When was the last time you bought a PC game on a physical disc?

Wondering if it's ok for next gen to be 100% digital downloads only (i.e. like games on steam / iOS app store, etc..).

Aside from used games sales, what's the added value of physical discs if you could download the games you purchase anytime indefinitely?

The last Pc game I bought at retail (Actually online retail, not brick and mortar store, I can't rememebr the last time I did THAT) was Star Craft II, and that was only because I wanted the collector's edition. It must have been at least 2 years before that since my last physical purchase, and I haven't bought a physical disc since SCII.

I also don't plan on purchasing ANY physical games in the future. I'm done with them, even the collector's edition stuff. Even the best collector's edition juink is cool for the first couple of days, and then I regret having the stuff lying around collecting dust.

Nope, just like music, I prefer all my games to be at all times accessible to me via download, or just from living on my harddrive. I don't need or want little dust magnet boxes.

I really don't get some people's obsession with phjysicla discs. IT's a plastic disc people, get over it. I mean, if at the very least we were getting old-school style game manuals and extras, then MAYBE I would understand, but now a days it's just a box, with a single sheet of paper, usually advertising for some other game, and that's it.

Who cares about that? I want to play the game, not stare at a box.

I love my game cases, especially special editions where they give you a cloth map etc.

I'm a sucker for that stuff and am very proud of my collection.

LOL! Yeah that's it, that was my last phsyical disc purchase: NWN 2. I remember I bought it at Gamestop. They still had PC games back then. I ended up buying it again on Steam when it made an appearance there, just so I could finally throw away the stupid disc.

Diablo 3. I also bought Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, Deus Ex: HR, Skyrim, all on disc.

Diablo 3 but before that it was Battlefield 3. Find myself rarely getting the physical version unless it's obviously cheaper.

Battlefield 3, because unlike Steam, Origin was quite the arse and charges people outside US extra for digital version.

I got San Andreas on a disc because I was craving it and my PS2 version does not work on my non BC PS3. It was $5, damn cheap, then a few weeks later all the GTA games on Steam become $9 and I got that.
