The majority of people here will probably tell you that the games on the DS are better for handheld gaming, and that the PSP tries too hard to do too much and falls short in many ways. Plus, short battery life and long loading times can sometimes be a pain. The games on the DS are more unique and exclusive... things such as that, but it's all up to your personal preference. I have both and personally, I prefer the DS, while the PSP is my video mp3 player.

It think PSP is way better than the DS personally...I don't own either one of them but I've played them a lot at school b/c my friends have them so I'm not partial to either one..anyways...PSP is better b/c it's graphic's looks a lot better, the games aren't little kiddie games like Mario they're actual sports and racing games and shooting games with violence.  also on the PSP you can put videos, images and music so it's way better.

If you are looking for a media player / ps2 port player buy PSP.

All jokes aside, they are both great but I find the software on DS much better. They are just my kind of games. And it's easier to find someone to play multiplayer with.

Your judging solely by visuals... which will probably not turn out so well for your choice.  The DS has the better selection of games, and a much bigger variety, even if there aren't tons of M rated games.  That doesn't mean there aren't hardcore games on the DS.

Everyone says games are better but i couldnt find games that are known to be out for ps or xbox. The only game i thought was interesting was mario and metriod. All other games looked like they were for eight graders (No offense).

shooters, fighters, sports, and every other game that is usually on the MS and Sony consoles, the psp wins in a long shot. the psp's online is also better, which isn't saying much. but basiclly every game on the ds is fun to play and out there, it destroys in originality, and it's rpg's are better. overall your preference will decide which is better

depends how old you are. Over 18 PSP under 18 DS sad sad fact. not to say someone over 18 cant enjoy a DS but you must be 100% sure you like those types of games and 2d games. PSP is underrated on this Forum but its really good. If you never played any PS2 games then and kinda new to gaming then a PSP would be an amazing System if you played PS2 games before you might have an idea but all the games are still new and feature differant storys and Weapons for the PSP so there is differance to the games.

the thing is your right alot of these people posting here are lke 12 thru 15 and there like DS DS but in fact if a 20 year old bought a DS who doesnt like Nintendo games then he will think the DS is awfull but these people dont think of it like that they just fanboys actually bad place to ask that question.

The PSP is going to give you a better presentation than the DS, as far as graphics, physics, sound, etc, etc go.  However, look at the games and see what you're really interested in.  In my honest opinion, I find the PSP to be more appealing because PSP games are a lot more epic than DS games.  DS games are like a bunch of pocket games, whereas PSP games are console games!  That being said, you'll find fun on both handhelds.

i prefer ds because it is a game player and i see the psp as a giant media player which can be replaced by a creative zen which is better anyways. anyways, if you've ever heard of an r4, you can put that on your ds and play movies and music and also download free ds games. also there are very....."original" mods to say the least, using the touch screen and all

Pokemon doesn't even use the thouchscreen that much. what does this show? that Even Nintendo is geting tired of the Touchscreen it's a good idea but it show be mandatory just for picking stuff but the D pad and buttons is all you use for most games. So the reason the games look bad is cause they want it on the DS but they don't use the Touchscreen right? that means there limiting the look and size of the game for no real reason....

Well I too had to make a choice on which handheld to get. At first it was so clear to me. I knew I had to get a PSP. But as time went on and I got to looking at the games and reading reviews, I had no choice but to get a DS. I already have a PS1 and PS2, so the PSP lost on games because most of the games I already own on the console. But back to reading the reviews. I kept reading about different ways the touch screen was being used and I just had to own the DS before the PSP. And now that I have the DS, I am so happy I bought it first. People that don't own a DS shrug the touch screen off as not being anything cool, but they couldn't be farther from the truth. The touch screen adds so much depth to the games and their gameplay. Mertoid Prime Hunter controls rock for a FPS. Easily blowing away any FPS controls on the PSP. If I was big into watching movies on a tiny screen, I guess the movie play of the PSP would have enterested me more, but I like seeing my movies on a big screen. Won't another sweet example of how the touch screen is used? Check out Final Fantasy 3. And did I mention Pokemon Pearl/Diamond? Don't shrug it off as a kids game. I am 32 and I am enjoying my copy of Pearl a whole lot as is my girl (28) with Diamond.

^^^ Anyone who actually played the game, is laughing their behind off at your post.

The total amount of time it would take to complete every song, on every playthrough actually clocks over an hour.  And if you could beat Jumpin Jack Flash on Hard Rock, then I salute you.

But, you didn't. :3 You are just a desperate fanboy.

P.S. This game in no way would have worked on any other console.

I seriously doubt you can consider "Canned Heat" on Hard easy.

By the way, keep thinking that Elite Beat can be done with buttons.

As for Pokemon D/P not using the touch screen, why bother changing the core gameplay to use the touch screen? The touch screen is best used on entirely new franchises that was made for that feature in mind. If anything that argument is just plain invalid, picky and silly. Still doesn't change the fact that Pokemon D/P is a great game.

I have both and personally, I prefer the DS, while the PSP is my video mp3 player.ShakeNBake1491

The psp is usually better for games like first person shooters and other action games, but the ds games almost always have more originality and can be more fun to play with because of the touch screen. Also, the psp can be used for much more, which is why i like it better.

there's a major difference in the type of handheld each one is

the psp is a portable console, bulky, crappy battery life, console type games.   Most of the time w/ the psp you need to be in a single place for a while often w/ a power supply handy.  It's ok for road trips, or dragged along to a reletives house of an extended period of time.  But you pretty much have to plan where you take it.

The ds is much more suited to handheld play.  you can pick it up put it down, most of the games you don't really need to pay intense attention to.  So you can take it to the store, on the bus, just any where you got a couple free minutes.  Â
