They may be viewing Resident Evil 4 in terms of the rest of the series.  Lost planet was an original game without an established following.

well ,consider re4 came out late in gc life cycle with around 20 mil. user base plus there're no game on gc worth owning for 6 months before that it should do a lot better.

On the other hand, 360 only has 10 mil. user base and a lot of good games coming out at the time, selling 1 mil. isn't bad at all

Looking at the time frame is the key here.

Different budgets, differen sales goals. You can't compare the amout of money Capcom spend in RE4 to what they spend in Dead Rising.

Plus RE was already a deep installed franchise and was supposed to do much better than that.

I am not sure what Capcom expected. Resident Evil 4, although a good game, is very different from the rest of the series. Capcom abandoned the story after CV and made Resident Evil 4. I didn't buy it at launch (even though I had a Gamecube) because it did not follow the story of other Resident Evil games and it didn't have any zombies. I finally ended up buying it when it came out for the PS2. I gave it a chance and liked it but you can't say that about every other Resident Evil fan before RE4. Some were disapointed by it.....some don't even like it.

What I don't understand is why did Capcom have to change the enemies etc. We could still have the same control with zombies and the story could have continued from CV.

Well, you could argue that the ZOMBIEZ horse was pretty much beaten half-to-death, and learning that it didn't revolve around the same old T-Virus crap is exactly what made me want to pick it up, it was a Resident Evil I hadn't beaten already!

This thread is made of fail and ruin.  PS2 version was announced before the GameCube version launched.

Lost Planet=8.1
Resident Evil 4=9.6

RE 5 GOTY like everywhere but the AIAS(because Capcom doesnt want to be a part of the academy, if they were god of war wouldnt have won. GOd of war lost to RE 4 everywhere else. what makes people think it would have won there)

GOTY should sell 1 million no problem. The fact the game should have sold to 1 million owners alone. RE 4 has higher expectations of sales based on quality, and the series name. RE 4s sales on GC should have been a lot better.

I think this side story was needed to progress the series. im pretty sure the las plagus(sp?) will come into play with umbrella sometime in this series. maybe even RE 5.
