Sorry if that has been posted a lot. Just curious. Both 3rd person and 1st person shooters are included, BTW.

For me, I'm debating between Bad Company 2 and Halo Reach.

BTW, for those who have played the game, how is Arma 2? I am just a big fan of these games withall out battles, which is why I like the Battlefield series, and was wondering how it is in comparison.

ARMA II is an acquired taste. It's hard to run, poorly optimized, and ridiculously fun if you can look past it's short comings. It's by far my favorite shooter, hands down. I'd check out the demo if your interested. But if your a big run and gun guy, which is what the battlefield games and Halo (especially) entail, than ARMA isn't for you. You will wind up with your brains all over the hill you were spiriting down as fast as the bullet travels from the barrel of the AK-47 it was fired from, to your head. You honestly can't even compare the two games, as ARMA comes about as close as you can get in a video game thus far, to actual combat.

Hard to say, seeing as I like a lot of them like Bioshock, Left 4 Dead 2, Metroid Prime, and Modern Warfare 2.

I'm sure that I'll be able to adapt. I just saw some videos of the game and I was blown away. I'll definitely have to look into it. Thanks!

Well if your looking to get into ARMA II, I strongly recommended you get ARMA II Combined Operations, which will give you ARMA II and ARMA II Opertaion Arrowhead (otherwise known as "OA", which is a standalone expansion which has the majority of players in it now, although combined ops will give you all the severs from both games), which will maximize your ability to find a good game. There is still a decent community, when you compare it to other highly realistic/simulation games such as the OFP series, but if you do decide to get the game, installing different mods for different servers (such as the ACE mod) will differentiate the experience you get out of it. You'll find yourself returning to the same servers, with the same group of die-hard ARMA guys and gals who make up the community. So to answer your question, the community is not very large compared to the other popular shooters of today, but they are consistent, skilled, (many of them are active-duty service men and woman, which is very cool when you come under heavy fire, since they know how to talk on the CAS mission from the AH-64 which has come to your rescue, with deadly precision) and make for a great online experience.

tfc. played it competitively for 7 years in multiple top tier leagues (IGL, TFL 1a, STA titanium/platinum/gold, TTT). for anyone that was a part of the community: I played for {GTO} (was invited to play with them at CPL) [INC] [bM] [D.v.S.] and team | LoLz!! as scaringthekids. also lead a top 3 5vs5 team known as the ill [x_o].

only game that comes even close to that imho is quake 3

It's definitly the best shooter since RE4 in my opinion, but it can't really compare. RE4 is a masterpiece.

I don't really consider RE4 a shooter, though I guess it is. RE4 is a masterpiece, no doubt, I loved that game.

We ARMA players have always questioned the amount of AI you can get into a single game without melting down your system, but if that guy achieved 1500+ AI, I'd be pretty impressed (I wouldn't hold my breath on that figure though, due to that fact that you can't see any of the players really, and that sounded like a firefight with maybe about 400 to 500 participants, not 1500+).

It is indeed. You better have a monster of a rig to get something like that too look even remotely smooth though. I've attempted a similar battle on the PC in my sig and my framerate dropped to ~5 FPS right after starting it , and my CPU/GPU temps skyrocketed to 62C and 72C respectively before it was all said and done

TPS is a two way tie between Resident Evil 4 and Uncharted 2. I love RE4 so much that I keep my Gamecube hooked up just to occasionally play it but damn it, I love Uncharted 2. FPS is probably Doom 2... probably not technically best imo but it's that one game I always play when I want to kill a few minutes.
