Ok guys, this is a serious question...when was the last time you had a good online match. Im not talking about "Well, it was ok." I'm not talking about "Yeah, I won by a lot, so I guess it was good." I'm talking about an online match were everyone was mature, and everything just went fine and everyone was amicable? I personally cannot remember the last time. Yeah, I win a lot in the games I play (as long as they aren't RTSes), but even winning can seem sour if the game was absolute trash. Take for instance my foray into a casual game of Resistance 2 today.

So you know, I'm just chilling here at home and I'm thinking about throwing in an hour or so of Resistance 2 to spice up the evening. So I log onto my PSN account, put in the disc and start playing. Meh, I dont really feel like playing a ranked match, so I guess I'll play a player created match...How about deathmatch? Yeah I love death match! Ooo! A game with 60 players on!? Nice...join! So I get into the game just as the round ends and a new round begins. BEGIN. I whip out my carbs and start racking in the kills. All's good till some idiot over the mic starts complaining about the carbs being cheap :| Really? The carbs? "Yeah, the grenade launcher is a noob weapon!" Oh ok, so I spot using the grenade launcher...I kill the guy 5-7 more times. "Zomg the carbs is so dirty!" I'm not even using the grenade launcher and this guy is calling the carbs cheap! He claims that it does too much damage So next time I die, I switch to the Bullseye.

Wow, 10 kill streak! NICE! "Zomg, there is a noob tagging with the Bullseye!" WTF? :| Apparently Im supposed to snipe people from across the map with a Bullseye without using the tag :| "Dude, tagging is for noobs, you suck noob!!11!" Ok, So I change my weapon to the shotty. Everyone and their mother knows that the shotty is the most craptacular game in R2. It requires 2 sometimes even 4 shots from point blank to kill someone and the reload time is 3-4 seconds. So i use my hide behind doors and start killing with the shotty. A few minutes later It starts again. "Ok someone ban this noob using all the cheap weapons in the game!" --"Yeah I know, he's just oppurtinizing and killing people with the shotty! What a coward!"...So now im dumbfounded...I don't even know whats going on here. I've got about 30 kills to go before I win, so I change my berserk to invisibility and start meleeing people with the pistol. MELEE WITH A PISTOL!!! Lo-and Behold some one calls that cheap! Ok guys, I dont what to say here, but when meleeing with a pistol is considered cheap, one's got to wonder...what do the pros do? Do they just jump around in a match and see who quits the match first?

Needless to say, I got my kills and there was more and more complaining about my "cheap tactics". So I just quit the game before the next round began, but not before I left a few "choice" words to my fellow gamers... :x

Anyways, I digress...when was the last time you had an online match that you thought to yourself "Wow...that match was freaking awesome!"

Well the pro's aren't the ones complaining, its usually the wannabe pro's who do the most complaining.

Months ago in Halo 3. Got on a team, and while some of the people sounded younger, they handled themselves very well. After a match we lost, we all partied up, and after that, we went on a 12 game winning streak in big team.

Resistance 2, absolutely hilarious moment near the end where every single player spawned in almost the exact the same space with only a log to seperate. It was a 60 player TDM. Whoever says having more players dosn't make a game more fun is wrong, this was just awesomely ridiculous. Not that it was really meant to happen. Grenades flying about like crazy, people forming little teams on either side, people attempting flanks by jumping on the logs etc. Best final 10 minutes of a game ever, pure awesome.

I love those kinds of matches. I get called a camper in CoD4 all the time even though I move back and forth from 5-10 different places.

I tell them "you want me to rush you with my sniper rifle?" between matches and one wise guy says "yea you noob!" so the next game I kill his whole team with a hand gun.

Needless to say... he left the game

Ive been so swamped with single player games, i havent playing online since way before christmas, despite just getting COD5. Last awesome multiplayer match wouldve been the last time i played COD4....which was probably back in late November/early december.

Last genuinely great MP game I played was Rainbow Six: Vegas. Between the tactical gameplay, Halo 3's popularity (read: no whining 13 year olds) and a major gameplay flaw (in Attack and Defend you recieved more experience for longer games, so once the attackers had the package they would become the de facto defenders), the game had one of the best communities I've ever seen.

I had some amazing Gears 1 games about a year ago, but a few monthes ago, when I was playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory for a couple weeks, I had some ridiculous matches. Can't wait for the new Wolfenstein.

Edit: Actually, about a month and a half ago I had a good CoD4 game or two.

About half a year ago in Halo 3, when team snipes was going. The game started and I hit the back button and noticed the rest of my team dropped. So it was 1 v 4. I ended up shutting them down with the final score being 8 to 50.

A few days ago in Bad Company. I was playing with friends and I was a demoliton, and we had a support, specialist, and assault. It was really fun running from gold crate to gold crate and working together. I always get good online matches though.

Today in Halo 3 I had a pretty good match. It was Team Snipers on Highground. (Shotty Snipers on Sniping Grounds Varient - In Matchmaking) It was a really relaxed match, even though it was pretty close the whole game. No (noticiable) lag, it was a smooth match. I got the last kill when the game was 49-49 with headshot, and in the postlobby people were talking about my headshot :). In fact, I'm bout to boot up Halo right now.

I think in September.
In TF2. Everyone was having fun on our team, trying to capture a capture point. We tried everything.
Even though we lost, everyone was working together trying to take them down. I remember this game, because I don't usually have a lot of those.

Usually, though there's at least one guy that will ruin it.
I can't tell you how common it is to have a wannabe clan come in and talk **** to you right from the get go.
It's always fun to beat them. Usually COD in this case, btw.

I don't ever expect to have good games in the more popular games.
If you're playing a game in the top10 on LIVE, you're going to just find ******** faster.

Good as just owning everyone?
I don't know, maybe a couple weeks ago. Those are on and off, and not really as memorable.

A few of my favorites, in just owning everyone with the shotgun in Sabotage in COD4.
It took me a long damn time to get good with the shotgun, and I was a beast with it. Both times I had the bomb.
One was on Crash, and the other was on China town. I just move the corners, and take out there whole team, plant it, and get the win. You don't even want to hear the ******** after these matches lol.

Not surprisingly, all my bad rep comes when I do good like that.
Those are special matches to me. Seriously, if you're a God at the game of choice, you'll probably own me.
I take the neg feedback as a compliment, really.

I've been playing more single player games as of late, and haven't got on much MP.
Probably try to get some in soon, though.

Scoring kills with an M9 or using a sniper without ADS is hilarious. It's like a desperate last attempt to get out of a messy situation, and despite the fact their using an M16 you still manage to get them. Killing without ADS is particularly funny though. I think I killed someone by accident once with a jolt reaction. One shot from a sniper at close range was enough.

Still I stopped playing CoD 4 a while back. I just don't understand how a game that rewards the winning team by allowing that team to win even easier is really fair. It barely ever leads to tight matches, because as soon as helicopters appear kills rack up very quickly, and that usually means one side gains a massively unfair advantage. The perk system dosn't work very well either, Martyrdom in particular is stupid beyond reason. I don't understand how people can defend it, "Oh, only a noob wouldn't make it out of the blast radius." Yeah, right, and the blast radius is the size of the room and I have 3 seconds to escape instant death from the guy I just killed. Brilliant. Snipers are the only real way to avoid most of these annoyances. Snipers themselves are imbalanced though. So easy to get a one shot kill it's ridiculous. Half the time a headshot isn't required, and even the first sniper available (Which I used almost exclusively.) fires quickly enough to get a second shot in. It's hard to miss aswell, seeing as the gun has insane accuracy.

This one match in Red Orchestra (a WW2 sim) where everyone solely used Melee attacks. It was freakin' hilarious, I recall seeing one of my teamates getting ganged up on by like 10 Germans just swinging away at him with their guns, we also would agree to go one on one sometimes on the wing of a crashed plane and would take turns running at each other like it was some medevial joust, and whenever someone would fire a single shot, everyone would make killing him top priority, even his teamates.

Also early every match I had on BG2. Since it was set in the revolutionary war, most of the killing done by beating people to death rather than shooting them. The best times I had was on maps with water since there were no restrictions for being under water (other than jamming your gun) which led to underwater bayonet fights.

And this match in BF2 on Wake Island (more like rape island), I managed to get a whole squad on the enemy ship, their spawn point, by going to the very edge of the map and flying incredibly high then dropping out above the ship. First we picked them off from the upper deck, whenever they went for a chopper or plane we'd snipe them with glass shattering sniper rifles, eventually I jacked their Black Hawk, parked it right next to left edge of the deck then manned the mini gun covering all of the spawn points on the deck, then my teamates took over their choppers and hovering jets, and I'm pretty confident my teamates took over the lower hanger which was the 2nd spawn point.

There's also this amazing server hosted by the site tactical gamer, I played a couple of rounds on their BF2 server and the best match I had was this one on Karkand. My team, the MEC, was losing pretty badly so our commander had the brilliant idea of withdrawing the trainyard which was the perfect defensive position, the cooperation between the all the players was unrivaled by anything I've ever seen online, mainly because you got kicked if you didn't follow orders (although some squad leaders didn't issue orders at all).

Dunno. Probably Bad Company sometime. You're bound to have a good match every now and then. 1 in 10 sucks, 1 in 10 rocks, the rest is sort of bland ok-ness. Serious business games with serious business communities is where you're most likely to find the least amount of idiots. Like Project Reality for BF2. Or maybe that crowd has grown all elitist by now.

zepman71

This.

When both teams have experienced quality players as a majority,(which is common on PC) TF2 can be considered as the best online FPS.

One particular instance comes to my mind. In Dustbowl part 2, I was on the red team defending the last point. Half of the team was using mic. We had ****load of engies in the team so someone joked about it with shouting "WE NEED MORE ENGIES" and another one responded "Why not?". Eventually everybody in the team swiched to engineer as we were telling them to. What a wonderful sight was that, a total of 15 engineers building, repairing, helping each other while the blue team was killed by the awesomeness of the team (or was it the sentries?). After a few minutes we realised that we have even MORE engineers in our team as blue team started to spy rush us as expected. Few of us turned to Pyros and started doing patrols. We won the round but it was not easy. Each engineer worked really hard and we were coordinated as the opposing team who attacked us with ubered demoman combos and such. But our rebuilding procces was so fast that they can't rush to the point.

Next round we were attacking. We were celebrating our victory through the mics and decided to go all spy. We were burned to hell by enemy pyros. Changed to all Heavy and ridiculed by te army of enemy snipers. Eventually again everyone turned to engineers and we melee rushed them. We lost the round but it was a reaaaly good laught.

Most of the matches I had one that map was on the USMC team. Anyway, jacking the ship wasn't easy, that was the only successful attempt I made. But I'll admit I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of what I did.

in cod waw. zombies mode. 4 of us were guarding each window. then as the zombies start to pour in we open the door. we had over 2000 xp. so we spand it on the swap for a radom weapons box. my team mates get all good guns. but i get a flame thrower. we kick ass. up to level 35 it was insane. we fall back and like 40 zombies are coming towards us. we gun down ten of them. we were almost done for. then my team mate kills him self to self us. he holds a frag. and goes into the pack. boom. all of them down. 3 of us left. 37. we die fast. but it was epic.

September 2005, in DoD 1.3, right before Day of Defeat: Source came out on the DoD-Dexworld server. Everyone who played on the server knew each other and we all just played the game for fun. Ever since then I've never found an as enjoyable experience with online gaming.

Yea, DoD was so awesome in the mod days, Omaha was just crazy.

I think the other good one was the radar station one.... all pretty good maps though.
