Now im sure most people would agree, your normal collectors edition of a game is usually pretty crap and just comes with a bunch of stuff you'll never really use. But what would convince you to buy a collectors edition?

For me it pretty much depends on how much I like the series. I purchased the MGS4 collector's ediiton but there's no way in hell would I buy the Gears Of War 2 collector's edition (I'll buy the regular edition).

A "DVD making of" and concept art. Not a crappy little bible sized one like guilds wars, a proper book.

that would be bs as the normal version should include it. Its the same as DLC they leave it out on purpose when it could have been in the game to milk the customer.

Everything that people have stated as deal makers for a "Collector's Edition" end up on the internet. Go check. A "collector's edition", by definition, should mean that the game should become a collector's item. The problem is that the collector's edition depreciates in value and doesn't disappear. You can still find collector's edition versions of basically any game that has come out and buy them all, brand spanking new, today. If you want to even make me THINK about buying a collector's edition, limit the production of it to 500 or some other minute number, first of all. Then, let me know that my investment is going to INCREASE in value. Comic books tried the same "collector's edition" gimmick of sales back in the early 90's. It may have boosted sales of some books, but those books are also worth nothing more than face value today.

Usually nothing, the only collector editions I buy is if a game is packed in (like Doom 3).

Any game that comes with a T-Shirt or the OST I'm willing to get the collector's. Thats about it though. Tangible stuff ftw.

It really depends on the price and the amount of content that the extras entail. I like a lot of "making of" vids as I'm always interested in how a game is made and the point they are trying to get across about the game. There could be some exclusive gamer pics like how Halo 3 and Mass Effect and some kind of collectible figurine or the like. It's gotta be worth it. Probablly the most worhtless collector's editions I have ever bought was Lost Planet, Perfect Dark Zero and Stranglehold. None of these collector's editions were worth the extra $10.
