When do you think the next gen will start?

I think this generation will last well into 2012 before new consoles are announced. The ONLINE componenet adds a lot more longetitivty to these systems that previous generations did not have. Plus Nintendo is still making a killing, 360 is still making profit, and Sony has a huge debt to pay off.

I don't see any of the developers wanting to see new hardware anytime soon.

I have the feeling we will see a console anouncement within the next two year and the consoles coming out 3 to 4 years .

Would I be incorrect in thinking that 360 is really hitting a wall on Improving graphically comapred to PS3, and that well see a new XBOX rather sooner than later? I mean, Alan wake and Reach and pretty looking games, but there not that drastically better looking than 360 games that even came out in 2008. While weve seen PS3 having a very nice graphical incline. I really think 360 is going to hit a wall very soon graphically and it might force MS hand on releasing a new console sooner then they might want.

"Inferior" could be a little too literal. the 360 tech certainly does some stuff better than the PS3 tech, particulary the use of RAM, but ive just noticed that the games really arent advancing THAT great over the older stuff. and if you compare them to what PS3 is dishing out, which you should because thir competitors, they really start too look not quit as good.

The sooner the better....so PC gaming can actually advance.....my 3 year old video card still maxes just about everything at 1680x1050 res, and the card was not even the highest end back then.

It all depends on how well NATAL and MOVE do. If they do well, then it'll be pushed out, if not then expect it much sooner.

Actually, 2012 would be a hella long generation. Console generations only really last 5 or so years because by that time the tech in the console really starts to become dated.

Honestly I thought the Xbox 720 was going to come out last year so I don't know but hopefully this year.

i already said this, but I really think that with 360 hitting a graphical wall like they are now that they may have no choice but to release a new console sometime soon. I would love for the 360 to keep truckin as long as it can, but it gets to the point where the games stop looking that great over stuff that came out like a year before and then I wish I had better looking games.

If generations ended because systems hit graphical ceilings then the PS3 would have come out way earlier last gen as the Xbox came in and stomped the PS2 graphically.

Nintendo stated that they'll be releasing a new console when they feel they can do no more on the Wii. I'm sure it'll be the exact same for MS and Sony. If MS and Sony can't impliment important features in their current system/games then they'll release a new one. Until then I don't think so. They don't just abandon high selling systems just because the games no longer look good.
