I think I would venture to say that Halo 3 will sell better on the Xbox 360 than GTA IV will on the system.
The reason why I think this is because in the last generation Halo and Halo 2 sold very, very well on the Xbox. Halo 2 sold roughly around 8 million copies, and the install base for the Xbox was considerably smaller than the PS2. What if it had been comparable? Probably Halo 2 would have sold a lot more copies.
It's anybody's guess though. These are the two biggest American game franchises.

Yes but GTA on Xbox was always late.
This time 360 gets GTA4 on launch day and exclusive Online Content. It's hard to say what will sell more. With MS's ad's i think the hype alone will make Halo 3 the winner but GTA4 wiil not be far behind.
like you said they are americas biggest franchises and thats why they will be 360's top 2 selling games in the end.

I wasn't really referring to that actually. All the Grand Theft Auto games for the PS2 sold around 10 million copies each, and the PS2 install base is far larger than the Xbox. Halo 2 sold 8 million copies. The percentage seems to be higher.
Guess we'll see in a couple of months what happens!

Halo 3 and GTA 4 will sell more on 360 then GTA 4 on ps3. I think Halo 3 will sell the most as a First Party game this year, and GTA 4 will sell the most on ps3 for there games!
