I just think it'd be interesting to see the favourite system of each System Wars member.

My favourite system is the PS3. I started this generation being a Wii only owner but I always planned on buying a PS3 since I owned a PS1 and a PS2, I just wanted the console to get cheaper. The PS3 appeals to me in many ways. First of all, it's pretty good as a multimedia device. The blu-ray player is very useful since I do like to watch movies. I don't use the features but being able to put music and videos onto the harddrive is also useful. Being a PS1 and PS1 owner, I prefer the controller. I'm used to the positions of the analogue sticks, I love the D-Pad and I prefer the triggers. They feel weird but on my PS2 controller, the triggers used to get stuck a lot and that doesn't happen on the new controller.

The PS3 exclusives also appeal to me more than the exclusives of other systems. Series like Uncharted, GoW, Killzone and LBP are unmissable imo and I'm also a big GT fan. From what I've seen, XBL is better than PSN but being a student, money is important so PSN also appeals to me more than XBL. The Wii has served me well but due to it lacking some of the multiplats that the other systems have, it stops it from being my favourite system. I'm not much of a PC gamer but if I did have a powerful PC, I think it would definitely give my PS3 a run for it's money in being my favourite system.

Anyway, enough about me, SW, what is your favourite system this generation and why?

I do like my DS a lot and it has some series that I love (Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton) but for some reason I just can't find that many games that I enjoy.

Of the consoles, I cannot deny that objectively speaking, the PS3 has the best library. It basically has just the right mix of great exclusives and multiplats, and it's got some neat downloadable games too. However, I seem to prefer the Wii more than the PS3, mostly because of my affinity to Nintendo and old school games, both of which are now found only on the Wii. My favourite system this generation, however, is the DS, which is full to the brim with great games, spanning all genres. No other system this gen has got as much playtime from me as the DS, and this can partly be attributed to its strong RPG lineup. I seem to like all gaming systems, and almost equally- but my preferences push the DS several rungs above the others.

It's the same for me with the PS3. I love my DS, Wii and PS3 but I guess thanks to the history I have with Sony consoles, I just slightly prefer my PS3.

That's actually how it is for me, only I have a history with Nintendo systems. I would love the Wii ore, but it lacks power- for now. E3 this year showed me a glimpse of what could be in store for the Wii, and if it makes good on that promise, I have no doubts it shall be indisputably my favourite system this gen.
For now, however, the DS is the best. For me, of course :P
Incidentally, did you ever play the PS3 version of NMH...?

PC. i prefer the games and controls. it has crackin exclusives and the better version of multiplats. i also love what most seem to hate about it. i love the options to upgrade. i love the choice in hardware and software. i also love that i can configure it to work the way i like it to work. its the best platform for gaming on the planet imho. the only thing i dont like is really stupid DRM like ubis system. most DRM is fine and pretty transparent most of the time. but daft systems like that are just nuts.

I've always been interested in the game but I haven't played it.

Was it released in the US/UK? What about you, have you played the game?

Mine would be the wii:

- Its a reliable system, its never failed on me unless I did it myself. In that one situation, Nintendo covered the entire cost and had it back to me very quickly.

- Motion controls, what else needs saying?

- Doesn't force you to have motion controls, almost all games allow you to customize the controls.

- Nintendo has a long heritage of quality First party titles.

- Full Backwards compatability, it can play every GCN game without any issue.

- Some would disagree, but I feel it has the best online downloading service, the console itself is completely wireless. Overall, the downloadable games Nintendo offers are simply better, especially since classics from pats systems are available.

- I've always felt that the Wii has a more enjoyable local multiplayer.

It wasn't released in the west, but the Japanese version was all English, so it is very import friendly. I haven't played it myself, I'm thinking of buying it, and I was hoping you'd have played it, and would be able to tell me how it is.

No problems :P However, keep in mind that the PS3 version is censored completely. Also, from the little net research I did, it appears the HD ports were very mediocre conversions. However, I would look into it. Hell, I AM looking into it :P

The Nervous System, as I do not know what I would do without it. Literally, I think I would die otherwise

Less seriously uhm...I guess I have played the 360 most this generation, so that might be my favourite? The PS3 is definitely my mistress though, with the Wii as my backup and PC as my safety

I love my PS3. Though my PC gets a lot of love too.

But mainly my PS3. =)

I actually had a period where I was doubting my $600 investment.

After Uncharted 2 I question no more. =D

That's a really tough question.

As I just came into PC gaming it's literally neck and neck between PS3 and PC

I Would give it to PS3 for the only reason due to a few more friends(IRL) play with me on PSN.

And due to games like U2, Demons Souls, 3D Dot Hero's and so on. But PC is just a hair behind. So it's really hard to chjoose.

PC. Any type of control you want (K/M, Controller, Joystick, etc), huge back catalog of games, and tons of features you can't do on consoles (proper internet browsers, office programs, Photoshop, etc.)

That's one of the things that makes PC gaming appeal to me. No games coming out that interest me? There are 100s of great older games that may interest me.

I have 3 consoles that I play very evenly. My PS3, DS and Wii. Honestly it is a really hard choice between all 3 of them. My history with Nintendo games kind of nudges out the PS3, as my history with Sony I would say, is Jak, Sly and Ratchet. Out of those, Sony has only given me Ratchet, and ToD, has made it hard for me to get back into the series. The DS has Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, Pokemon and other games I love. The problem with that is, outside of Pokemon, I am not a big RPG fan, which makes it hard to choose games outside of that genre. The Wii is one of the only consoles I have had where almost every exclusive makes me want to buy it. 3rd party and 1st. So I guess I'll go with Wii.

PS3 is the only right answer, the 360 has been failing hard all gen long, it lives off multiplats and nickles and dimes you way too much. The Wii really doesn't even compete, it's like a side dish, the PS3 is the real deal.

even though I love all my systems I'd have to say my 360 is my favorite, I just love the whole interface of the menus, the online system, and it has some of my favorite games this gen, plus I buy most multiplats for it as well. I still love my PS3 though it probably has my favorite first party gams out there.

PS3, I love the free online, the fact that damn near all my friends own one too, the exclusives really appeal to me and I get to play blu-rays.

The PS3 because I like the controller and its exclusives appeal to me moreso than the other systems. Don't really use Blu-ray too often, but the online multiplayer being free is a plus.

I would have to go with my PC in terms of the choices that are available for this system, with my Nintendo DS a close second for keeping me occupied on those long road trip.

System? PC. The amount I've spent on PC games in the last year is roughly the same that I spent on console games, yet I've gotten about twice as many PC games. That alone gets the nod, but its also given me more choices than my other systems as well. I can play nearly any multiplat out there on my PC, and its usually better to some degree with a few exceptions, and always cheaper. Then there's the PC-only games (or games like Team Fortress 2 that may as well be considered PC only) and in the end, its the system in my collection with the largest library to choose from and the cheapest games. It cost the most, in the initial investment, but comparitively I've spent about the same amount on 2 consoles, but gotten more return on my investment with the PC.

Gotta give it up to my PC.

None of the consoles compete with the sheer amount of games the PC gets (many of which are exclusives which are a dying breed on the PS3/360).

I love mod communities too. I especially love to see console gamers criticize a game for it's short length while I have enjoyed many hours with mods for those games.

And, to keep me from drooling on myself I'll just keep the rest of the reasons short.

  • Cheaper games
  • Keyboard/mouse
  • Free online
  • Steam
  • Online communities that last
  • No heavy influence from advertising (I love chatting with PC gamers about even the most obscure games, and I love to see communities sprout up for these games. The console gamers I know tend to care only about the most hyped upcoming games which puts a big frown on my face)
  • More bang for my buck - No denying it. PC actually does everything. I didn't pay $600 for only sub-hd graphics, and a blu-ray player.
  • Graphics
  • Developer support
