Simple question. Had there been a difference in history in some fashion, what would have stopped you from buying any of the current systems that you did buy?

For the Vita... Had I known Sony would crap on early adopters I would have gladly waited to buy it in a bargain been 10 years later to play Uncharted GA.

For the PS4... Had Sony announced the same policies as Microsoft had at the 2013 E3... I would not have preordered PS4. Had they kept the policies, I would waited until Uncharted 4 released at the earliest or waited until I could get one for $200 or less... so this Black Friday I guess.

For the Switch... if motion controls continued to be pushed as mandatory (even if perceived as such) than I would have skipped Nintendo for another generation.

What about you guys?

I've liked all my systems.

As for motion controls, had very little issues. Games that use them properly like Resident Evil 4 or Mario Galaxy were a joy to play. And stuff like New Super Mario Bros wii, just a little waggle, not a big issue.

@Telekill:

If MS had not Canceled the family plan for $99 and charged $59 per person or been so confused on their game sharing policy I’d own two xboxes instead of two ps4s.

Pretty much everything I buy is bought rationally with many days or even weeks of contemplation prior to pulling the add to basket trigger.

I do regret buying a s*** load of games, Ark being one of them and DayZ... Like seriously those games still win the POS technical achievement awards and should be complete fully working products by now.

@uninspiredcup: So have I; even Vita for the first two years. This is a hypothetical scenario.

@Telekill: Hypothetically?..

Okay I'll bite. I guess if parity was universally practised by developers I would not spend so much on hardware for my PC.

I probably wouldn't have bought my PS4, it's been used for Uncharted collection (which came with it) and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Hmm... Once I decide between going with a Ryzen 1700 or a i5 8600K I will deffinetely be grabbing 960 Pro. I have been using a 840 250GB SSD for so long that when I go to use my wife's PC that uses a WD Black drive I always bring my cringe face with me.

If I had known MS was gonna start bringing there games to PC later on, I wouldn't buy an Xbox One a year later after it's release.

I would have always built this PC.

I wouldn't have gotten a PS4 if Bloodborne had been multi-platform.

I mean, I guess if I'd known how bad the disc drive would turn out to be on my OG XBox, and how few games would set it apart from my PC, I might have skipped it. But I still had a great time with it. Haven't really regretted any of my console purchases. I guess another would be "if framerates were any worse on the PS3 and PS4 then I would have skipped them" - too many games run rough on these things

I often regret when I buy Nintendo system and sell them not so long after the Mario 3D and Mario kart because the rest is very "meh" to me.

And I love my Vita even after all these years I still like it

I recently upgraded my wife's PC to support our new fibre connection and got a Ugreen PCI-E Gigabit card... Felt as if I was transported back to the mid 2000's.

Well I'd regret buying a Wii U if I knew.... no, I don't regret that.

I'd regret buying an XBOX ONE if I... nothing here, either.

Well, shit! I can't think of any console purchase I regret.

WiiU went about as expected. Nintendo came up a little short on ambition with their games, but they still put out some damn good games and Platinum picked up the slack with TW101 and especially Bayo 2.

Switch is going much better than expected so far, no complaints there.

But ok, PS4. Had I known for sure that MGSV would be coming to PC, I wouldn't have gotten a PS4 so early. Had I known that the Pro would be a thing, would've been more reason to wait. Probably would have scooped one up at the end of the gen with the handful games that interest me. As it stands, it's basically just been a Bloodborne/Nioh box. And now Nioh is on PC in better form too lol. There's a couple of other available games that interest me and a couple more on the way, but I could have just held out, gotten the Pro, and then played that handful of games.

I'd probably stop if building a PC cost as much as some of the tools on here think it cost.

*No I wouldn't. Worth it!!!

If Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy had not been announced as a PS4 exclusive last year then I might have sold my PS4 by now. If this game ever gets released on either Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch like the many rumors are suggesting then I will have to start debating again whether it's worth keeping my PS4 or not.

Had I known that the Wii U will be a flop, I would still play it as I do not play sales but play games. I enjoyed the first-party games I played on the Wii U (Super Mario 3D World and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U).

Well tbo and totally unbiased, I wouldn't of got X1, even though i'm a 100% unbiased person. Reason is MS dropped exclusives and went 99% multi plat and wit my elite gaming rig,it was a mistake to buy X1.

Own 'em all twice over, love them all. The past few nights, the wife has been VR'ing Skyrim on the PS4 Pro/PSVR while I COD WW2 on the XBoneX. That way, we sit beside each other and both play in the living room. Only downside is that a couple of times during online matches I took a light dildo to the face but hey, that's marriage :) Otherwise, also we have launch PS4/LaunchBone in the bedroom so we can play online games together. Also two Switches. Pretty much I am the luckiest guy in the world.

The only system I ever regret buying was the WiiU, and that was more a timing issue. I still would have got one eventually for Breath Of The Wild, but I bought way too early and ended up with a terrible, drought filled system for years before Zelda eventually came out to make it all worthwhile.

The game I most regret buying was Perfect Dark... for the Game Boy. I adored the N64 game and being young and stupid, assumed the Gameboy game would be equally good. If was fucking awful.

I wish people would stop paying money for unfinished products, as that just destroys the incentive for devs to actually finish them.

There are piece meal payment models that can work (I like discrete chunks of episodic content) but some of those Early Access games are totally beyond a joke with how broken they are (and tend to remain)

But hey, it's their money not mine, they can spend it as they like I guess...

If I knew the PS4 would take a while before achieving the greatness it promised, I would have not bought it close to launch... but I had some credit store to spent so I used it on the PS4.

Consoles at launch are rarely worth their price of submission imo

I'd rather start by saying why I bought each:

-Built a gaming PC for the experience and to save money on a high performance rig.

-Bought a PS4 b/c it had the better hardware/performance over the Xbox One.

-Bought an Xbox One b/c PD never published a Gran Turismo on PS4 (until recently and it sux), so I played Forza to get my car fix.

People do that when they've already spent the money. They have to mentally justify it rather than just accept they got burned. Like the PS3 fans back in the day claiming 600 euros to play crap exclusives and inferior multiplats was a great deal.

Humans are so weird.

Hey, day 1 PoS4 purchase here and ...... I’m still awaiting the greatness I want, my best POS4 game is a PS3 game, go figure, and I will have to wait until GOW hoping it’s as great as promised, UC4 was not exactly “holy shit !”, damn, UC2 was better. If it weren’t for multiplats I would seldomly turn it on ( pretty much the only games I play in it are Overwatch, several CODs and Lego games )

Had I been more open minded and not such a Nintendo and sony fanboy I would have been into PC gaming sooner.

But thats just me trying really REALLY hard to contribute to this thread, generally speaking I have never regretted any systems I have purchased, I have really had a great time with my SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS2, PSP, DS and PS3. Its only some time after the PS3 I started to notice that the console market was getting worse and worse and then PC made the daring jump to PC.
