You can quote me on this. The Big 3 will all be using a control scheme like the Wii's in their next gen systems. The Wii has made too much money for Sony and Microsoft to ignore this. Watch for them to jump on the bandwagon.GoldenElementXL
Ah - so, we have to "wait 'til,..."
i hope never, i mean its fun and everything but didnt find it comfortable using it... might also be i'm used to other controller designs..
If the big 3 decide to make their controllers like the wiimote, it will be a sad day for gaming... It will also be the day I stop buying consoles.
I'm good with the normal controller, thank you very much.
MS and Sony are just going to try and make a gimmicky controller like the Wii just to ramp up their sales... they just won't magically turn away from the people who have been supporting them from day one.IAmLegend7
That's what they said when people said their controllers would have no motion-sensing at all to begin with.

i hope that won't happen. i really enjoy playing with a standard controller even though playing with the wiimote can be fun as well.
Guess what TC: we are not fortunetellers. Do you want us to just call out a random date or something? Or are you just throwing flamebait out there? i'm leaning towards the latter...
And also, your sig is not nearly as clever or funny as you think.
probably next-gen, when the technology has become even more advanced. the success of the wii has proven that motion controls do work and do sell, seeing as how nintendo is pretty much guaranteed to follow up the wiimote with even more advanced motion control it would be silly for ms or sony to ignore this.
It wont happen this gen though, peripheral controlers never sell enough to become standard. the only peripheral having any chance of actually being a viable alternative would be the balance board.
The day all consoles use Wiimote style controlers is the day I stop buying consoles. I got sick of the motion controls after 6 months. I dont want a workout when i sit down to play a game everytime.Just_Osmo
moving the mouse around must be a work out too then huh?
realize that not all games require the same amount of shaking. SMG required a shake for doing it's spin attack but i don't think anyone would say they got a workout from it.
Hopefully never.
I'm quite content with the controller, thank you.
If Microsoft and Sony rip-off the Wiimote and ditch the controller design, I will retire console gaming entirely.
Never again will i buy a console based on motion sensing. I have The wii and it barley even uses the wiimote properly. How can it be the standard when some of the biggest games that came out for it barley uses the motion at all? And the fact that the games also have an option for a gamcube controller? I mean really what is the standard here a gamcube controller or a wiimote? I will never support sony or microsoft on anything fi they ever ditch the controller and go wiimote style. Leave that crap for nintendo. Brickz187Did you even read the OP? He said for FPS' only.
As far as FPSs go it is
K&M > Controller > Wiimote
CajunShooter
You clearly never played MP3 or Medal of Honor Heroes 2, because their controls are much much better than any console FPS.

Feel exact the same, if they all come with a Wii-mote let it atleast just be a option to use "normal" controllers.

They won't get it right. They'll just assume that they can just make the controls without making the games around the controls.

It's short sighted to call a controller with analog sticks "normal". N64 controllers didn't come around until the late 90's.
Controllers will always evolve, there is no reason why a controller can't have motion sensing/IR and all the buttons you use on your "normal"" controller. So what's the problem?

Oh God please no. No no no no no. Motion sensing standard would be horrible.waynehead895
Motion sensing standard would be the best thing that happened to gaming since gaming went 3D. Just because the first generation screwed it up doesn't mean it's not the avenue of the future. What if people had said, "But 3D characters look so blocky!" with the PS1?
Hopefully never. Not every game benefits from either IR pointers or accelerometers and many Wii games prove this point. It is good and great for some but not for all thus, hopefully, defeating any possibility of it becoming "standard."foxhound_fox
A lot of games WOULD benefit from IR pointers, actually, even if it's for as minor a reason as a better way to manage inventory, like on the DS.

Why would motion sensing be such a great thing were it to become a standard?
Sensing of complete body movement I could see the potential in, but as a handheld device, I'm just not seeing the reward.

If haptic technology were better understood, the benefit might be more obvious, but complete body movement is sort of an overkill. In truth, there are only a couple of points on the human body that need to be referenced by a computer for near-total motion control: both hands, and the eyes (which are near-impossible to track for the purposes of direct control). There also needs to be a method of moving the on-screen character (the left analog stick). You don't really need torso tracking, and you CERTAINLY don't want leg tracking, and arm movement can be extrapolated from hand movement.
The Wii is not quite there yet. It does track both hands, but only to a very limited degree. The next generation of Wiimote should be far more accurate. It might even be that the Wii 2 will put the camera on the TV instead of in the Wiimote itself.
