Feels like RDR is the most disappointing game, especially the horrible Undead Nightmare expansion. Simply because the zombies aren't fun to kill in the game.
What's yours?
Best one is probably Super Meat Boy

tbh I'd have to agree, RDR was a very good game but I expected so much more enjoyment out of it then I got.
GT5 is up there too though simply because I was one of the ones hyping it at at least AAA but expected an AAAA
Not quite what I was expecting. I wasnt expecting alot from the get go but I was expecting an AE game with a pretty solid SP and decent MP.
Surprisingly the multiplayer is where the game shined for me. The SP was just a huge dissapointment.
Good game but very dissapointing.
This game was pure fun for me in both SP and MP, only thing that annoyed me about it was..its just pretty easy! the final boss wasnt challenging at all..if i have to chose the dissapointment of this year then it gotta be Castle Crashers, just wasnt how i expected it to be.. other than that everything i played was pretty fun.. 2010 was an epic year for games and 2011 will be even more epicNot quite what I was expecting. the most disappointing for me was FFXIV online , FFXI its my favourite game of all time, i expected FFXIV to be a 1000x better... but i got exactly the opposite, BUT recently square-enix apologized for it then fired the staff and director and its now restructuring the entire game soooo i might give it a chance when ps3 version comes out, my second most dissapointing game would be white knight chronicles, it had so much potential, great art design (IMO) and decent graphics, everything else was just terrible beyond words, although the character customization its the best i ever had the grace to touch, such a waste :(
COD Black ops. The game engine is horrible and out dated. It also has way too many bugs.

Dont buy the PS3 version then;)
1. Mass Effect 2 ~ for basically ruining the IP for me
2. Dead Rising 2 ~ ACII for DR, did everything better, but just didn't feel as fun (couldn't even finish it)
3. Red Dead Redemption ~ an amazing world with a terrible story and horribly boring missions
Honourable Mention: Just Cause 2 ~ It was given to me with a description of it being "absolutely fantastic." It definitely was, until it got incredibly repetitive and pretty boring. Its a great action game, but has little to drive it.
Surprises:
1. Fallout: New Vegas ~ I wasn't expecting a role-playing experience almost as good as VtMB, with solid combat to boot
2. Donkey Kong Country: Returns ~ I was expecting a good game... but not something that mops the floor with the Rare originals
3. Cursed Mountain ~ I wasn't expecting the level of integration of Vajrayana Buddhism into a game, or the quality of integration
Honourable Mention: Kirby's Epic Yarn ~ A super-cute game that might be easy, but is fun in that "guilty-pleasure" way.
Hmm... For me it was probably Alpha Protocol...
I was expecting something good, not a mountain of bugs and other crap

SMT: Strange Journey. I'll try to give it another try someday.Luxen90
Same here. I was really excited for this game. I mean, finally, an installment to the main series, but I was left disappointed. The combat was average; it was way too simplistic compared to the other games in the series. Co-op attack wasn't interesting, but I did like the idea of having you align with demons of the same alignment. I hope the press turn system returns for the next SMT game. The story was so-so. The first half was basically a rescue mission filled with fetch quests. However, I found the second half interesting.
One thing that really disappointed me was that both law's and chaos' opinions were taken to the extreme. None of them brought up great points, so I just stayed neutral. Devil Survivor did the manipulation great, imo. Each side brought up great, valid points. They did an excellent job convincing you to join them. I loved the dungeon crawling though.
I would also like mention Red Dead Redemption. I recently rented it and found it boring. The first few hours are just a ranch simulator, none of the gun fights are entertaining, and riding your horse for five minutes towards your mission destination was dull.
Its bad points are more memorable than its redeeming ones, so every time I write about it I just become pissed at its inadequacies. So for me it's a pretty obvious pick:
That he had the balls to release this game in its miserable state. I don't really think he's (solely) to blame here, I just wanted to talk about Peter Molyneux's balls (you can tickle them).
Honorable mention: Gran Turismo 5
Many a times have I asked myself why a certain thing about it is the way it is, and I can't think of a reason. At its core it's still good at being what GT typically stands for, but all the hype beforehand made it sound like PD had taken a vast step beyond that. And they kind of haven't.
Yeah.. but no one was expected it to be good after FF IX. There wasn't that much hype for that game. GT5 was definitely the most disappointing considering how long it was in development. There was no excuse for a half finished game when you've spent more then 5 years on it. RDR won GoTY and has a 88% Metecritics score. It scored a 9.5 by Gamespot. Not sure how anyone could be disappointed with this game. I think people are just disappointed that one of their exclusives didn't win GoTY and they are trying to make RDR the scape goat. Sorry, but RDR was a brilliant game.Final Fantasy XIV might be the worst game I've EVER played.

An RPG obviously.
Then you got what you asked for. It was a perfectly good rpg.DKCR: i expected a game that would take me back too a time when 2D platformers ruled. but was almost ruined by the pointless shake controls and it turned out that super meat boy was a much better 2D plaformer anyway and wasn't over priced like DKCR
GoW3: i did enjoy it but i guess i was spoilt by bayonetta
For me it was Resonance of Fate. There were just some things about the gameplay that sucked the fun out of the game. Not a bad game, but pretty disappointing for me.
For me it's Black Ops. I was really looking forward to a good alternative to Modern Warfare 2, and Black Ops didn't deliver. I'm part of the apparent minority who prefer Modern Warfare 2 over Black Ops.
New Vegas. Just a broken piece of ****. Tried to get back into recently but couldn't due to the game constantly freezing and making my console lock up. :| When it actually wasn't freezing up, the game was very boring. Unlike Fallout 3, which was not boring and also not broken.
