DOOM 3 for me so far, I say so far because I'm going through RE4 right now for the first time which is a mind blowing game btw.I can't nail a single moment of fear and lable it the scariest from playing DOOM 3 butI'lltell you guys one occasion of a few ofhow I almost crapped my pants.

I was going though some vents and the vents came to an end and there was a place where you could drop down. I really couldn't see much, maybe a few crates. It sounded quiet, the usual humming of machinery that is so common in the game. I jump down and see a dark figure in the distance that I didn't recognize. I though it might be an NPC survivor I could talk to. No. Absoloutely the opposite. This thing shoots it's rubber-like arm out at me from like 15 feet away and flings itself at me. Blood is all over the screen as I see a zombie commando face to face. I completely didn't expect anything like that at all.I then paused the game and caught my breathe, unpaused and shot em' at point blank with my shotgun.

P.S: Is it "The most scared" or "The scaredest"? That's probably a dumb question but in the summer my brain shuts down, apologies. :P

First time I played Half Life 2, I was actually a bit scared of Ravenholm. Especially that part where there are tons of zombies and they just keep coming. I never knew that there would be no ammo so I never conserved it very well in that level. I got pretty scared when all I had to work with was a propeller blade and a gravity gun.

Also the music was so spooky and depressing (that's what I love about dystopian theme of Half Life 2)

I would have to say RE4, when the chainsaw people were chasing after me! Great game btw, you're gonna love it.

And I think it's "most scared", pretty sure "scaredest" isn't a real word.

Metroid. Granted I was like 7 at the time, but when the life sucking things attach to you, and you have *no* clue what you're supposed to do, you tend to panic. I turned off the game.

And didn't play it again for a few years.

Yea I questioned that word's existance as well ... So far in RE4 I've just picked up Ashley and am making my way to the hellicopter. The first boss battle was the most epic I've ever played. I couldn't believe how cinematic it was. So far the game's incredible in every way. I say to myself while I play it "I can't believe this is a last gen game".

How tempting is it to kill Ashley?

If you shoot her though she ducks and runs away, lmao. If you get her to stand under a chandelier and shoot the chandelier, she dies in a very loud bang!

I always kill the person I'm supposed to save, lol.

She's completely helpless. I think Princess Peach could fair better than Ashley alone. I've accidently killed her a few times. That's the worst way to start all over...

I'm going to say DOOM 3 aswell, it's sad though because when you look back, they use the same scare tactics over and over ,little weird noises or things move, something pops up behind you then you get hurt, things crawl out of holes, vents, stairsa lot, but I was scared a lot.

EDIT: And to make things worse, the game is so God damn dark, it's not even funny, it's like the freaking futureand you're on Mars, with no back up electrical system? Give me a freaking break!

The sewer level in Star Wars Shadows of the Empire for the N64 scared the ever living s*** out of me when I was little. Hearing those monsters moaning beneath me along with that scary music, and knowing I had to jump in the water with them, seriously almost did me in. That level made me hate water in any kind of game even till this day. Hell that level even made it hard for me to jump into water in Banjo Kazooie. I know it is pathetic.

RE4 wasn't really "scary" perse, it was more eerie and just weird. The game that made me jump out of my seat and had the best atmosphere has to be AVP2. It's always scary as hell when you hear the "beep, beep, beep" of your motion tracker yet you can't see anything.

you have to admit that one part in Act 5 where you enter that prison and you see that bag in the dumpster that's moving is pretty scary...man that was weird...then you move forward and see different gross things in each cell, and you hear the slow and harsh breathing of the regenerator. You move forward and BAM it comes up from behind you and scares you sh**less.

I agree, what a completely underrated game. The online on that game was sick with survivor mode.

The crazy chainsaw guys are the only thing that scared me in that game. The first time I walked out of that house then hear the buzzing of the chainsaw I was like sweet mother of god what the hell is that. Then when they chased you down that was pretty tense too. The Regenerators were't that scary for me. I was expecting them to be some kind of extremely fast and agile monkey type thing or something. That reminds me, the invisable ninjas from FEAR scared the hell out of me. The best thing about RE4 though was the setting and the scenario. The beginning of the first chapter was really eerie. The knights in the castle were kind of creepy too.

Yeah, Monolith really needs to make AVP3. Isn't some other developer making a Aliens game or something though?

Yeah, The Regenerators were scary as hell. When you go into the sewers after facing that (other really scary guy when you meet him for the first time) Blind dude with the claws for attached to his hands who was locked in the prison dungeon. Man, what a good game.

There was this one part in RE4 where a flaming monster came screaming and running at me out of an oven in the middle of a dark kitchen with tons of bloody knifes and equipment everywhere. Scared the buh-jesus out of me.

It was when I first played Doom. I still remember the music and the noises from the demons when I shot them in my head. I played it for about 15 minutes then turned it of. And what made itweird was having the character's head move left slight pause then move right i repeatedly in the health bar screen.

[QUOTE="FireEmblem_Man"]REmake!!! Lisa Trevor just won't die with a regular weapon!!! And when she gets back up, she gets stronger and faster!!! She scared in her cabin and definetly scared me in the catacombs!!! She just can't die with a gun!!!bigcalkenobi

Yea, that was one of the things that really scared the crap out of me was Lisa.

I had a nightmare of her!!! It was when I was at school and somehow the hallways got bigger and no one was around I was heading out in the stairwells until I heard some chain noise, I went to go check it out and it was Lisa!!! So I ran off to the stairs but it ended up becoming a wall so I was trapped and so the hallways became smaller and Lisa came a front of me and swung her chains at me and the next thing I did is dodge and hit another wall and so the hallway became an empty room with no way out and so she swung again and I woke up!!! It was a pretty intense dream!!! Now that I'm older, I still play REmake and no longer afraid of Lisa!!!

Lol. I love DOOM 3 but I never had the balls to play it alone and in the dark. That's just asking for it.

FEAR had some pretty scary moments, but nothing list-worthy. I'd have to say the time I played MGS3 and I was fighting the End. I had learned after losing to him twice, that he can sneak up on you and shoot you right in the back. I was afraid to spend too much time looking for him through my rifle scope. I had to keep checking behind me every few minuteswith the directional microphone and my thermal goggles. That whole forest you fight him inwas creepy, especially since it's said to be haunted and when it fogs up, it gets pretty claustrophobic. Sometimes, I would be up on a ridge, withthe microphone equipped, trying to catch the sound of his breathing. Then suddenly, I'd hear "thump thump thump thump THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP thump thump thump..." I could here him running to a new sniping spot, and he would just fade into the distance. It was frustrating and creepy at the same time.

System Shock 2.

I've recently replayed it just because Bioshock is coming out soon and everything, I found out that I still have to force myself to peek through thaaat door at the end of the hallway, from the other side of which weird noises could be heard just a minute ago. Considering that it's my third playthrough too.

A winner is you. System Shock was creepy as heck... and it was not a cheap thrill. SHODAN's voice, the zombies, the ghosts... that was one atmospheric game.

In more recent times... well, once I had the marvelously stupid idea of playing condemned at 3am with the lights out while slightly drunk, slightly before a windstorm hit my city.

Yeah, I didn't sleep much that night.
