watch past generations
NES and MASTER SYSTEM had decent comparable to each other graphics for their time
SNES and GENESIS were comparable most of the time and decent, NEOGEO was graphic king by going further
PS1 and SATURN were decent for their time and comparable, N64 took graphics crown by going even beyond
DC and PS2 had decent graphics for its time of launch, although GC and XBOX went beyond by a not so wide margin
Now, X360 and PS3 have nice decent "with the times" graphics , only Wii has graphics WAY beyond the standard for 2007
always the standard is set by the bulk of consoles and then there's one which goes beyond and gets graphic crown, this is the first time ever than a system launches with graphics WELL BELOW THE STANDARD, never happened before
so yeah, the wii has the worst graphics of all time in the history of the console wars, nice going nintendo...
Gears360
That's your opinion. I think the graphics are fine on the Wii. As I've said before, graphics isn't the only thing that makes a game, a game. The Colecovision had better graphics then other consoles for it's time, but many of the games didn't play all that great. Games like Venture, Donkey Kong Jr & Coleco Football played like crap with Coleco's crappy cheap controllers. The Wii have a great controller that makes gaming fun. I rarely see women wanting to play my game console, but with the Wii, my wife and other female relatives and friend love trying the Wii.
i agree with almost all your points
yes, graphics is not the most important thing
yes, games can be good without great graphics etc
but do you acknowledge the main point? that never before a new console had come so below the standard of its time? hence WORST GRAPHICS OF ALL TIME
Don't get me wrong, as I do understand your point. Even at this generation, I wouldn't say the Wii's graphics were the worse of all time compares to the 360 & PS3. Systems like the Virtual Boy, Jaguar & even the Atari 2600 were pretty horrendous compared to their counterparts of that generation. Nintendo took a different approach this generation by trying to prove to gamers that the gameplay and fun is more important overall then the graphics. To be honest, I think they've proven their point on many levels. The Wii, like the PS3, doesn't really have a LOT of titles out right now, yet people are still buying up the system left & right just to play the few quality titles that do exist. These games obviously don't have the same graphical appeal as the PS3 games, but what they do have is a more family friendly gameplay element that puts you into the game. The Wii's games are more interactive and more innovative. This is what's appealing to millions of casual gamers. Hey, maybe I'm wrong, but that's just my opinion on the matter. Nintendo didn't raise their standard for graphics because they didn't think it was necessary, not that they were able to do so.
