Besides Taco bell haven't seen or heard of any form of marketing for it just saw commercial from a 3ds/vita threat and it was 8seconds long and sucked.
You are going to have to define "bomb." Supposedly, the PSP "bombed" too and look at how many of those were sold.
Well sony has seemed to tie their whole marketing campaign to the box at taco bell. We will see how it works out for them. LolBesides Taco bell haven't seen or heard of any form of marketing for it just saw commercial from a 3ds/vita threat and it was 8seconds long and sucked.

No.
$249+ , February release , and how things went for PSP the last few years will be the main culprits. It's probably better to go with a softer launch now , then pick it up when the first pricecut happens (combined with the holiday and bigger 3rd party names).
Trolling isn't fun anymore on here, there's no effort involved to make it funny or entertaining.
And Vita will be fine, people were saying the same about the 3DS (I'm guilty as well, but I was joking) give it time and it will be ok.
Well you can't deny that it's a huge factor. I actually think if they advertised they can decent launch sales like they did in Japan, but at this rate you can walk into a store Day 1 and not expect any lines.Eponiqueexactly. I tthought maybe it was just around where i live but im starting to think theres really no hype for this in the usa or europe..the only hype i see is here on gamespot from hardcore sony loyalists like shadowmoses.
yeah i haven't seen a single thing about the vita anywhere besides on gaming sites and those are news stories not ads. Sony really is messing up because many people do not even know it exists. Me and a group of friends were talking and mentioned that it was coming out in a week and they had no clue what so ever. giant ad campaigns are mighty expensive though maybe that's why their holding back or maybe they are waiting for the launch to come even closer.
Cows will certainly blame the marketing. But to be honest if you have a garbage product it is very difficult to market it.3DS is easy for Nintendo because of the 3D hype and Nintendos popular top quality first party games.
The real problem with Vita is that it simply not an attractive product,as it contains watered-down console games, which you can play on consoles which are cheaper and contain higher quality games.
Third party is also responsible as they left Sony towards Nintendo with games like Resident Evil Revelations,Monster Hunter 3 and 4,Kingdom Hearts,MGS etc are now more or less 3DS games.
No real innovation again by Sony and copying Nintendo with the touch screen wont pay off just like the PS Move didnt pay off to fight the Wii.
Cows also can blame themselves that they also prefer third party games over Sonys first party. They hype them on the internet but in real life no one buys them and you get flops like Resistance 3 and other games which struggle to sell 1-2 millions units like Littlebigplanet,Killzone,Mototstorm,Ratchet etc.
I am really looking forward to the damage control cows will present after the 2. and 3. week sales of the Vita in the west.
If anythings to be blamed for me not buying the Vita it would have be the lack of compelling interesting titles. I couldn't care less about another Uncharted game. I've played the exact same thing 3 times already. Gravity Rush seems like the only care worthy game on it at the moment.. But I'm not buying a handheld console at that price for one single game.

no one is trolling here. You probably thought the PSP GO and the Dreamcast fill be fine and ok too if we gave them a little bit of time.Look where they are now as some of the biggest failures and disasters in gaming history.Better start saving money for the 3DS.
Cows tried that with PS3 exclusives, then shut up when Flopsistance 3 bombed even though it was advertised like hell.
Lack of consumer interest doesn't = lack of marketing. But we'll see how cows react.

R3 didn't really get that much tho, compared to uncharted 3 which had about 2 months of NFL commercials, EPSN commercials and all of october with the subway beta deal. I only saw about 1 week of R3 commercials and that was at 11pm on comedy central
"When"? Why not "if"?Ravensmash
Because it has bombed in Japan already and thus the"When" is a much more likelier outcome then the"if" outcome

No it's not. It's way too early to decide on the outcome of an entire region, let alone worldwide...its doing bad cus its way to expensive and no one wants to game on hand helds anymore other then core gamers.

No it's not. Nah it'll definitely be because of how poor PSP did. I still wanna get it though, there's a lot of potential in the system, even if no one else sees it.

The PSP GO and the Dreamcast had been out on the market for a lot longer, and worldwide before being acknowledged as a failure. Ridiculous comparison to make.remember when GT5 flopped.....lets see how bad the vita does.cause i dont think many cows will stand for the vita they will let it die
My thoughts exactly. I went through the launch lineup and most of the game lineup for the rest of the year and found nothing interesting enough to make me want to get one. FFX HD and a Kingdom Hearts game will get me to buy one but thats a little ways away.If anythings to be blamed for me not buying the Vita it would have be the lack of compelling interesting titles. Lack of marketing, and a gazillion other things to go with it. Vita has shown so far that it has all the ingredients for a disaster.
It's ingredients are top quality, it's the "maker" that's crap. It has all the features and hardware to become great, Just Sony is a clueless idiot.Lack of marketing, and a gazillion other things to go with it. Vita has shown so far that it has all the ingredients for a disaster.

All they need is Crash Bandicoot for free bundled and mass marketed all over the box, it worked 3 times have no idea why Sony is being stupid now.I think that will be cows excuse but I dunno how true it is. That could be spot on too.
Even if they threw $200 million to advertise the Vita I still doubt many would buy it simply because there's so much competition in the marketplace today, and Sony doesn't have the software to sell the Vita.

LMAO! You seriously believe that Resistance 3 had competent marketing!?Cows tried that with PS3 exclusives, then shut up when Flopsistance 3 bombed even though it was advertised like hell.

Anyway, as for the OP. I think it will be blamed, and it deserves it.
Have you seen any commercials for the Vita that aren't Taco Bell? Go around and ask peole, does anyone know what a Vita is? I walked into a nearby GameCraze and asked about this, the public awareness for this thing is ROCK BOTTOM. This thing launches in what, a week? Seriously, the **** is Sony doing?
From what I can tell the Vita hardware itself is still excellent, regardless of Sony's retarded marketing team. I will still be getting one [still don't know if I'm going to be a launch buyer; college courses], but the closer and closer this thing gets, the more critical the situation looks.

Yet overall they possess the most successful gaming brand of all time. Dont listen to the idiots on SW simply try the system yourself. Its going to have a slow start because of the price but in the long run I think it will succeed.Lack of marketing, and a gazillion other things to go with it. Why do people act like TV commercials are all that matters? The average person doesnt even pay attention to TV commercials. The best forms of advertising are on the internet and if you want to see some good adds check your PS3. There advertising it first to that 60 million + fanbase that owns a PS3 then from there you bring out the casual commercials to get a wider audience. You can say its gonna flop all you want but I doubt very seriously they have a hardtime selling out of the launch systems.Anyway, as for the OP. I think it will be blamed, and it deserves it.

The launch systems will probably sell easily enough, but I don't think Sony can keep the sales going for too long after that. In all likelyhood the sales will sink like the 3DS and, like Nintendo, Sony will be forced to cut the price [or at the very least make a game/memory card bundle]. The ads on PS3 are a clever idea but I seriously doubt its enough. Again, public awareness for this thing looks.... not good.Anyway, as for the OP. I think it will be blamed, and it deserves it.

Yes it needs more marketing but in all honesty its not smart to do all your marketing at launch. Those units are going to sell anyways its two and three monthes later when you want to do the big marketing push. Hell look at the Sega Dreamcast it had a extremly successful launch and great hype and after the launch it went down the toilet and advertising went to 0. Word of mouth is the number 1 way a product sells and I think once people play it they will like it. I wouldnt be surprised if it gets a slow start but I do beleive it will be a successful system.Anyway, as for the OP. I think it will be blamed, and it deserves it.
