God of war 2 by far, and I'm a fan of the series. It has the most variety and smooth controls by far. Everything about the game is just epically made and polished. From the soundtrack to the boss fights, it just blows away every other game in the series, IMO.
I consider God of war 3 to be the best simply because of the amazing scale and epic bosses. God of war 2 was epic as well and had a much better story but God of war 3 is the definition of epic.
GOW III easy.....I mean almost every Boss you fight is a major Greek Mythology character. How much more epic can it be when you have Kratos and Hercules fighting it up.
God of War 2 did have the better story, but come on guys, it's only God of War, lol. The games have good stories and they are kind of cool since it's greek mythology, but it's like it's Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2 level. The story didn't even get that good until 2 anyways. The combat, mix of cool puzzles, and brutality has always been the main appeal of the game and God of War III does that the best. It just happens to have one of the best stories for a hack n slash game..

Its a close fight between Gow2 & Gow3, however i still think its GOW2 the most epic... GOW3 surely though has the massive/epic Boss battles but was slightly disappointed by its ending..
