What would convince you to buy a PS3?

OK.....I suppose it's not right to say "everyone on this website is a true gamer"....because there are obviously many idiotic 12 year old fanboys running amok. But, there are alot of true gamers on this site.....ign...gamerpro.......gamefaqs......etc.

As true gamers, we (for the most part), end up owning all 3 next-gen consoles....and obviously the PS3 is turning people away right now because of A) the price, or B) the lack of games CURRENTLY.

So......what things would make you buy a PS3, or be more inclined to do so? I'm sure many of you owned a PS2/PS1 for the last generations......and loved alot of the games which either A) likely have sequels for the PS3 in the works, or B) officially have sequels for the PS3 in the works. Sony has alot of exclusives announced.....and alot of games which are untitled and just waiting to be revealed. Sony's 1st party games are 2nd only to nintendo, they have alot of great 2nd party games, and many....many 3rd party games.

So...what would set you on buying a PS3?

A) a $50 price drop.

B) a $100 price drop

C) not until it's $400-$500

D) when (insert exclusive game here) launches.

I was originally going to wait until FFXIII was launched for the PS3......but now I know that I'm getting 1 for my birthday! So, I figure I'll be able to last the summer with it, with resistance, ninja gaiden sigma, lair, and heavenly sword.

I didn't own either a ps1 or ps2, so I have no loyalty towards them or "fond memories" of any game who's sequel is coming.

In fact, I have a little bitterness towards them for beating the Dreamcast. (and as such, the only PS2 games I wished I could play were Virtua Fighter 4  and  Shinobi.)

But if more than 5 great games exclusive to it come out, I will consider it if it has dropped to $299.

I realize that these 2 things happening are very unlikely. 

D) All the PS3 needs is one game to show us how much better it is than the 360.DaysAirlines

And what magical game would accomplish this feat? 

I am waiting on the station (waitstation) to mature. Most systems need about a year to do so. I still have about 5-10 ps2 games that I would like to get to (including God of War II) and that should keep me busy.

A $100 price drop later this year would make a lot of people happy including me.

First thing it needs to do is show me it can offer me experiences my 360 can't. That doesn't necessarily mean better graphics or AI or some such thing. Just games that are exclusive to the system and unlike anything available on another system.

Untill then it doesn't matter what the price is because there would be no reason to buy a system to play the same or similar games to what I can already play.

 Fingers crossed for Little Big PLanet, MGS4 and Eye of Judgement.

Let me rephrase it then,

I will need it to have more than 5 amazing games that I can't play on 360 for it to be worth me spending $200 dollars on.

I also needed five games I wanted on 360 to justify it's purchase (that wasn't hard though; I wanted Dead or Alive 4, PGR3, Oblivion, and GRAW right away).

A price drop of 100USD would need to happen. Further, the PS3 needs to build a solid library of games worth playing to merit a purchase as well; even if the PS3 was available suddenly for 500USD (or even 400USD) I still wouldn't jump all over it unless 3 or so solid games were on the shelves. This means titles like MGS4, GoW3, etc, and they must be exclusive (or else I'd pick them up for my X360 instead).Overkill253

MGS4 is pretty much set to be a PS3 exclusive.

GOW3 will be a PS3 exclusive......santa monica SCEA team is a sony 1st party company.

littlebigplanet also looks amazing from what we've seen.

Eye of judgment is the only 1 you really need to look out for (if it has alot of cards, online play, different modes then it'll be good).

Not just 5 "amazing" exclusives, but 5 amazing exclusives that I want to play.

That said, ps2 never got that far FOR ME. (Got to 4, and 2 didn't receive good reviews).

Now that FF13 gets to PS3, the game i would buy a PS3 for is ONLY White Knight Story, that is published by Sony, so PS3 is a must buy for that one, when and if it comes to US, hopefully in 2008 and not slip to 2009

BTW i would never buy a console for more than 400$, in fact i had a huge problem spending 400$ for 360, when games are so expensive too

What is this nonsense that a true gamer buys all 3 systems!?  No thats just a rich person.  A true gamer is someone who plays videogames for a considerable amount of their time.

I will not buy a PS3 because it doesnt appeal to me.
