Do you think developers deserve the cash or do you just see this as greedy publishers taking a step too far.

This is where I stand. I understand development costs are higher and you need sales but no good can come from this. I buy my games brand new but its time these companies realized who is in control here. They seem to push more and more to see what they can get away with.

But how do you feel? Does it not bother you because you buy games new?

I would hard to digest the situations .mostly because some used games i want are oop now and that my internet is not good enough to download big games. probaby would cause me to buy upcoming games and games that are still brand new( which i dont mind as long as i can find them).

I would not support it. If anything I'd buy it when the PS5 releases (that is if Sony were to survive such a moronic decision, which I doubt), so they'd barely get any money from me. As much as I'd be missing out on the games when they come out, I'd get to play them eventually. I'd just be a generation behind as I'd make sure to spend the least amount possible, and that's when the system's lifespan is over. If Sony or any other company tried this it'll be very interesting to watch the furor and fallout.

if it has exclusives that interest me I'll buy it for its exclusives, however, I'll likely only buy the exclusives for it, buying all multiplats on the Xbox

Greedy Publishers. Developers are already paid to make the game and they probably get additional money from ever game sold. Publishers feel they should get pay again for a game they already sold and got paid for, which is ridiculous. If they feel this strongly about being paid again, then they should buy back their games from gamers and try to resell them for a profit like Gamestop, Best Buy and Blockbuster is doing. They want more money without doing any of the leg work. These companies are crazy. If the PS4 doesn't allow the play of used games, I won't be getting it. Sony can suck it!! They've already sold 2 of their business HQ just to try and show a profit for 2012. Releasing a PS4 with this feature in tack will bankrupt them.

I always buy new anyway, so if Sony or MS block used games I wouldn't care.

I would want a company like Gamestop to get a gut check, I hate the way they do business. Buy your game for $5 and sell it for $55, it cheats you and the developer out of money.

I'm concerned about some things that may occur with this rumor of next consoles blocking used games. What happens if I borrow a game from a friend, can I play his copy in my PS4/Next Box? Or what happens when a niche game stops selling new copies, and the only way to play it is by finding a used copy?

With all that being said, I don't think either Sony or MS would block used games. Whoever does, the other doesn't...and whoever doesn't wins.

its been that way on PC for years now...dont see why people see it as such a big issue. If they offer games on a downloadable service aswell i probably wouldnt mind it at all. Doesnt bother me all that much to be fairly honest, maybe games will be a bit more expensive but that'll just make me more picky when it comes to purchases.

If Sony blocks used games, then I will not be buying a PS4. Seeing the PS4 is the only console I even have an interest in, I will be a PC only gamer if that happens.

The issues is I can buy PC games for cheaper than you can rent console games. When I can pick up news games for the PS4 for those same prices, I wouldn't care about consoles fighting used games then.

I never buy USED games. But one big advantage of consoles has always been to be able to SELL games. If next gen consoles try to curb that, it would be a negative to me because I like being able to trim down my collection of games and get money back for them. I most certainly would buy less games, and would have to think twice about the console at all. That being said, this seems more like a tactic that MS would resort to than Sony.

Not sure...When I understood there was not much on the PS3 for me I ended up trading it in and 15 games. The idea that if the PS4 got old to me that I could not do that would be a rather large disappointment. Then again I will not be picking up the PS4 unless there a good gimmick.

It's been like that on PC for years because there's really no profit in renting or reselling PC games anyway. There are a LOT of rare consoles games being sold on EBay for $100's of dollar. I rarely, if ever, see a rare PC game being sold anywhere.

Would not buy, since I don't condone that at all. Ford dosn't make money off a used car, why should a games publisher? They aren't special.

It won't, both retailers and consumers will boycott them, killing the PS4. Not worth the effort for some whiny butt hurt publishers who will continue making games for the PS4 regardless.

thing is though its a similar evolution for consoles, only 10 yearslater.

If they charge $60 for new games and don't allow used games I'll pass. I can't afford to gamble on every new game that comes out, and then I can't even sell them later when I'm done to get more money for other games.. no thanks.

I love the fact that console users treat used games like some god given right and are getting their panties in a bunch when things like this happen. Welcome to the real world folks, where used games are looked upon with the same disdain as piracy.

Depends on the company. Some frown upon it and some don't (Nintendo doesn't and neither does CD Projekt Red)

If we kill used games, then the value of the consoles go down and the economy gets worse. Why do you think there is a retro gaming community that buys these old games and sells them if they need the money for other things?

I try to buy new, but I do buy some used. Especially a game that has been out a long time. But I like having options. Take it away, and I'm gone. Until 5 years into the generation when the stuff is cheaper.

the ability to sell on our goods and buy second hand pretty much is a god given right considering 'Trade' is just and Extension of the Barter system which was originally used before Money, the world would be in a right state if people couldn't sell there stuff, what you gonna do with all those old games you bought new at the end of the Generation? throw them in the bin because you Can't sell them because nobody else can use them, imagine if you applied that to books and CD's.

Sony has also filed a patent allowing for in-game advertisements during gameplay. Imagine this along with blocked used game play.

www.techspot.com/news/48757-sony-patent-aims-to-put-content-interrupting-commercials-in-video-games.html

If you thought randomly-placed in-game advertisements were annoying, youd better be sitting down for this one. Its come to light that Sony filed a patent that would implement content-suspending advertisements in video games.

As the patent outlines, players would start playing a game and at some point would be given a warning that a commercial was pending. When its time to watch the ad, the game would be paused and the player would have to sit through the commercial. Once its done, the game would resume where it was paused or a point slightly before the ad took over.

With E-books and music downloads that is already becoming the case. I guess we are just starting to make everything disposable, which will eventually bite companies in the ass as everything will be devalued. People won't pay full price for something they know will go in the bin. Fortunately for music and books, physical sales are still large percentages of total sales. Digital is yet to eclipse CD sales and probably won't for at least a couple of years, and even then CDs will still be a large percentage. Nothing can be introduced that will stop books and CDs being sold, besides a law which won't happen.

I hate purchasing used games. I don't know who had the game before me.

I still wouldn't like it but if the PS4 gets games I want I will purchase it.
