Project Origin.
FEAR had some of the best graphics and physics around when it came out, so I'm betting the true sequal will too.
elbow2k
Sadly, it will be using a modified FEAR engine, and since its in development for consoles, it won't be the graphical powerhouse we all hoped it would be.

Yeah, very true. However it should still be a great looking game, just not cutting edge.[QUOTE="Floodedstreet"]what are you talking about. everyone knows that fable 2 is goin to wtfpwn crysis with its 10000 lpt with realistic moving shadows!kaos-hero
he is still around. And he is still saying Fable 2 looks as good as Crysis.
While Far Cry 2 will definiately come close, I'm pretty sure we won't see anything more graphically-superior than Crysis for a long while, considering that the recently-released 9800 series STILL can't max out Crysis as well. Until the 10 series comes out, we'll probably see games that are either as graphically powerful as Crysis or close to it; nothing above it.
FarCry 2 if they don't dumb it down too much for the console versions. Lazy_Boy88
it looked slightly worse than Crysis in what was shown but we shall see. And Crytek hasn't patched in their Ultra-High settings and won't for another year. That is right, Crysis doesn't even have its highest settings in the game assets. The engine does support much, MUCH higher detail stuff though. Certain things can be changed through config files but other things can't and that is what will be coming via patch later on. So, I don't see any game taking Crysis' crown for a long time.

That is precisely what I love about the game. Playing it on Medium/High settings, the game looked like the best thing I have ever seen. The experience was also just amazing. Now, a year or so later, when I want to replay it, I will likely have an upgraded rig and will play it like never before. Pretty sweet deal, if you ask me.

DOes it matter the game looks awesome.. Hell I would take a sequel from thm with the old engine.. The old FEAR still looks amazing on the computer specially in action.

Yeah, very true. However it should still be a great looking game, just not cutting edge.Fear was built from the ground up for pc. Monolith is known for having cutting edge graphics but things have changed and Project Origin like many other games is being designed around console capabilities. I expect the difference from Fear to Origin to be like the difference between HL2 and EP2.
If the game was designed specifically for pc it would probably outshine Crysis since its a corridor shooter which makes it less demanding.
Empire:Total War and Storm of War will do to their genres' graphics what Crysis did to FPSes, but something beyond Crysis? It will be hard with consoles holding the progress down, Project Offset has a chance if it's getting redesigned after Intel bought the companyAdrianWerner
Do we really need that kind of progress though? Crysis is a late 2008 early 2009 game at least, released in 2007..Simple as that.

Not sure about it being a complete corridor shooter.. THe latest trailers gave you glimpses of being outside.

It's shame, because both Origin and Condemned2 look like only small graphical upgrades over their predecessors, it's nowhere near the jump Monolith always made
It's rather likely that consoles are seriously holding Lith back :(

Why do people keep blabering about consoles dubbing down the game? If anything you should be worried about its low end pc's. FC2 was shown on the 360 and said to already to have looked better then the orginal pc demo they showed and many people thought that looked as good as Crysis.

Thats what consoles do, they hold back technology and dev's. It's PC that moves it forward.

but you've got the consoles limiting this time round, fear was only originlly on pc but this time its multi plat also isn't it basicly the same engine?

well consoles are a low end pc, a pc with a 8600gt beats consoles every time

What is that game, that happens to be the next 3Dmark benchmark? I think that will be the next graphics king overall.

I know, seems like I read somewhere that it would also be a PC game. Isn't it called Vantage or whatever?
You know, I had only seen small gameplay videos of Project Origin, and was hyped because Monolith was calling this the true sequal to FEAR, a game which I hold in the highest regard.
It's safe to say in span of three pages, my hype for it has been crushed.

Better graphics + better physics = better enviroments --> What FEAR is about.
Better physics + better enemy AI or even team AI = better gameplay --> What FEAR is about.
As you can see, those things have nothing to do with it being open ended, and are highly important to the game.
