What's The One Game You Want To Beat This Month?

It seems people always complain about how big their backlogs are, or commit to beating the games they already own for the New Year. It could be a good plan to commit to beating at least one game for the month, and at the end of Jan see how you did.

For me, it's going to be Horizon Zero Dawn. This is a title I bought along with my PS4 but I stepped away from it after a number of hours (a bit after coming to the Sun God's city?) because the story wasn't quite drawing me in and some dumb gameplay mechanics. But I think it would be good to go back and give it another chance because robot dinos are cool

Should I make it through that probably start chipping away some at P5 and/or start some of the PC games I got from Humble Monthly recently (ROTTR, QB, etc)

How about you SW?

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony after I beat Ultra Despair Girls. I should be able to beat that within the next couple days.

I guess I want to beat Rime. I think I'm pretty close to the end so it should be achievable.

I just bought Mighty Number 9 and wanted to beat it with in a few days...but the game is so piss poor I don't know if I will or not now. The controls and mechanics are just so clunky and not fun.

Cuphead

Although I don't have it yet, I do plan on beating Shadow of the Colossus Remake at least a couple of times.

Xenoblade 2. But it is a massive game, so I'm not sure if that will happen to February.

Probably the rest of Nier: Automata. I quit the game after ending A. Yes I know I'm terrible, but play through B went to the bottom of my backlog for awhile since it is pretty slow.

Ehh, finishing Cuphead or Wolfenstein II. I really want to get back to PREY but I don't want to subject it to a timetable.

Breath of the wild. But thats unlikely since ill have to take a break for the new Digimon and DBZ game that come out this month.

Give it up on Horizon, @drlostrib. It's not worth it. :P

I'm hoping I'll get through 2 out of 3 here: The Frozen Wilds, Dark Souls 3, or DOOM. Here's to hoping it can happen.

I'm all in on Nier Automata at the moment. I just started route B and am loving it so far. I hope the hype surrounding route C and beyond doesn't ruin it all for me. I'm really excited to see what's next.

@goldenelementxl: Keep me updated on your playthrough of Nier Automata. Not to keep raising the hype, but I liked the game in A & B and then Route C was where it all clicked and I was amazed. So I really want to know what you think about it.

I’d like to beat Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before Monster Hunter World comes out but it’s a pretty big game so we’ll see.

I JUST BEAT FF XIII (100%) FOR 5TH TIME YESTERDAY

Knack 2 (never played the 1st one , but I'm giving this one a shot)

After beating a string of darker titles - Wolfenstein II , Hellblade , and Prey ... it's time for something lighter. I'll be back on the grind with The Evil Within 2 after The Knackening.

I beat 3 games recently(Mafia 3, Star Ocean Faithlessness/Integrity and Guardians of the galaxy). Proud of myself. I am chipping away at it.

EDIT: I forgot I also beat Halo 4, Halo 5 And Gears Of War 4 in the last couple weeks. That’s 6+ games. Also beat Bound and a couple other old PSN games. I am on a roll right now lol

Within the next week or so, I plan on beating 4 games.

1. Life is Strange. 20% complete. I can easily beat this tomorrow in one sitting if I want but these story heavy walking sims drain me.

2. The Elder Scrolls Online. Have no idea how far I am in it, but I need to finish it soon. I don’t want the game on my shelf anymore lol.

3. The LEGO Movie Videogame: I destroyed this game on PS3 and bought the PS4 version because I loved it so much. I KNOW I can platinum this game in under 16 hours. 2 8 hour gaming sessions.

4. Yooka Laylee: Just started the game. Have mixed feelings on it. Will give an honest effort, but I can see myself saying screw it and just selling it.

Like I said: 1-2 weeks and I will have these 4 beat and sold off.

I really should finish Odyssey and Cuphead. I have like 850 moons in Odyssey, and I was at the very final stretch of Cuphead when I stopped playing.

But between SFVAE and DBFZ launching this month, probably not gonna happen.

Assassin's Creed Origins

Yakuza 5. It's the last one I need to beat to finish up my long running marathon.

SMO, now that I'm done with university

Probably try finish Sniper Elite 2 or Jedi Knight: Outcast.

maybe ill also try to finish Mario odyssey

Currently playing Bayonetta so I should beat that in a week or so

I'm now downloading Saints Row 2, should complete before month's end

I also plan to hit Sly Cooper Thieveus Raccoonus

I want to beat the new Ass Creed but I can't stop playing PUBG!

Injustice 2. With Enchantress coming just around the corner, I'll finally be able to break away from my dumbass personal tradition and put a decent string of practice matches together to finally beat the story mode.

Also, Freedom Planet. Just started playing this again. Dunno why.

@uninspiredcup: I want to finish Sniper Elite 4 this month but dunno of I'll be able to as I'm playing the game in co-op. So playing it depends on both of us having some free hours of time :)

I want to hit #1 in PUBG... Closest I have been is 9th, got sniped from I don't know where my back was facing the cliff and in front of me was a tree this was before the kill cam patch.

Forgot I've got an SNES Classic sitting in a drawer for me since it arrived the day before i started traveling for New Years holiday, probably should crack into that thing after HZD

Persona 5. I've been sleeping on it for a while, and I finally started playing. Goodness it is an amazing game. I'm not the type who's typically into consuming non-action games a lot, but the complexity and challenge (I picked hard mode) are extremely satisfying.

I regret not enjoying it along with everyone else on the board, but I don't regret my choice of religiously playing Nioh at the time. That game is also amazing.

EDIT: also, I want to get my Tekken 7 rank above yellow on pc this month

I'm deep into Divinity Original Sin 2, so that's my target to complete and then move onto the next game in my backlog.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Chrono Trigger. If I can beat both this month I'll most likely start new playthroughs of Final Fantasy XIII and Red Dead Redemption.

Xenogears 2.

Although I have about ten games I have bought that I haven't beat...

Resident Evil 7 - Ethan must Die mode... I made it all the way to Marguerite last time I loaded up, but my heart was pounding too fast and she came flying off the top rope for an OHK.

If I make it back to her, I'll be ready next time.

Subnautica so I can devote more time to EQ and FO4VR. Really enjoying Subnautica though.

I actually started loving it mid-way through the B route. Once the twists started I was able to forgive the issues with route A. But damn, I'm on C now and all I want to do is see where all of this is going. I haven't been this hooked on a story since Mass Effect 1.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse (XBOX ONE) so I can start the second one.

Trying to beat AC Origins before Monster Hunter World releases.

I’m trying to beat Resident Evil 7, before that it was Doom. I try but Rocket League is just so addicting, I can’t stop playing it.

@drlostrib: Good question, doc. I've been thinking the same in regards to Horizon. I loved the mechanics but I got bored with the robodinos and the story is snail pace boredom. But I may go back to it.

Otherwise I was thinking of Monster Hunter world co op with my buds @getyeryayasout and @Heil68 if yayas can get over this pipe dream Seahawks are going anywhere in the playoffs LOL ?

Oddly enough, I made a list of games I need to beat over the next few months. January included Bioshock and Bastion. Both have been completed already. I am currently working on Fable Anniversary (next months game).

Yeah the next time I played it I beat it. I literally had a few minutes left. It was decent.
