What's up with EA taking steps backwards in their game series rather than foward

I know a lot of people dislike EA, but really I haven't had too much problem with them until lately.  It seems they are just throwing these games out on the market to get as much money as they possibly can, while the games themselves are pretty much the same if not worse than the orginals.  Like for example NFL Street 3.  The NFL street franchise was going fine, there was a pretty good difference between NFL street 2 than 1 and it had a lot of different and better gameplay modes and that game came out less than a year from NFL Street.  Now NFL street 3 pretty much had the same gameplay mode as the first one, just pretty much more boring.  Game was pretty much competely stripped and the only thing it had on the first one is that it had online play which the second one already had.  Now looking at Burnout dominator, it seems like it is trying to go back to Burnout 3.  I really see no purpose for this game except to get more money for them.  SSX blur for the wii is going backwards too, with them trying to capture the style of all past SSX games they are really just going backwards on what they built up.

[/QUOTE Same with next gen Maddens. EA bought an exclusive NFL license, released stripped down next gen Maddens, and will only improve them little by little to keep the "fans" buying them every year. Hopefully 2K8 will offer real competition. That said, EA is the trailer trashy 800LB gorilla of publishers and NEEDS to lose a few fans. They care far more about "maximum profitability" than quality.

I have had every EA sports game since the begining, (I am 37) and have a major problem with them.

My buddy and I have play football, baseball and basketball, but mostly football, and mostly NCAA.

The games over the years have gotten better yearly, but we loved to scream about the defense sucking, and all those money plays, well they kept getting a little better and then BOOM  NCAA 05 on XBOX....... UNREAL GOOD....

We played the crap out of that game and couldn't wait for the new version with better graphics, and ....... letdown!!!

They went back to catering to the graphics ho's and let the gameplay pay for it.  NCAA 05 on the Xbox (no number) is the absolute most realistic playing football game period, and until they stop worrying about grpahics and sweat and facial features, I will not buy another one.  I now play my old (updated) Xbox, and the Wii.  I hate the new stuff, cause unless you are a FPS guy, those other systems are worthless.

And if you are a FPS guy, feel really good right now, cause all those graphics engines, and updated cores, and blah blah blah, are all for you!!!!!  That's why I sold my PS3 2 days after getting it, and why I refuse to buy another 360.. ever...  And anyone who wants to name a game on either of those 2 systems and say they are great... be honest and ask yourself if it really is, or does it just LOOK really great?  When was your last 98 yard TD pass or 75 yrd TD run, or your pitcher hit homers, or you hit 3 halftime half court 3's and do you run those same 2 plays in a pinch, you know your really good defense setup or a hail mary... yep, I thought so.

Play some Wii, until this overblown graphics crap wears off, sooner or later the graphics will be good enough they can start working on GAMEPLAY again.

That's competely untrue just plain due to one game as living evidence of it. Mass effect. Power doesn't just bring better graphics it also brings gameplay innovations.

All-Pro Football 2K8, the only game that has a chance at topping the current most-realistic football game, NFL 2K5.

Wrong. They dont step back. They just make tiny improvements to the game series every year.

I don't care what you guys say. Army of Two is one of my most anticipated titles this year. It looks badass. As CliffyB says, co-op is the underrated bastard stepchild of the industry.

The only EA SPORTS game that I still like is Tiger. If you want to bash a company for consistently releasing crap, 989 Sports is probably an even bigger offender than EA Sports....
