I have 2 problems w/ psn...
1. they basically just match xbl on the bullet points. Most of the features psn matches xbl on are worse on psn. Let's start w/ mics. Now hypothetically using bluetooth mics, and usb mics should mean better voip sound quality right? Out of the few psn players that use mics most of them sound terrible (i'd say about 5/10 have mics 3/10 use them). I don't know if it's mic quality or what (I own the official SOCOM mic which was very highly rated), or the audio encoding or what, but there's definately a higher quality of communication going on w/ the 360. I will admit though since the party system has been activated less people are randomly chatting on XBL. Next is matchmaking. MS has trueskill rankings, join in progress, and a ton of other great ways to play w/ your friends. PSN doesn't even show me what my friends are playing. I can send invites, but I feel like I'm annoying them more than inviting them. Not only does PSN just match bullet points, but they match them later than XBL. Basically it's the "me too" attitude that's plagued the ps3 this whole gen. There are very few original ideas on psn right now, and they suck (ie home).
2. The community. Basically PSN is lacking a thriving online community. Even w/ charging a monthly fee XBL games have much more active players than their psn counter parts.
Now the new pay service for psn may help the first problem. From what I see there's a few things on the potential list that are really cool, but it's also things that if intergrated into XBL will probably be available to silver members. Also this pay service is going to do nothing w/ helping out the community which is pretty much the only reason XBL wins most of the time anyway.
