I think motion controllers a la wiimote/move are the best way to interface to a videogame when it's properly made for that kind of controller. I can think of metroid games that play great with the combo wiimote + nunchuck. the great thing is that you can use the controller both vertically and horizontally according to what you have to do in the game, so you can swtich to a classic controller to a motion one at any given time. a hybird thing.

In games where you need to aim, I see motion controllers to be the best solution for them, and it feels like you're actually holding a gun or something, contrarily to having to move the analog stick to aim.

it should be interesting to see what Sony will do with their Move and how it'll be implemented in the games.

thoughts?

They're a fun way to toy around with and immerse yourself in, but not something I'd do for gaming every day.

motion controls are fine for games that make use of it, Trauma Center is a good example, Mario Galaxy is just a typical platformer for the most part but the star cursor you use to get stars and shoot them is about the only use of motion consoles I can think of that can't be done on a regular remote input, then again you could make the same game without that and it really wouldn't change much, many of the Wii games were just GameCube games anways and worked fine with old controls, like SSBB, Strikers Charged, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Resident Evil 4, Okami (actually on PS2)... it wasn't like motion controls were bad, though some games didn't offer GameCube controller support, and I thought they should have, and I like SSBB and Mario Kart because you can use GC controller, though can't for Mario Tennis or Strikers Charge anyhow, motion controls should enhance a game, sometimes I got frustrated in Twilight Princess because the some movies the controller wouldn't recognize when I executed them and probably would have been no problem with a typical controller, and also the GC controls of Twilight Princess I hear allow for camera control, something the Wii motion control version doesn't

I got nothing against them, they work great with some games, but others ones not as much.

I think motion controls have potential but I feel most devs are too bust trying to make a quick buck out of them rather than actual realize that potential. Dance Central is the only game I've seen lately that looks like it uses motion controls in a smart way and actually creates a fun game out of it. It's not some lame mini game collection or something that had motion controls thrown in, this is something that lives on motion controls and does something that can never be done with a controller and does it well. I don't want everyone to try to make a dance game but I want devs to be like Harmonix and try to make a good game that can't be done with a controller if you're gonna use motion controls.

I loved the way you make use of the the wiimote on Metroid Other M, they just need to be well implemented in the scheme of a game. a classic controller does some things poorly, like aiming, while the wiimote can be used for different purposes.

I like some motion sensor games, but there is still room for improvement. Kinect doesn't use any controllers, at least not yet.

Agree.

Also agree. Personally, I think that developers aren't designing game with motion controls in mind but rather developing games than tacking on motion controls hastily. I like what Nintendo did with Other M but it's one of the few games that successfully made use of motion controls. There is so much that could be done with the hardware if devs were just willing to dig deeper and thing outside the box.

I think they are great but currently they aren't great for all genres but they are great for most of the genres I tried them with. I can't wait to try Portal 2 with the Razer Hydra.

If implemented well, they are fantastic. Sadly, they rarely are. I am waiting to see if anything ever gets done with MLB the Show. I know '11 will have Move capability, but only in the HR derby. If and when they set it up for rtts, and it's done well, then I may just have to purchase. Also, I would like to see, eventually, a Harry Potter Universe RPG. Think it would be brilliant as a wand. I thought it would be great with a Star Wars title, but have come to realise that just waving your lightsaber around to try and deflect weapon fire would get old quick.

It has a chance to stick around. If there is no support of it, or poorly implemented, then it will die a quick death.

I love motion controls. Implementation makes a big differance to how good the experience is, Metroid Prime was the best SP FPS experience I;ve had since the first time I played Doom.

I'm certain that in time they will become the most common form of consol control. Dual analogue fanboys are like Magnetic Tape lovers c1993. The future of gaming controls is here and its not going away.

The Fight, MAG, and Tumble are some of the most addictive games I've played this gen. So yeah, I'm loving motion controls so far.

i havent tried move yet (they dont do demo stands where i live) but id like to. waiting on games to really get me excited on that though. id also like to try kinect but where i live at the mo makes it really really impractical. so my motion controller experience stops at wiimotion +. overall good start....lots of room for improvement though both in terms of tech and dev implementation. its essentailly the nes pad of motion controllers.

I don't really mind the motion controls. I just would like to actually see good games be released and not the shovelware we normally get. Playing a party game from time to time is fun and all...but I'd like something more...of a game.
