I mean my PS3 with HDMI is like so simple...one digital plug. X360 component on the other hand is so ancient, 3 plugs with metal casings. I just feel like graphics are more washed out on X360 being non-digital and all. Its probably just in my head though.

Or maybe cause I use DVI for my monitor an got rid of VGA cables. Digital vs Analog. And it looks so much better on PC and so I am relating it to component vs HDMI.

Fact is digital signals are the future though.

And? Anyone who can afford PS3 will get HD cables. HDMI and Bluray is a huge selling point for PS3 an High Def in general.

I actually have my PS3 hooked up via analog, to a DLP TV. (HDMI does weird stuff - I've got a tech coming to look at the set.) I can't really see a big difference. I might leave it this way, as I can use my receiver as a switch.

I have my ps3 hooked up with components, just like my 360. I tested Res, RR7, NBA 2k7, and 2 Blu-Rays "The Great Raid" , and "Monster House" switching back and forth with component and my $115 HDMI Monster cable and noticed absolutely no difference at all. The difference between component and HDMI is ALOT more pronounced when it comes to Cable box  HD connection, then when used to display games.

Component, VGA, HDMI...if you are being honest with yourself and are not playing on a huge (60 inches or bigger) screen, there is not much difference between the three.
In fact, most people claim that colors, saturation, and clarity are better with component cables. I don't see it, but its out there.
Each person will see things their own way, but fact is, HDMIs advantage is it supports DRM, but so does VGA.

Three cables with metal casings?  Component cables have five.  Sounds to me like you're comparing composite cables to HDMI, in which case, of course HDMI's going to look better.  I hooked my 360 up with composite cables the other day just for s**ts and giggles, and it looks about as good as the origional Xbox does.  Yes, the lighting effects/shaders are still noticable, but the detail goes straight to you-know-where.

I think you mean HDCP. (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
If so, VGA doesn't support HDCP.
DVI on the other hand does support it.

Maybe he's just talking about component-video, which consists of only 3 cables.

I doubt that, since he mentions specifically that the HDMI cable is one plug, while the component is 3. He whines about having to plug 3 cables in... shouldn't he be complaining about having to plug in 5, since he wants to be oh so dramatic? It's such a chore to plug these cables in :? SW is a laugh a minute.
