When it comes to consoles, its a one time investment on the system. Then all you have to worry about is buying the games.

With PC gaming, buying components is the expensive part, but you have the advantage when it comes to buying games at a cheaper price. Consoles don't get the amazing Steam sales that PC's get.

Both have their ups and downs, but which is more expensive?

pc gaming has a higher entry price but the cheap games and the higher end graphics and all that make up for it. I mean honestly it depends on the person, if they got the cash and game alot then go for a pc but if they play games here and there consoles and pick up a few titles every couple of months then consoles.

consoles are cheaper than gaming rigs but pc games are cheaper than console games.

pc is for hardcore gamers while console gaming is for mild gamers.

i state the obvious.

The thing people forget, is a lot of PC gamers don't mind the price of PC Gaming. We enjoy buying and building components for upgrading and modding.

The price of console games is simply ludicrous, and investing in a decent PC is a far more valuable investment than buying a console, so I'd say consoles are much more expensive.

Also, if it's fair to factor in the price of a 23'' monitor for PCs, it's fair to add in the price of an HDTV for consoles.

If that's the case I initially bought my Xbox 360 and HDTV a few years ago pushing just over $1,000. With my PC(which I built a few months prior) was a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

Plus digital downloads are so much cheaper. And I mainly like to buy games on the weekend because the sales are insanely cheap. I remember on Steam I got the game of the year edition of Borderlands for $9.99, while on retail shelves at my local Wal-mart the same game was going for $39.99. With that said I can spend $100 on videogames in a day and walk away with more than just 2 titles. Not to mention there are some pretty decent free to download and play games.

And upgrading components is much easier on the wallet now.

I bought a PC in September and I'm thinking about upgrading for Max Payne 3. I didn't cheap out either.

If you're living on a computer build for five years you may as well play on a console. Playing PC games on an ageing build gets more depressing every time you hit the video options menu.

Yes, the initial outlay for a decent gaming PC will be more than for a console, but then again a PC can do so much more than a console and most people need/want to own a PC anyway. After tha point PC gaming is definitely cheaper.

Besides, the consoles were so unreliable this generation I actually ended up having to buy a second PS3 because my 80GB model's GPU got damaged and was resulting in all kinds of graphical glitches and corruption in games.

Consoles are cheaper for so-called "casual" gamers who do not buy many games due to lower hardware prices. PC is cheaper for "hardcore" gamers who buy a lot of games due to signficantly lower software prices.

It is all subjective one which is more expensive. For some PC gamers, they love buying new hardware because

it is their hobby and they enjoy it. That doesn't mean it is more expensive than console gaming, for the fact that

if you build a computer right now it'll last for 5-6 years and still be able to play all your games. Even if you want to

have better graphics all it takes is 100-200 dollars on a new GPU 4-6 years down the line.

When you put both PC gaming and Console gaming up against each other in the long run, PC gaming is cheaper.

For the fact that people who get a console usually own more than 1, and the fact that majority of console gamers

have a computer/laptop also. So, you need to account for the extra console system if they have it, but mainly

you need to add in the price of their computer/laptop. With PC gaming it is all in 1, you don't need to get another

computer since your gaming PC does everything you need it to do.

We could also get super specifc on both sides but it just becomes more subjective after these points. I mean all

console gamers own a TV to play on, but not all PC gamers own a TV. (So that reduces the cost of PC gaming also).

TL;DR Console gaming is more expensive in the bigger picture of all your expensies through-out the years, due to

owning multiple systems, owning a TV and having a computer/laptop on the side.

Not in this gen. Because of the longer-than-usual generation, you can play most of the multiplats on 8800GT with no compromises. And that is a really old hardware.

PC gaming in terms of high end hardware. However from that point onward it's cheaper in the long run, and well - you've got a computer. Console gaming is by and large cheaper from the get go, and has less hassles; however has dearer payments attached over time.

PC, because as far as deals go you can get similar deals for consoles if you are ok with buying used (with some games I've bought on PS3 and Xbox being as low as $5).

On PC said deals might be more convenient on Steam, but there are still games that cheap on consoles, and you still have the giant entry price.

It's depend on the game which you are going to play. For me console gaming is expensive. That's why I am always play the game on my PC. I have stored so many games in my PC and play as I wish.

One thing that most people tend to forget about PC gaming is that while consoles are for the most part dedicated to gaming and entertainment, PCs are also used for various other things like word processing, browsing. PCs are going to be more expensive for strictly gaming, but the price is offset by the fact that there is far more usage for a PC than a console.

If you are a "hardcore" gamer and play tons of games, PC gaming is cheaper for you. If you are a "casual" gamer and only play a few games a year, Console gaming is cheaper for you.

pc gaming has a higher entry price but the cheap games and the higher end graphics and all that make up for it. I mean honestly it depends on the person, if they got the cash and game alot then go for a pc but if they play games here and there consoles and pick up a few titles every couple of months then consoles.

This. It might cost a lot to first start out. But ive only bought two games at full price in like the past year which were Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2.
