My least favourite is the Gamecube controller. I loved the Gamecube, I just hated the controller. The L and R shoulder buttons were terrible, in my view. What's your least fav, SW?

Atari 2600 joystick. The great inducer of carpal tunnel syndrome.
Speaking of "why is this hurting my hands so much?"
The joycons are absolute hell to hold for extended periods, or doing any kind of special actions that would feel normal on any other controller
@R4gn4r0k: Didn’t really find them all that bad to be honest. Would have been nice if they were a little bigger at least.
ALL OF THEM.
Seriously, they're cumbersome and most are too small for my hands.
Mouse and keyboard for life!
I don't like the ones that are one big joystick and one button, because that usually means Up is jump, and that really sucks. Also usually the joystick is for the right hand and button for the left hand which seems backwards to me. The Quickshot II for C64 has two buttons but both are on the stick and I would rather have movement for one hand and buttons for the other hand.
I don't like the Jaguar gamepad very much, but it is better than the NES Max and Intellivision and Colecovision which are not very good.
A lot of old PC analog joysticks are terrible and require constant fiddling to not drift and break easily. A lot of old PC gamepads suck too. No wonder herms have a fear of gamepads.
I don't like the mouse too much for gaming either.
@warm_gun: The Dreamcast d-pad feels kinda sharp on the thumb. I don't remember having problems with the stick, I'll have to check again.
Probably all the PlayStation controllers I don’t like how the buttons or analog sticks are laid out also it doesn’t have a nice grip like the Xbox controller
@Pedro: The worst. Playing Metroid Dread on it recently and I swear I've developed 90 year old carpal tunnel
N64, Wiimote and then Joycon, and after that but very very far the Wii U controller, i have to give Nintendo points for trying different things, even if i ended up hating them.
Trying things just for the hell of it is more of a con than a pro.

Yep! It is pretty terrible. When I did play on the Switch I avoided the joycons, so much that I forgot it was a thing.
The wii remote. It sux.
Also, the PS1 controller was uncomfortable. The Sega Saturn, the competitor, had a much better, and infinitely cooler looking controller.
The original Saturn pad sucked imo
The original PS1 pad was superior
The Saturn Model 2 pad is argueably the greatest pad of all time though

Why though? Don't you feel our controllers have stagnated and have been pretty much the same for three gens in a row now?
Hear me out: trying out new controllers, getting accustomed to the analogue stick, getting the first feel of Gamecube's triggers was part of the fun.
Now you pick up a controller and can immediately start playing. Handy? sure. But yeah I really feel that new and gimmicky controllers was part of the fun for us growing up.
PlayStation, all of them. Very uncomfortable.
GameCube controller is my alltime favourite, lol.
What color?
Black. 😎
Always prefered black for my consoles and controllers..
True I have my PC and peripherals in all black and it's a great look.
I have a silver grey gamecube and I even got an aftermarket wavebird type controller that's in silver grey, love it!

Hear Hear! The traditional controller is a frickin dinosaur.
Perhaps, rather than Nintendos approach which can be a bit wakkadoodle (though that can be cool too), Console manufacturers take a more pragmatic approach to solving limits on the normal controller. "Hardcore" gamers clearly just don't have it in them to try something very different.
e.g. Problem: There are not enough buttons on the controller for modern F1 games (at least as of 2020). Switching views used to be a button. Now it's an option in the pause menu. Solution: FLAPPY PADDLE BUTTONS (why are these not standard?). And not just for remapping the face buttons. Actual extra buttons at your finger tips.
Problem: Having a FPS with many guns is problematic with traditional controllers. The games usually have to fallback like a selection circle thingy (which is awful) or just limit the player to 2 guns. Or they use the bumpers which is pretty ass. Solution: A scroll wheel. Or possible should buttons that are also trackpads (Think the Steam decks touch pads in functionality...but on a bumper).
Problem: Many games have a system where 1 trigger is for aiming and the other shoots (think Horizon or Recent Tomb raider). That takes up 2 triggers. Means you have to select weapons more frequently (which is also poor on modern controllers if you have many weapons). Solution: Dual stage triggers. Pull in partially to aim and full press to fire. I used it with a Steam controller in the long dark: Works great. .....Why are Dual Stage triggers not standard? The fricking GC controller had them.......oh.... ☹️. j/k
At this stage the Gyro should also be standard....get with the program MS. It's ridiculous.
Anywho...on topic. Of the controllers I have used:
The Nes controller was pretty terrible. A big deal functionally for the time...but still terrible. Not a controller I would want to use today, even if I was playing Nes games.
N64 was also pretty badly thought out. Interesting functionality but badly implemented. I remember when the first Dualshock came out for the PS1...everyone was like "oh yeah....well that makes a lot more sense".
PS3 controller. Just ugh. The triggers especially....just no. Wrong. All wrong. Honest to god, Knock off pS3 controllers were better than the genuine article.
The PSP controller setup. Having only 1 Stick was a cut too far. Devs clearly wanted to make PS2 style games but they ended up cramming unsuitable controls just to have the games on the System. The claw approach in MH games for example....naff.
The 3DS control setup to. It wasn't as bad as the PSP but trying to use the touch screen and other controls was still a lesson in pain. Worth it for Kid icarus though (got that needs a remake....and a sequel).
@R4gn4r0k: I am from Europe and ever saw only a black Saturn controller. Where is your controller from? Japan, would be my guess.
Yeah it must be japan exclusive, I've never seen it anywhere either. but people instantly recognise it and say "oh yeah Saturn controller scheme"
N64 controller was terrible.
No it wasn't. The problem was the dumb users that somehow got confused when looking at it. You have one hand on either the dpad or thumbstick for movement controls, and one hand on the buttons. How is that so hard to figure out?
@metallicmonk: I never used an original Saturn gamepad, it looks bad, with the weird shape and a terrible looking D-pad.
The Wiimote and joycons are probably the worst, I hesitate to call them controllers. The N64's lack of a 2nd analog stick and the fact that half of the "claw" was never used made it pretty ineffective as well. The funny thing is the best controller Nintendo ever made was the Pro controller, which basically just mimics and Xbox controller.
