But i still dont want one. The price of the console is far too high (when you take in the cost of extras such as a component cable and 3 nunchucks/remotes). Third party support is a joke (for this next year anyway) and Nintendo's plans for the functionality of the system are still up in then air. I personally think i'll get one next year. Third party support should have caught up by then and we should start seeing some Big Games from competent developers around that time (like we saw with the DS). Nintendo should also have a few games online by then (such as Battalion Wars) offering at least some sort of online experience. In addition the Wii shop channel should be up and running and the VC slection should be much greater, further burying XBox live arcade and the PSN download service.NorthlandMan
1. When Nintendo has them in stock and I can casually go online and order it.
2. The day Night 2 comes out.
Â
That totally depends on the games released in the future, but at the current rate, the chances of me purchasing one seem unlikely. The only Wii games that I want are Mario Galaxy and SSBB, but 2 games hardly justifies the purchase of a console.RobbieH1234
As someone who currently owns 2/3 consoles I will say that the Wii does seem to have the most add ons that I feel I need when I purchase the Wii.
This is stuff that I will needwhen I get a Wii.
1. Classic controller.Â
2. Ethernet lan line adapter.Â
3. Memory card.
4. Component cables.Â
5. 2nd Wii controller + Nunchuck
6. And a game of course.
When I got my 360 all I got was gears and a second controller. PS3 I had to get the HDMI cable and some blu ray movies.
I'm not saying its good or bad. But for me the Wii will end up costing 350 - 400.

you look like one of those sony pr guys that did the 360/ps3 comparison chart before launch.Â
1. don't need for wii games. if you have GC controller, you won't need for vc games either.
2. don't need if you have wireless. costs less than 360 wireless adapter.
3. don't need. games are saved on built in flash.Â
4. only if you have that type of tv.Â
5. same as you'd need to do for other consoles.
6. comes with one unlike other consoles.

I would get one when there are between five and ten titles that I would really enjoy. I'm not particularly fond of the Mario or Metroid franchises, so thus far only Dragon Quest has captured my interest. The Wii version of The Godfather looks pretty cool too, but I don't know if that would be worth a purchase.MyopicCanadianI think you should buy The Godfather when the price goes down or at least rent it. I completely enjoyed this game and was addicted to it until I passed it. I'm going through it a second time, but a little more slowly right now. The controls are excellent and it's definitely a great title.
Value is relative. You do not need component cables or extra controllers. Really? Is third party support a joke? There are 131 developers working with the Wii now. They are? Online is being released with SM Strikers. You do know that it takes anywhere from 12-18 months to make a game, don't you? You cannot just say, lets make a game and make it in the same month, it takes time, and money. The VC selection is huge, have you taken a look at it since launch? There are at least 15 excellent titles.foxhound_foxI'd say component cables were a must on many TV's (or RGB scart if they were not availble). That number of developers SOUNDS impressive but both the quantity and quality of support right now is severely lacking. Take crapcom for example, they have a gun survivor game and a generic looking platformer called "treasure island" coming out. Hardly earth shattering and the VC selection is indeed huge, but i wants more. Give me some saturn support and some squeenix titles and i'm all set!!!
font face="georgia, palatino">Our opinions seem to be polar opposites. In my eyes, 2 games and Wii Sports would in no way justify a 250 euro purchase. Hell, 9 360 games have barely justified the purchase of my Xbox, but that's just me. Plus the future lineup has not interested me at all. Again, that's just my taste in games and in no way represents the quality of the Wii's lineup. But hey, maybe my brother will buy one and save me the money. :PMy thoughts exactly. there are a handful of Wii games worth getting right now, and there wont be much more by the end of the year. In addition the level of third party support is a joke (as i said before) with only 3 or 4 third party games coming out that look genuinely exciting.

Well that's good to hear! That puts me up to two titles, I'll only need a few more to secure my purchase :)
I want one when a mixture of these criteria are met:
1. Price drop. $250 is certainly not a bad price, but in my opinion it is just a bit too much for a console of that... calibur. I would also like to see the price of peripherals fall a bit since having to buy the nunchuck and Wiimote (each of which are roughly the price of a used PS2 controller) is quite idiotic.
2. Games. The selection right now is quite good actually - I can count at least five or so games I wouldn't hesitate to buy. But it needs more heavy hitters like Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB and Metroid Prime 3. Ideally, late 2007 would be an ideal time provided other criteria on this list are fulfilled.
3. Better online. Online gaming adds longevity and it would be nice to see a proper unified online infrastructure. SSBB is supposedly including it which is a nice start, but we need more 3rd party developers utilising it too. Plus a think the Virtual Console needs beefing up a bit and lowered in price.
4. Kojima's Project. Now, i'm a huge fan of Kojima (hence my Snatcher avatar and my undying love for MGS), so i'm waiting to see what he decides to do on the Wii. An adventure could be nice a la Snatcher or Policenauts (pity it never got an English release), or even his older games downloadable on the VC.

well cut out the classic....not really needed unless your going to live on the virtual console...2nd wii mote is probably, me, i'm not going to get any extra nunchux since it sounds like most of the time i'll be playing rayman, wario, or wii sports until there are some major games....memory card? why? component cables? they don't come with the system? it just sounds like people make it sound like there's a lot more to buy then necessaryÂ

If that's true then why arn't you buying them and selling them on eBay? You will easily get double your money back.Â

That's right. He needs them because he said so. Thriftiness is a lost art you know. The Wii is the biggests selling next gen console around right now. It has unparalleled momentum, has capctured the public's imagination and shows no signs of slowing down (Nintendo are selling them as fast as they make them). My question is, when do you think you'll buy one? I think most people will end up buying one because it doesn't really have any direct competition and it's pretty much assured to be the dominant platform (for the next few years anyway). But i still dont want one. The price of the console is far too high (when you take in the cost of extras such as a component cable and 3 nunchucks/remotes). I will buy one if and when; it comes out in black, has DVD capabilities built in, the console price comes down a little, hopefully the VC titles too, and it has some trully great software that actually utilises the controller effectively (and I mean really polished implementation here) and the game don't look like at best average Xbox titles...

The games will always look at best a high end xbox game. Don't delude yourself into thinking otherwise. Also, you don't have a DVD player?Â
