We all know that sony is losing money due to their PS3 sales, so the question is "when will they leave gamming?"

I'm pretty sure that if the sales continue like this probably this is their last generation console..

the wii is the first console in quite some time to actually turn a profit on the hardware

TC : SONY = MOVIES, MUSIC, HDTV's, CELL PHONES, PS3, PS2, PSOne, PSP, other electronics, etc.

The PS3 is selling fantastically an electronics device.

The Pricey PS3 isn't selling like the PS2 did...so what.

Nintendo fell a few gens, so maybe that's what will happened with SONY, but they are far from out, having sold over 22 MILLION PS3's!

You are acting like the PS3 is a Dreamcast that sold less than 4 million before they closed down.

The PS3 and 360 sales are very close, so actuing like SONY is dead, and M$ is doing amazing makes no sense.

I remember in the glory years of the PlayStation 2,SCE was one of the most profitable parts of the business.

I bet there are a few people high up at Sony secretly questioning just whats happened to their gaming division and how it'll all end.

Um... the Gamecube last generation did and I'm pretty sure the Nintendo 64 did as well.

It's cost them money this time around, but they're not stupid enough to drop out. This gen wasn't the best for them, although it is picking up. However they have seen what they can do with the PS2, so why would a company give that up?

I doubt Sony gaming division is going anywhere, nor Sony for that matter.

PS3 is awesome. I would never buy an inferior console and crap quality console like the 360. If sony leave gaming then im sticking to Wii and PC.

Not really, inflation is inflation. J.D. Rockefeller was considered the richest man in the world, and he never aquired what Sam Walton aquired, yet Rockefeller had more of the worlds money than Walton had.

Inflation aside, Sony has sole over 22 million+ units of the PS3, and we just passed the Two year mark. Sony also is involved in Blu-Ray, which the PS3 is helping along.

Did Sony sacrifice they Playstation Brand to propell Blu-Ray, that could be a yes, BUT the PS3 is doing great. It's just not doing as well as the Wii, but it is on pace with the 360 which had a full one year lead, and was cheaper from the outset.

so they dominate the industry for over a decade, then have a sub par performance (in relation to their previous consoles, cause 20+ million units sold in just over 2 years is hardly afailure), and now they are just supposed to quit. So with that theory Nintendo should have stopped after the game cube. They aren't going anywhere get over it. The blatant fanboy in your post is not a good look. Quit with the wishful thinking. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony aren't going ANYWHERE

Nntendo's Gamecube and M$'s Xbox sold around 25 MILLION systems after being on the market for over 4 years. I would guess that the PS3 will have double sales of the GC/Xbox1 when this generation ends.

once the ps3 price comes down (hopefully they add BC again) it may take the lead over the 360 years and years down the road

I don't think sony is going anywhere any time soon. They're suppose to break even with the ps3 later this year.

you should worry more about microsoft they already had to cut down the flight simulator game division the xbox might be next.
