Fun challenges with my real life friends. Who can get the first Platinum for Uncharted or first 1000 points in Star Wars or whatever.

I got 39 Platinums, and 100,000 Gamerscore from these crazy challenges so far. I like the concept of the Platinum better overall, but the 360 gets props for having achievements since the beginning. Overall, they do they nothing but are fun with friends.

The trophy levels are a better idea then flat out points. Getting a Platinum trophy on PS3 is much more compelling then trying to get 1000 GS on the 360 imo.

They're pretty much the same as far as functionality, except Achievements are integrated in every 360 game. Trophies have been standard since early 2009.Achievements only count points, while trophies counts your level as well as number of trophies. Trophies are like a meta game really.

They both serve the same purpose, but I like the presentation of Trophies more. Its easier to discern what a user has. Plus they have a little more depth to them.

i liked what solidty said actually, like me and my friend tried to finish spec ops on MW2. But then we so all the trophies for MW2 (which was pretty easy) then we tried to finish it on veteran and such and actually both of us got the platinum trophy for MW2. Like i dont like people saying im better then you just because he got 200 trophies and such sh*t

PS3 - 4 types of trophies. Bronze, silver, gold, platinum. Basically there's only 1 platinum and that's getting all the other trophies.

360 - gamerscore. Basically you get points per achievement. Designers can allow small achievements or large ones based on difficulty. Also the 360 now has avatar awards which unlock stuff for your avatar... not really achievements persay, but along the same lines.

I like the idea of trophies, but sony effed them all up trying to copy achievements instead of coming up a unique system on their own.

You forgot that PS3 Trophies have been offering Home items and outfits, as well as Themes and pics when you unlock certain trophies in certain games, just to let you know. I would know, I have about 2500+ Trophies, and 100,000 Gamerscore, so I know all there is to know about these things. The game I got avatar stuff was L4D2, which was cool...but yeah, Home outfits were available before any of that.

Aren't they essentially the same? Like the lower tier bronze trophies you have to do the same thing to get their Xbox counterparts Achievement?

I hate the concept of Platinum trophies. Every game has one or two dumb achievements that everyone hates. Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360 has an achievement where you have t beat the entire game using the same weapon. And that 5 points for each weapon - dragon sword, claws, lunar staff and some others. You have to beat the game at least 5 or 6 times before you get 1000g ("Platinum")

I like both the achievement and trophy systems. They're pretty much the same but I slightly prefer the trophy system, I like the whole levelling thing and I find the platinum trophy slightly more rewarding than getting 1K gamerscore for a game (even though I've only got 1).

I prefer achievements because they have been standard with every game since launch, you don't have to sync them every time you earn new ones and lastly because they are laid out better on screen.

Actually the poitns show a total theoreticle amount you could have and how much you actually have. You can tell how fully you complete games.

They're pretty much the same concept, just with a different execution. That being said, I kinda like trophies more. A trophy's type (Silver, Bronze, etc.) is like points, and then trophies increase your level. It just feels more rewarding, to an extent. Plus its nice to see the individual amounts of what kind of each trophy you've got.

You can't actually use that to see if someone has gotten 100% of a game's achievements though, just how many of their possible achievements they've actually gotten. With trophies, you just look right at the trophy card and see how many platinums they have,

Agreed, getting trophies and achievements is great fun and trying to get a Platinum is awesome.

I too prefer the Platinum trophy since you it shows that you've gained every single trophy in a certain game whereas your gamerscore doesn't but I'm guessing that there's a way to check what achievements a person has anyway so it's cool.

Trophies and achievements are identical and I think both are great, they add replay value and it's fun to compare them with friends.

The thing is though is that you've had 100,000 gamerscore for ages. I remember last summer (roughly) you had about 93,000 GP. In the time since you've only gotten 7,000 GP. That's very little points, especially compared to how many you had. At one point you even went months without playing any 360 games. Your gamercard just showed that the last game you played was C&C. IMO, this all means that you've been playing PS3 far more and are naturally more biased towards it. I wouldn't mind that so much exceptthat you put this facade on to cover it. You claim you're a completly neutral gamer who just wants to enjoy gaming but so many times I've seen a PS3 fanboy poke it's head out. Just admit it already.

feel the same way. The only downer with trophies is that not all games have them. Adding trophies to VC and MGS4 would make me play both games over for hours.

I don't really care about gamerscore, but there's nothing more satisfying than seeing "Achievement Unlocked" and the sound it makes :P

Also, I'm not even sure if this comes with PSN trophies, but I think it's cool that you can unlock Avatar stuff by getting achievements.

Both are the same thing, I mean Exactly the same.

Find a new multiplat at least a 2008 release, check the requirements for each achievement/trophy and you'll see they are the same.

Differences are Acheivements are point values, where trophies are more like ranks or types (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Trophies for most games offer a platinum for earning all other trophies (that come with the game meaning DLC trophies are extras)

Achievements are a total sum of all acheivements for each game (giving each player a total gamerscore), Trophies give the player different levels where Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum each count more towards that level, I think bronze = 1, silver = 2, gold = 3, and platinum = 6. (meaning it will take 6 bronze trophies to equal the value of 1 platinum)

Every Retail 360 Game has Achievements, I think, and Most PS3 games have them (2008 releases to present) but not all.

Other than that, however, they are the same.

I do and I did. That's why my gamerscore and PSN account are high, because we do challenges on both. They gave up on 360 when I hit 100,000+, and moved to conquer me on PS3, that's all.

Thats alot of trophies you have SolidTy!!! I still dont have a Platinum trophy in any game.

Trophies>>Achievements.

At least with trophies you can tell theres ones that were actually difficult to get, unlike with gamerscore, where your just given tons for playing a game.

You get almost 500 just from beating halo 3 on normal, like its some accomplishment or something.

They essentially serve the same purpose. So they're in the same category, but on different systems.

[QUOTE="zarshack"]I love how you always manage to bring up your trophies/gamerscore in conversations :P

All that hard work I did just for SW :P ...and I have to admit, SW is the most fun place to let folks know about it.

Plus I have 100,000 Gamerscore and 2500+ trophies, I have to tell someone.

No really, it's just lols on my end. I just love threads about this topic, it's my time to shine. :P

You want him to admit that he enjoys his PS3 more than 360? Does that even matter? If he treats the systems and games fairly and enjoys them, then it's all good.

Only 7,000 within a year you say? That's more than I have altogether since May of 2006 (then again, my situation is a bit complicated and unique). So, he's biased towards the PS3 because of the amount of 360 he's played within the last year? That's literally one of the worst accusations I've seen on this board :?. I guess that initial 93,000 gamerscore proves he was biased toward the 360 at that point?

What's more important I think, is how one feels about gaming and come across as a gamer. It's obvious SolidTy likes both the PS3 and 360 and has frankly invested more time into his 360 than many people who point this non-issue out.

Actually, I have more than 100,000, lol, hence the 100,0000 +. Secondly, I don't get Gamerscore for maxed out gamerscore games I play all the time on LIVE like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter, GeoW2, etc...so when I play those games and more, my score is not going to move up. lol. I have been playing the Halo Reach Beta, but since I don't get Gamerscore I better watch out for guys looking at my wonderful score. I also have a Wii, a different 360 account, and a PS3 to enjoy, lol.

Call me when you get a high gamerscore and high PSN account. I love your 124 trophies. BTW, my gamercard is on private, so you have no idea what I've recently played, however, I do play C&C with friends all the time. But I don't get gamerscore for that...uh oh. I shouldn't play my game collection because my gamerscore is being spyed on?;)

As far as admitting anything, all I see in these threads about gamerscore is jealous 360 fans that get angry at my awesomeness. Get on my posts when you detect whatever it is you are trying to detect. Your post above just jumps aggressively at me for being awesome. That's what I see. What about my post above was wrong? Nothing, so you made it personal. The anger I see here in SW is usually guys that either have no PS3, or hardly use their PS3 with almost no trophies and over 10,000 Gamerscore, or just angry gamers that want to knock me down a peg because it's SW or whatever...whereas I have a giant Gamerscore they cry at due to my awesomeness. I have a level 18 PSN account due to awesomeness. True story. This isn't the first thread filled with wonderful spies that try so hard. :P

What I have accomplished with both my accounts no one in SW has done with both, and there is no problems with me strutting my stuff in a thread about that topic. What's the problem? It's jealousy, I know it. Go ahead and roll the eyes, but that's what I see. Haters are going to hate, drinking some haterade.

I am an active 360 gamer as I pay for Xbox Live GOLD since the beginning (Xbox days), and I'm not letting my gold go to waste...besides, I have a real life to worry about in addition to gaming no matter how hard you spy.

I guess I can't play Street Fighter now, since I get no more gamerscore for it in MP matches...:( What am I to do? Let my 360 game collection rot because it doesn't get me any gamerscore?
Can I help it if my friends challenge me to a PS3 or Wii game? Oh no! That means no Gamerscore! But what about the Xbox spys? I guess they will be unhappy.:(

I play MGS4, MvC2, and Street Fighter games on PS3 from time to time as well, and I get no Trophies from those either...Maybe I shouldn't play my PS3 games now? I get no Trophies?:( Oh No!

My cousin has had a 360 since 2005 like me, and guess what, his gamerscore is almost at 19.000...I guess he doesn't play the 360 as much as you'd assume...but you'd be wrong. He has that thing on almost every day, but he loves certain games and gets no gamerscore for playing the games he loves, Halo 3, GeoW, GeoW2, COD, etc. He has those games maxed, but keeps playing them. He is going to be sad when I tell him what that means.

Also, When I got 3 RROD's and E74 once, I couldn't play my 360...does that mean I should report that to you? When My 360 went down?

You need to keep in mind I have other consoles to play, friends to compete with on a variety of consoles/PC, and a life to live.;)

I have been on here since 07 and SolidTy has always came off as a neutral poster. I have seen him bash the PS3 and 360 equally if he does not agree with a particular game or issue regardingeach console respectively. He is just a straight shooter. Maybe his gamerscore has not changed much according to you because the PS3 is delivering the games he wants to play more often then the 360 is now. Why does it even matter to you? God forbid somebody on here prefers one system over another. I guess you would have rather had him just outright bash the 360 so you and others could more easily bash him for being a fanboy then just throwing subtle jabs? This place is really pathetic sometimes.
