I believe mine was back in 1978 when i went across the street to a friends house on Dec 26th and they had just gotten the Atari 2600 for christmas, and when i walked into there living room and saw them playing Pac Man, a game that until that day i've only seen in the arcade, now being played in my friends living room, well that was it, i had to have the Atari 2600.

We all know the 2600 version was of a lesser quality but it was something that could finally be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home right on your TV, no more begging your mom to drive you to the arcade and give you $10.00 in quarters, no more waiting in line to play a certain arcade game, only to have to stop playing mid game and rush home because it was time for dinner or because you had to try and get back to school before lunch was over.

Arcade games could finally be enjoyed at home for the first time and with similar looking joystick controllers, all you had to do as a kid back then was ask for the 2600 for christmas and games for your birthday or other occasions your parents deemed necessary and you were golden.

That was the first time i fell in love with a home console, and i've owned every console and portable ever since, and i expect them to pry a controller out of my cold dead hands in another 35 years or more.

I was curious about console gaming, and my friends were pressuring me, so I purchased a PS3. It's served me quite well.

it was the year 1995

I just sat in my room doing some homework when my father came home with a box; I just assumed it was computer parts so i ignored it. Hours later i heard a very loud "SEGA" coming from the living room. Turns out that big box was a sega genesis 8)

and the rest is history :P

It had me at the part where the round Xbox logo appeared when you turn on the system, that's when I knew.

NES, but more specifically Legend of Zelda. That game blew my mind and then some. I've since had an Atari 2600, NES. SNES. Ninendo 64, Ps2, Gameboy, and PS3.

N64 gave me Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and Goldeneye 64 as well as Shadows of the Empire (at least, I think that's the Star Wars game I really liked).

PS3 is the first console since to recapture that magic, though to a lesser extent.

When me and my brother got an NES for Christmas.

Then we got to play awesome games like Castlevania 1-3, Zelda, Mario and Double Dragon.

But then in the early to mid 1990s the PC started to get more support with games like X-Com, System Shock, Creature Shock, Doom 3, Wolfenstein 3D, Gabriel Knight and Alone in the Dark and I fell in love with that and only used consoles as a back up for certain games.

I was really little, and my family went over to my uncles house. He was playing Richard Scarry's Busytown (????) on the genesis and I was WOAH MAN WHAT'S UP? He let me play that and Vectorman and I was like, obsessed. A week later, my uncle decided to give me the Genesis as a gift, and here I am.

N64. I'm 18, and I can remember playing my SNES, but at that age, playing power rangers or whatever the fad was, out in the backyard appealed to me more.

We had an Atari 2600 and Pong machine in the house since i was born, but my first console was the NES, i was about 6 or 7 when it was released here so that was my first console, i'd say my first console "love" would be the SNES, Christmas day could'nt come soon enough and when it did i finally got to open my SF2 SNES pack. Its one of them childhood memories i'll never forget. Not so say i didnt love the NES but i was very young at the time and getting it didnt create an ounce of the excitement that the SNES did.

Commodore 64. The killer appeal of the NES was the fact its games didn't have 15 minute loading screens for each level.

And people cry about PS3 installations

It was Christmas 1999 when I got the PS1. I had so much fun with that console. My first game was Metal Gear Solid. Probably shouldn't have been playing MGS when I was 7 but oh well. Awesome game!

Probably the SNES. Mario Paint made me fall in love with it. I played that game for days. As an aspiring cartoonist, it was a dream come true for me...at the time. I was able to animate my stick figures. It was amazing.

Super Nintendo man! I was very young, it was my brothers. Mario World and Zelda for single player, Mario Kart, Bomberman, Zombies Ate My Neighbours and Street Fighter 2 for multiplayer. The sheer awesomeness you could have with half a dozen games!

Your "memory" isn´t that good,Pac man was released in the 2600 only in 1982,not 1978.

I guess your "memory" isn´t as good as you think...

My first love of a console was also an Atari 2600. I remember getting it on Christmas and had a blast with it. I remember sitting up late some nights, playing Centipede or Moon Patrol. Those were good, simple times.

Dreamcast si the only console I liked. I love my PC, but a console will never replace it.
