I assume in the PS1/N64 generation, due to the PS having more serious games.

Because many, many of its games are targeted towards kids.  Also, the Wii is targeted towards children, families and non-gamers for the most part.

I believe this all began during the Gamecube generation(or atleast it's when it became popular anyway ). I use to hear people calling it the " Kiddycube"--it was basically a term used by millieum gamers, or those that thought blood was essential for a game to be enjoyed and mature. The Playstation 2 era is responsible.

It got that title during the N64 era, when Sony toted their Playstation as the "serious" console. I mean, they had ammunition.

Wrong, it happend when they refused to have blood in MK 2, after having skipped over part 1 because it was too violent, and talking bad about sega because of it.

Even though they let blood be included in the sequel to MK.

Though the MKII was a big deal, I don't think it started there, I had no idea when I played the game.

I think it started when it was PS vs N64

It started with the Genesis.  Their commercials were basically calling Nintendo a company for kids.  Don't you remember, Sega does what Nintendon't.

I think it was the way sega portrayed sonic. sonic had that cool "I-don't-stop-for-anyone" kind of attitude that appealed to teenagers. Then they saw mario as "they thing I played when I was a kid".

Nintendo has been around a while, and everytime a company goes up against them, they go for the New Kids on the Block approach and basically say Hey, we are cool, these guys though, they are old, and stupid. Sega started it with "Sega does what Nintendon't" Sony just made it worse.

When the bulk of their games is in a kiddy format.  Or, more recently, when the game is widely purchased for its ease of controls.

Even though people always knew it had more childish games, it really didn't get the title until the GCN came out.  That's when I started hearing people say things like GC is for children under 10.  It's mostly because it was purple and Nintendo was cutting swear words and blood out of its early titles.  Oh, and also because of the style Zelda: Wind Waker had in comparison to the N64 Zeldas.

Ease of controls = kiddy? No.

And the reason Nintendo is considered 'kiddy' is because there aren't a ton of M rated games, especially 1st party. I like it better that way.Â
