When will we get a real platformer again ?

I've loved platformers since Mario 64 and the N64 was packed full of AAA ones but theres been a seriously shortage this gen of platformers. IDT the 360 even has a game that can pass for a decent platformer and While I liked Rachet and Clank UYA is it me or is Ratchet more or less a 3rd person shooter with Platforming not a platformer.

Jak and Daxter the first one was the best platformer I played all last gen and the 2nd might have been as good it wasnt so shooter / Fake GTA oriented. And The Reviewer was right Ratchet Monkey Ball ? Pirate Dancing to Open doors , yeah some of those ideas are just stupid.

Super Mario Galaxy looks like the game I've been the first real AAA platformer since jak and Daxter that isnt 40-60% shooting, Are there anymore comming soon ?

Crash of the Titans its pretty old-school and dint get that bad of a score. I got it because frankly the demo was fun as hell on co-op. The game itself is probably in retrospect bad single player but i really though it was worth the co-op. Anyway if you are looking for a platformer for the 360 download crash of the titans demo

Another action adventure game i can recommend is Kameo.

Well the DS gets loads of AA sidescrolling platformers....meetroid8

yes but dont overlook SMG, its sad that this entire gen will probably only have 2 AAA platfomers in BT and SMG when the N64 had like 4 alone

Kameo isnt a platfomer is the least thats like saying Zelda is a platformer. I'd actually like to see a BLinx sequel if they did it better, the pure concept and some of its execution were amazing

The DS is one of the best platforming consoles of all time.

If you're talking about fake platformers (aka 3D platforming), then look no further than SMG and Banjo Threeie. Outside of that, you don't have many options. Not a whole lot of publishers seem to be willing to throw their money around at platformers, which is odd, seeing as how a great deal of the best-selling games of all time are platformers. However, admittedly, every one of those games has the name "Mario" somewhere in it.

NSMB, The Castlevanias, the Sonic Rushes, Yoshi's Island, M v DK, MM, Kirby, Super Princess Peach.... they are there

if you were looking for an upcomming platformer/action Naruto Rise of ninja is exclusive. I just wanted to promotecrash because ithasn't really been appreciated IMO.

well... i dont know did you try the crash of the titans demo? to that seemed kinda good. Realistically paltformers is kinda of a dieing gener outside Nintendo platforms(banjo 3 might change that.)

Eh, IMO Ratchet is a platformer with shooting on the side. REally, REALLY enjoying the ps3 version.

when a game can be played as a FPS you cant really say shooting on the side either way I beat UYA the platformer aspect wasnt as high as the mario , banjo or jak1 platforming games

Lol cool thanks, but seriously, I'm sure we'll see more than just 2 AAA platformers this gen. hopefully other companies will follow SMG's example and try and do better.

According toa few people I know that have actually had the chance to play SMG, it changed their lives.
