yes they do count silver and the majority of xbox live is goldG-O-M-Jhow do you know the majority of Xbox live is Gold?
[QUOTE="senses_fail_06"]I have 10(yes 10) accounts that I have on my HD that were once or currently are Gold accounts. I wonder if they are counted.G-O-M-Jthey count EVERYTHING, why would you want more than 1 gold account anyway? :POh man I can't even recall most of them. I know one is my brothers before he got his box. One is my main. 3 were those free trials you get. I got a free one year from a clan mate so we could all have similar looking names when we went into rooms. Before I knew it I had to start scrolling to find which one I wanted :P.
Is most of that silver members? People go on there to grab free demos and then get the heck off. They dont pay for stuff.Tony-BaxterHow do you know they don't pay for anything? They still have access to game DLC, and are able to rent movies, and buy TV shows.
They count everything. I wonder if they count inactive/past gold members when they said 50% are gold or something like that.II-FBIsniper-IIJust like how Sony counts Playstation Underground memberships. As long as you have a memebership to their website, you don't have to own any Sony consoles to get counted.

If you're going to count people that use your online game service, shouldn't you just count the people that own the console? How is it fair for Sony to put their numbers against MS, when they count people that might not own any of their consoles?

They can still pay for XBL games, themes, movies, Games on Demand and other DLC. They just can't play online against other gamers. That's it. They are probably still counted as members though.
Sony counts everyone who registers on PSN as a subscriber, whether they play online or not. Really no difference.

What, you don't think MS counts PC XBL members, don't people with the games for windows have XBL accounts? Probably count as "gold members" too. Is that "fair"?

Is that "fair"? um but they still have an account on a working service...where as sony website members do not have to have a working account the sony website account connects to nothing on the PC, only on psp and ps3..its a false number to pad and only to pad the numbers atleast with gamertags you know they have some form of account usable on a game.
[QUOTE="G-O-M-J"][QUOTE="II-FBIsniper-II"]They count everything. I meant members who let their gold run out.
No, because the account reverts back to a silver account. It would then be counted as a silver account, not gold. I'm sure there are people who pay for gold but are relatively inactive though and I'm sure they would be included.
[QUOTE="SilverChimera"][QUOTE="Tony-Baxter"]Is most of that silver members? People go on there to grab free demos and then get the heck off. They dont pay for stuff.-DrRobotnik-i assume so. its just the number of people who have xbox live. gold/silver, anything. same how when sony counts PSN users, they fail to mention that most ps3 owners have more than 1 PSN account Sony also count the sony website and PSP too. Im pretty sure there was a figure released of gold users though, or maybe it was a percentage.
I assume they count psn users. I assume someone like me is'nt counted twice because I use the same account for my ps3 and psp. Nothing dodgy about it. They're the same thing.
Guess that goes for xbl too although one could argue for and against that considering the functionality difference between xbls and xblg.
