When are the new cpu's (45nm 1600MHz) going to come down in price?

Just recently purchased a Asus Extreme II, yeah! :D. Obviously u guyz know its bus supports 1600 MHz, and its memory up to 2000 MHz, With PCIe 2.0 on the two PCI x16!:D What!! sry got excited, as it is still being shipped :roll: But I need new processor that supports 1600MHz! Just so friggen expensive :cry: Does anyone know when they should drop, after christmas seems ideal.

If you're willing to spend that kind of money on a motherboard, I don't know why the prices for CPU's bother you that much.

IMO, kind of a silly time to build a top-end rig with Nehalem on the horizon (specifically, the Core i7's).
Surely the Yorkfields (or rather, the QX9770) will be somewhat cheaper by then.

Re-read the thread. Seems you were waiting for those new processors I mentioned.
Anyway, a drop in price seems unlikely. They sure are a hell of a lot cheaper than the Yorkfield's (999>1500).

I don't understand why you would buy a motherboard if you didnt have anything to use it with, by the time the CPU is cheaper, that motherboard will be cheaper too.
