3.Gears of War 4 (Severely underrated)
4.Gears of War
5.Gears 5
6.Gears of War Judgement
Yet to play Gears Tactics, but no a fan of strategy games.

More or Less pretty much same experience :)
@magnum3000: Yeah, pretty much. Even though Judgment is at the bottom I still enjoyed it. There were some pretty cool aspects about it that I liked. Haven’t played Tactics yet either.
Made post. GS ate it. 3>2>1, but I go back and forth. The rest of the franchise is in that whatever zone.
1>3>2>Judgement
I think I played 4 on gamepass for a bit, but it was so forgettable, I don't remember anything about it.
For campaign wise: (in this order)
Judgment isn't that bad, I liked the story, even though it screws with continuity, but it was fun. MP was ehhhhh, Overrun was fantastic. Gears of War/UE, the atmosphere was great. The world truly felt like there was nothing but despair and it was very obvious the humans were losing from the start. The gibbing in this was also the best with its crazy ragdoll physics. Wish UE still had a lot of people playing, even a month before Gears of War 4 came out it was essentially dead, which is a shame.
Gears of War 3, is totally awesome game and well worth the $60 plus the season pass. The story was great and fun, multiplayer was fantastic, it actually got me playing horde mode. Beast mode was fun, let's also not forget 4 player co-op and arcade mode. I may be biased, but I see no major flaws with Gears of War 3.
3 is my favorite overall. Solid campaign, nice evolution of horde, favorite iteration of versus
2 has my favorite campaign, Horde was a nice addition. Played very little versus.
4 was hooked on horde for awhile, versus was good, lootboxes were shit. Campaign was totally forgettable.
5 don't like how they changed versus and souped up rifles. Barely any content compared to 3 and 4 and don't like the new modes. Even grindier then 4.
1 is hard to go back to now. Never played versus. Ultimate edition was a nice update, didn't play it much asides from beating the campaign once.
Think the series is on its last leg sadly.
Only played the original Gears and it was trash. hold space to run, take cover, shoot, health get regenerated, repeat the process again.
no desire to play other games in series.
i have fond memories of gears 1. one of those you had to be there at the time games. i'm not a big muscular macho man protag fan, unlike certain forumites *cough ^^ , but i have to tip my cap to epic. their framing of that group of fearless, steroid riddled bros pitted as the world's only hope against the locust and that bleak, miserable and horror fused backdrop was really well done. very atmospheric and lots of fun, with simple but effective run, snap to and switch from cover mechanics. i enjoyed it.
i think i'd go
1, 3, 2
----------> judgement
----------------------------------------> 4
haven't played 5 because 4 was so very, very, very bad
idk, they are all the same tier to me. peak bare minimum good for their multiplayer, more than likely aight overall for their multiplayer. The campaigns while having more enemy variety than most shooters of their era/ilk over time, the fact that wall bouncing n cancels barely matter for campaign purposes means you're left with a whole lot of stop n pop cover shooting, and that isn't all that engaging for more than lizard brain satisfaction.
It's hella unsatisfying especially when Vanquish exists and gives you the tools to play far more aggressively. Useless putzes who won't be named obviously dismiss it as a cover shooter, but if you played Vanquish as a cover shooter it's because you're actively bad at the game. A better player had far more room to get in on the action, and the games punishment for poor play is: play the game you end up playing when you're playing gears of war, spec ops, uncharted, max payne 3, and army of two.
Fucking brilliant.
Meanwhile Gears 5 is like, you have a boat now.
Played the first 3 for the first time a month ago. Really enjoyed them. The first is dated which is not all bad, simple design makes it the most visceral and relentless of the series (and ultimate edition looks good). Second has a really good journey but it's clumsy in its execution. Third is super solid, with some memorable moments.
That kinda changed my perception of the series. I think 4 and 5 are good but now having played the first three I can see how the series needs to push things further. Still think 5 is pretty good.
I would say 3,2,5,1,4. Unsure about 2 and 5.
Will play judgement eventually.
Played the first until the bitter end, I didn't enjoy it at all and never went back.
Hope MS let the Coalition make something new for its next game as Gears has been milked enough this gen.
Played 1 hardcore like those kids on g-fuel. Got Gears 2 and lost interest because after all this time, they haven't fixed bullet delay/lag in the multiplayer. I don't even remember if i played the 3rd one, and skipped 4 and 5 for sure. To me, Gears 1 was the only relevant Gears. Everything else could've been deleted and i wouldn't have cared.
Its time to reboot the series or Gears becomes like those tired ass series a fraction of people still play or care about. God of War was the perfect example of this. After GoW3, you could clearly tell the series was done. They rebooted it, and now its one of the best and most memorable games of this gen. If i was MS, i'd reboot the series into a first person ultra violent (Doom style) kind of a shooter. Enought with this cover shooter horseshit. We're not in 2006 anymore.
Played and enjoyed the first one.
Played a little bit of Gears 2 and thought it sucked.
Played Gears 5 and thought it sucked.
If you enjoy first one and disliked others.
I imagine who bad other games are.
beside they all are same so how come you enjoy original while hating others.
Gears 1 has a special place for just being its' own thing at the time, Gears 2 and 3 were good iterations and improvements over the core foundation, 4 was passable didn't really leave an impression, Judgement I never played, and 5 was surprisingly enjoyable.

Because then I wasn't bored of it. Same with Far Cry. Same with Assassin's Creed. Same with all other series that refuse to do something new.
I really liked the atmosphere and RE4 vibes of the first one. The multiplayer was at its peak and has my all time favorite maps, war machine, gridlock, mansion and clock tower. It was ace.
1>3>>>>2.
Judgement, 4 and 5 don’t exist to me because they’re so bad.
