From the Elden Ring reaching 25million thread, it was shown that Bloodborne sold 2 7 million copies, just 1 million above Demon Souls remake. Compared to Dark Souls games, they all made more than Bloodborne. With Elden Ring, it doesn't even stand a chance, and to me that speaks volumes of why we're not seeing a sequel to Bloodborne. The question now is, what would it take for Sony to greenlight BB2? Doubtless with the success of Elden Ring, an open world Bloodborne game with the same, if not greater accessability akin to ER, may be the formula that's needed to greenlight a sequel. I sincerely doubt that Sony is looking at ER and not wondering what they can do with a FromSoft exclusive. Thoughts?

It was alright. Move on.

As for Elden Ring, haven't even gotten past first mandatory boss, Margit the Fell Omen, after these months. Really don't enjoy the psych-out last second dodge that the combat largely became. I'm sure I could still play the older games if I went back, but the new, too try-hard.

I enjoyed Bloodborne, but I'm not one of those fans who are clamouring for a sequel or remake, but I am curious about what it would take for Sony to greenlight the IP, since they own it. :)

Are you trying to solo every boss? Have you used Ash Summons? Or summoned real players to get past bosses? Plenty of solutions to get past Margit. Again, unless you're trying to solo.

@fedor Even more curious why Sony isn't doing anything with it.

Bloodborne sold way more than 2 million copies; the leaked PlayStation sales data has it at like 7.5 million.

The answer is ... whenever FromSoftware has capacity to do it.

If there is any game that is overstated in these types of forums it is Bloodborne.

@mycatismilk: Tried to fight him with a summon once and was annoyed at how much easier he became. He repeatedly got stunned and didn't know how to fight me off from the rear while dealing with the other. Cooperation is shitty because of shitty AI. If I can't do it by myself like I did the previous games, not worth it. Didn't finish the final boss in Sekiro either and then was even worse when I tried to restart the story later. Finished Bloodborne only twice, never the DLC. Played through first three Souls many times. DS3 only twice, another disappointment. But all tiresome now anyway, because they've made nothing but for fourteen years.

I don't see a situation where PlayStation decides to work on a sequel without FromSoftware.

That's a fair assessment. But Sony does have Bluepoint for at least a solid Remake akin to Demon Souls, at the very least.

From Software/Soul's popularity is at an all time high, and Square Enix just showed that making your big games exclusive to Playstation is a big mistake.

If anything, From Software should be begging Sony to release Demon's Souls and Bloodborne to PC/Xbox once the Shadow of the Erdtree hype has died down.

Make Bloodborne 2 an open world game in the same setting. Instead of having empty open fields that you see in ER, you'd be in a dense city with underground levels and such. This on itself would be excellent for marketing, and people that didn't care much about the original, would have an eye on this one after playing ER.

And they should never even think of making it more accessible for the sake of sales. If they do, the shitstorm for casualizing the game will be so big all you'll see on the socials are people memeing the game and compare it to teletubbies and other childish content. That would kill the hype years before the game is even released. Do not change what works, and has worked for over 14 years.

But at the same time i don't think Fromsoft would be interested. They're not the same small'ish company that they were back when they began BB production. They don't need to rely on Sony resouces, especially not after the mega success ER was. Sony would need to be the ones making it, and i can't think of any studios that would be able to achieve BB greatness.

@Litchie: There was an article on IGN where they were talking to Miyazaki for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Feb, and he only mentions how he's very fond of the IP and enjoyed working on it, but he stated he can't say anything regarding the IP since it's Sony owned.

Unfortunately, and I've said this in other interviews, it's not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically," he said. "We simply don't own the IP at FromSoftware. For me personally, it was a great project, and I have a lot of great memories for that game, but we're not at liberty to speak to it.

Became? iFrames don't last half an hour, you were always dodging attacks at the last second LOL.

Souls games have seen two changes since Demon's Souls Firstly, they became much more anime than they used to be in Demon's, Dark Souls 1 and 2. And while i don't have much issues with that, i do kinda miss the more realistic combat of Demon's Souls. Secondly, they became harder than they used to be, but that's primarity because the core fanbase became much better than what they were in 2011. If they launch a new Souls game with the same difficulty Demon's Souls was (especially if it didn't have the punishing aspect that Demon's had, things such as the world tendencies, restarting the whole level if you die, etc), there would be more complaints than praising. So they're not made for try-hards per se, but they're certainly aimed at those who have played previous titles, you know, the same people that have been supporting the studio for over 10 years, the ones that made Fromsoft what they are now.

@hardwenzen: Dude, when I played Demon Souls remake, the game was a walk in the park. The False King Allant was so easy to maniuplate. I beat all of the bosses first try. :/ LOL. But like you mentioned, the later games need to be made harder. And when you go backwards to the first one, it's so easy.

When playing the remake on the launch of the PS5, i remember thinking of how difficult i found flamelurker and King Allant to be in the original game, and i was prepping myself for these two because i recall struggling back in 2010. When the time came, i died once on flamelurker and one shot Allant. It was so weird i recall going on Demon's reddit to see if there's any mention of bosses being nerfed. The standards, just in the move sets alone, is so much higher now.

Probably no.

I mean, we talk a lot about sales, Sony and whatnot ... but maybe FromSoft is not interested in a sequel, maybe they don't know how a sequel could work since Bloodborne didn't left much else to be explored, in other words, it feels that the story was completed.

I'm not saying there aren't other ideas, for example, i would love to see the same "Lovecraftian" approach but set on the sea, maybe with pirates, exploring islands filled with monsters. But yeah, point is, maybe they don't want to make Bloodborne 2.

Bloodborne is becoming cows half life 3.

I really loved bloodborne. It deserves much of its praise. Can't help but feel though that From would have to have a screw loose to develop an exclusive souls game considering theyre one of the best developers on earth and don't need to limit their games to a single platform.

This was asked to Miyazaki a few years ago when Elden Ring was still on development and he basically said that he had his hands full with Elden Ring.

@hardwenzen: So it's very inbred. Well, I knew that. Good reason then to stop repeating their formula and come up with a new combat system and progression that the players are not used to. How about a world that offers more than only sad gloom, death and try-hard fights? Oh, FromSoftware can't do that because they're not creative anymore.

From Software most popular platforms are PlayStation and PC with probably 75% Plus of sales coming from both platforms. So make Bloodborne 2 a PS5/PS6/PC game day one and Sony can pay Kadokawa 300 million dollars for the missed Xbox sales.

I hear this from the non fans pretty often, the usual "why don't they change the formula" etc etc. Who said we want the formula to be changed? Those that play these games don't want it changed, the only ones that do want it changed are those that don't play their games. If this was a dumbass company like EA, they would've listened to you, the one that doesn't play their titles, but unfortunately for you, Fromsoft management gets it, and they will keep delivering their GOTY winning formula for as long as there is demand, which ain't dropping anytime soon.

The whole industry is full of lucky go happy guardians of the galaxy kind of vibes (in cinema and gaming), but here you are, bitching about their creative worlds MADE FOR ADULTS, not teenagers on g-fuel.

Here's a game more in line with what you're looking for. You'll get all the goofiness you're looking for, and there's no "last second dodging" either, you can just skillessly spam and win. Please enjoy.

Finding how a sequel to BB would be shouldn't be an issue for a dev such as Fromsoft. They're not full of skilless interns like many other developers, and have people with a clear vision for projects. The reason why i don't believe they will ever make a sequel is because they're not interested in being stuck on the same IP. Pretty sure that if they were already a big, confident developer back in the early 2010's, we would've never even seen a sequel to Dark Souls.

Almost every developer in the industry sticks to the same IP's because its "safe". In Fromsoft's case, they don't need to do that because of their reputation and genre of games they produce. Even tho there are hundreds of Souls-likes, there's literally nothing good when it comes to 3D games, let alone approach the quality of what Fromsoft releases.

Somewhat related, saw this on Twitter,

Hidetaka Miyazaki 'knows for a fact' other FromSoftware devs want a Bloodborne PC port: 'If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble, but it's nothing I'm opposed to'

"Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to."

You have never stopped to ask how many of those non-fans you speak of were once fans, but got tired of the formula and of doubling down more on more on the speed, abundant boss stamina and tricky animations, understandably. Not to mention the setting. Again and again with the dreary medieval fantasy about death. I played those games more than most people. Not more than you, but more than most. If Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition had been updated from GFWL to Steam sooner, my recorded hours would be second only to Max Payne 3. Spoke positively of them so much. Many fans just got bored of the same old shit repeated for fifteen years. Just lazy. Greedy and lazy. It's soooo inbred now.

Funny you say this because the souls genre, and especially Fromsoft souls-likes, are bigger than they ever were, and by such a large margin that its not worth paying attention to those who "outgrew" the genre. Let them behind, crying in a corner about the ifs and buts. Nobody cares.

Fromsoft is a well oiled machine of a developer. They produce E X A C T L Y what their fans want, said fans market their games like crazy with world of mouth, more gamers become fans of the genre, and... and we have Elden Ring, a phenomenon of a video game.

So again, they will never listen to you, you don't play their games. They listen to those who do, we support their products, they create more bangers and literally everyone that could be happy IS happy. If the whole gaming industry was like that, any other entertainment would be in massive trouble.

As a cow, i CHOSE to play these two titles on PC. But where do you think i'll be investing 300h+ in shadow of the erdtree? Yes, you guessed it, the Playstation 5, an incredible system that you do not own because you're not manly enough to handle it.

What exactly is your point? The studio can milk for the money and I am within my right to keep criticizing them for it. You know that I love complaining. I will never let this go. When Demon's Souls is twenty years old and they still stick to basically the same formula, shitting on them will only be funnier. Current players mostly joined because they downgraded their formula with an open world, obvious from the far higher sales of Elden Ring.

@hardwenzen: The only reason you're playing it on PS5 is because that's where all your hours are invested, and it was before you turned into a Hermit.

Image calling yourself a cow and buying a Sony owned game on PC stiffing Sony on 30% of the money 🤦‍♂️

Like I said you're a Hermit your purchases prove that. Once ED2 is out you will buy it on PC.

You're just quietly working in the background trying to knock bassman of his throne to take his king Hermit spot 🤣

You need to learn the definition of milking. When they deliver exactly what their whole playerbase wants, that's called listening to your fans, and last time i checked, listening to fans is not milking🤷‍♂️If fromsoft was a dev that wants to print as much cash as humanly possible, they would've never taken over 2 years to make the magnum opus dlc that's coming out in a week. Instead, because ER did as well as it did, you would've seen at least 4 dlc by now, all of which sold for $25-30 dollars a pop.

And of course you can criticize them all you want. But as i said, they don't waste their energy listening to those who outgrew their formula, so you're pretty much bitchin' to a wall. Fromsoft is like Larian and GGG. They don't need to re-invent the genre with every game, but looking at BG3 and PoE2, they're perfecting it as much as possible. Bioware tried to re-invent what Mass Effect is with Andromeda and now what Dragon Age with Veilguard... look where it got them. This whole industry is trying their hardest to ride of the nostalgia of old IP's, re-invent them into some shallow POS made for the lowest common denominator in hopes of seeing more revenue. Not only is this a bad idea (outside of mobile gaming), but i expect it to be worst n worse by the year. With the social media, these devs are having a much harder time selling us piles of shit, and those that stick to their roots, are selling more than ever.

Why do you think those hours were invested on the PS5 and not pc, then? And i am not interest in his throne, the same throne he kept farting hardcore into.

@hardwenzen: You bought ER on PS5 when you thought your PS5 was going to get you amazing games from Sony, last year you slowly started to realise that Sony wasn't going to give you what you wanted and was doing superhero games and live service crap.

Since then you haven't bought a game on your PS5 and have bought 2 (that we know of) on PC, and have been dissing Sony hard.

Lookout bassman wenzens coming for your throne 🤣

I don't want to believe a word of what you've just said. Not even a single word.

@hardwenzen: You can't fight your own fate.

You left MS because of the lack of games you like and here you are in the same situation with Sony. All you currently play is third party stuff now.

You can't name a single game from Sony you're looking forward to. I rest my case.
