It is a Gamecube with a flashy new control system maybe? Um, almost no software support for hardcore gamers perhaps? Terrible online gaming function possibly? Zero serious First Person Shooter support by chance? The threat of tennis elbow? Those creepy Wii would like to play ads?donny666

People like to hate whats popular. Its the "cool" thing to do.
It's lonely at the top.

Ya, but we can laugh while we watch videos like these http://gonintendo.com/?p=27685
Its like the perverbial rock we have to push off the cliff and watch if it hits the competition
I hate it's price and it's fanboys. The Wii is just a repackaged Gamecube with a new controller. Last gen visuals low budget game for full price. VC is ROM downloads for $10. Everything about the Wii is a complete rip-off in every way. And then you have the move towards making games dumbed down enough for everyone to play. I'd have no problem with the Wii if the price reflected the content. As is the price gets in the way of people buying a real game system to go along with it.Lazy_Boy88
The problem I have with the VC is that nothing is different from the original titles. Atleast XBLA adds improved visuals and Online play (I play the Hell out of Ninja Turtles Online). But with the VC you're basically giving Nintendo money.. I swear I don't see how sheep and cows are calling XBL a rip off.

then whats with the ps3 hate?
Haziqon, it would seem you're not getting any good reasons for Wii-Hate.
Which I would assume is what you expected.

NO the wii-supporters are choosing to ignore any good reasons..
but then again.. that's what I expected.
Well, the only good one I've seen so far is your issue with price and the current library.
Other than that... no not at all.
It's frankly not a good system. The games on it are rehashes, and they have nothing but familiarity in them. The Wii is not a compelling purchase, to be honest. TkLive

I guess it could be any of these things:
Wii has limited hardware
http://72.3.228.88/blogs/levelup/archive/2007/09/24/is-wii-really-gamecube-one-point-five-yes-says-beyond3d.aspx
To summarize, while the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are both at least an order of magnitude faster than their predecessors, the Wii has the processing power of one-and-a-half GameCubes with no noteworthy increases in functionality. This was done for two reasons: backwards compatibility with the GameCube and, more importantly, the very low cost. Developers have even told us that the transition guide (for GameCube developers moving to the Wii) is ten pages long and contains only very minor changes.
The Wii has a poor online service, with a small collection and friends code and what not.
Poor library of games compared to the other consoles:
AA and up games
Wii: 12
PS3:30
360:60

Its more powerful than the gamecube, its about on par with XBox. Software support for hardcore is there. MP3:C, SMG, SSBB, No More Heroes, FF CC: CB, Manhunt 2, and more. Might not interest you like another poster said, but the titles are available. FPS isnt a godly genre. but if your into FPS, yes, the wii is not the Way to go. Online is limited, but it isnt horrible.
I said almost no hardcore gamer support. I grew up on Nintendo just like most people did. Mario has a special place in my heart and I consider it a game that you can't passingly play. That said for every one game that catches my eye on the Wii 15 come out that look like great fun for an 8 year old. SSBB is all well and good but it is one game in the genre. The 360 and PS3 have libraries of fighting games. It boils down to are those titles, and I don't care how much you love the Wii you have to admit it is an extremely small list all of which isnt out yet, worth losing the online content offered by the competition not to mention the revolutionary games coming to/already out forthose consoles? For casual/family gamers that answer is yes, as sales numbers prove. As far as this and most other game forums go the answer is no. Hence all the hate.

Well that's part of the problem.. Nintendo focuses entirely too much on it's own franchises and rarely branches out.. The top hyped/promoted games are the ones we've been playing for the last 10-15 years.. Metroid, Zelda, Mario and that's it.. I'd like to see them do another Pikmin or allow a company to do a Eternal Darkness again. No more Heroes looks good but I'll reserve judgement on it. Zack and Wiki looks like somthing I'd give to my kids. And the rest seem like ports and or shovelware. I've always liked Nintendo's approach to VG's, but this gen it seems as though they're forgetting about the gamers and concentraiting on soccer moms. :?
Im not sure about everybody else and there reasons....but I dont like my Wii (im not gonan say hate)
Reasons
-Graphics are terrible to begin with, now they looked stretched out, pixelated and awful on my HDTV...even with componant cables
-There is like 3 good games...everything else is garbage...There is like a never ending stream of awfulness on this too....look at new reviews for the Wii...just bad games after bad games....
-Wiimote turned out to be garbage....I didnt know it was just gonna map buttons, I figured it was gonna be like motion sensing...instead its pretty much button pushing
*Game For Ps2* - "push X to attack"
*Game for Wii* - "move Wiimote left to attack*
and when games try to do real motion sensing it usually sucks terribly....then im left with a bad game with unusable controls....and to add to the contorllers badness....you have to be in a certain angle to the sensor...I play my 360 laying in bed and comfortable...with the Wiimote i have to be cramped up with the Wiimote in a certain position or the controller goes out of control...
-Online is non-existant
I dont hate it...because eventually I might have fun with super mario galaxy....but other than that one game..I cant see myself buying any new games for it...

People hate we out of Jealousy or delusion.
Some people think that its success means, no more "hardcore games" which isn't true. others may think it's success means developers will support it and not the 400-600 dollar consoles they bought, which is true and a good thing.
People just have a hard time understanding that other gamemakers will have to work extra hard to fight against the Wii, or come up with really innovative games on the Wii to get the publics attention. Which is good for everybody,
Others just hate that they won't get to play SMG, SSBB, MP3, etc.

They are doing another Pikmin. But isn't that a franchise and therefore a "rehash" by your logic?
I hate it because everything about it is bad:
- The hardware is just cheap. Everything about it is cheap. The CPU and GPU are weaker than an Xbox 1. It has no mass storage so you can't download demos or movies. The motion controls just barely work because they're a cobbled-together, low tech piece of crap. To top it off, it's "wireless" and yet there's a wire that goes from the nunchuck thing to the remote thing. Also the industrial design is ugly. From a hardware standpoint, the Wii just plain sucks. It's cheap to make and yet they sell it for about 4x what it costs to make.
- The games are HORRIBLE. 95% shovelware, 5% low budget first party titles that look REALLY pathetic compared to the blockbuster titles being released on real consoles. Seriously lame stuff.
- Marketed towards ULTRA-casuals. Not casuals but people who literally don't play games. This is why > 70% of Wiis are not used (see many other threads on the subject). As a result of this, the console has an aura of overwhelming lameness and this creates a self-perpetuating prophecy of more bad shovelware games getting dumped on it.
Enjoy your PS2 and DS ports!
I don't hate the Wii, I own one.
I don't think it's ruining the industry either.
I do, however, not care for the direction Nintendo is going this generation as a fan of the consoles since the NES. I don't really care for the controls, I could have played and fully enjoyed all my Wii games without them. Then the barely worth mentioning step in hardware prowess is just saddening to me.
So I like it, but I don't care for everything about it.
