C'mon. The year isn't exactly over yet, but I still don't think there will be anymore sleeper hits this year, so choose!
I voted for de Blob.

Omg.... guys get educated!
You cannot tell a 'sleeper hit' within the year of release! A sleeper hit is something which picks up popularity over time! It can be Halo 3 which initially sells slow and then picks up 8 million copies in 2 years, but it's usually a relatively unknown title.
What you are most likely discussing is a dark horse, which is a title that from out of nowhere came to be a critical or commercial success.
This game is the DEFINITION of sleeper hit
made on a bugdet of 1 million $ and sold 500,000 copies.
and has a 88 % metacritic average and a 9.0 from gamespot.

A sleeper hit (often simply called a "sleeper") refers to a film, book, single, album, TV show, or video game that gains unexpected success or recognition.
Then again wikipedia isn't the best place to get facts from.

We have a winner, this game is amazing. It looks great has a massive scale and the battles are fast and intense.

Semantics. Who cares. Everyone knows what we're talking about here.
LittleBigPlanet.-Renegade
-_-
how is this a sleeper hit. its been hyped ever since it was first shown and SW always has a gazillion threads of LBP going to have AAA status.

DeathScape666
Dead Space easily IMO.
Either Dead Space or Braid.
Really bad poll selection TC. None of those games compare to the above two.

That's only because I don't consider Dead Space or Braid sleeper hits.
Also, three of the four choices are AAA games. The other one is A.
[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]I am going to say Banjo since a lot of people expect it to fail.Espada12
Isn't out yet nor does it have any reviews I think.
he said sleeper hit of the year. Not what is the sleeper hit of the year so far.[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]I am going to say Banjo since a lot of people expect it to fail.too_much_eslim

Dead Space? Not a sleeper hit? Dude, people expected it to fail horribly.

Only Professor Layton and Patapon are AAA, and people expected Patapon to be AAA, it was not a sleeper hit. De Blob is AA, and Siren is A (how is this a hit:?).
Dead Space is AAA, and Braid is high AAA, and Braid is a game no one ever saw coming.
Sins of a Solar Empire easily.
Nobody expected it to be that good.
Braid and World of Goo turned out fantastic, but they had insane ammounts of hype among everyone who knew at least a bit about indie games.
what? It was the equivalent of SPORE+Gears of War 2 hype combined among indie games. Every indie site was raving about it for the last 3 years.Braid is high AAA, and Braid is a game no one ever saw coming.
Samurai_Xavier
Why didn't you guys think Sins of a Solar Empire wouldn't be that good? Stardock put out the Galactic Civilization games, which are amazing, imho.BioShockOwnz
Stardock wasn't the developer of Sins, Ironclad games was, Stardock was just helping and the early beta impressions were pretty meh (of course they started beta very early, which is one of the reasons why the game owns so much nowadays).
People expected it might be nice, but not anywhere near as good as it turned out to be

I dont really care about indie games and I dont visit indie sites, and I dont think many people do. I had never heard about Braid until it came out. So I guess for me, it was a huge sleeper hit.

I guess that was the problem, Braid was a PC game for most of it's dev time and then just when it was almost done it was "stolen" by MS and switched to XBLA, where nobody really knew what it was
but if you don't care about indie games why even bother with Braid? :D
