Okay, I'll be honest with you. I'm a gamer that's pretty hardcore. I try to play all the good games on every system since I have all three. So can someone tell me what makes this game so special? I'm just wondering since it got the great reviews. I'd like to try it sometime.

I've watched a bunch of video reviews and I'll say that the online component seems pretty interesting. However, I think that other games have done things fairly similar. The whole thing about seeing other players while playing seems to be similar to what fable 2 did with the orbs (though perhaps done better, I dunno I haven't played this game yet). The ability to leave hints has been done in games like World of Warcraft through add ons (Also, I do realise this game actually included it out of the box, something the developer actually did). I'm not putting these features down at all, they sound great to me, but people claim this game to be innovative, so I'm just pointing out that they've sort of been done before, so that people don't ask me "Name one game that's done anything like this!!!"

Finally I keep hearing that the game is so incredibly difficult. I'm not sure why that's really a good thing. I think I'd rather a game be reasonable then just have a harder difficulty available. Bottum line, difficulty alone isn't innovative at all. In fact, I think it's astep backwards in a lot of ways.Though if it does something unique that makes it challenging, like some clever puzzles or something, that's different.

So if someone could just tell me what makes it worth so much. Why am I seeing it compared to every other great RPG from this generation.

To me, Oblivion is the best RPG out there. I'm not big into many JRPGs.

it is reasonable. You just have to accept that you'll die until you learn. And then you'll just die a lot less.

I wouldn't say it's innovative but brought a lot of good ideas that made RPGs great and mashed them together. That alongside online hints, ratings, co-op, and PVP, it's pretty fun. Also, it's not all that difficult. Compared to the majority of games out right now, yes. Tear your hair out and scream, no. It's fair and you'll know it. Every time I've died, I haven't complained that it's the game's fault when it's pretty clear that you yourself just messed up. When the community leaves hints, allows co-op, and plenty of ways to get around tough areas, you can certainly do it.

Its a game you must play to fully understand, the difficulty, and why the gameplay is so great will make sense then, it gets much easier as it goes along, I still have the last boss left, but otherwise only 2 or 3 bosses took me more then 1 try.. and I don't think I'm that great at games, patience leads to victory most of the time.

You should probably play it, not watch it. It's a different experience.

It can be daunting at first but when you understand the mechanics of the game things get less hectic.

If you read the reviews they tell you why the game is a "big deal." What more can anyone tell you? Rent it and see for yourself. Geesh.

Yes you''re right. The learning curve is steep but once you get the hang of it the game is not so bad in terms of difficulty.

It's the tension that makes Demon's Souls so wonderful. You fear for your character's life because the stakes are higher than in other RPGs. When you die, you feel more of an emotional investment in your characters wellbeing. And while the game is challenging, this is made less daunting by the wonderful "help me out here" online mode, as well as the robust Wiki and online community, without which, many of the game's challenges would appear unsurmountable. I love Oblivion too, and dislike the majority of JRPGs, but trust me when I tell you that this isn't really a JRPG. It's a Western Style RPG with an empasis on combat. The controls and level design are phenomenal, and it has terrific replayability. It's a remarkable game, and one any PS3 owner should at least try.
