[QUOTE="BPoole96"][QUOTE="MortalDecay"] Taking elements from other games, and putting them into a different genre suddenly makes that game innovative? If so, there's A LOT of innovative games out there.MortalDecay
That's not really a bad thing. When somebody has a good idea there's no harm in using that idea for an idea of your own. that is, unless it is a blatant rip off of the initial thing such as what Dante's Inferno copies from GoW. The innovation from LBP that is being used for Modnation Racers is a great use of the original idea put in a different genre
I think people try to over use the word, "innovation". It's really hard to be innovative anymore. It seems like everything has been done before, and devs are just trying to find different ways to use past innovations. and that is NOT a bad thing. Just because a game isn't innovative, doesn't mean it's not fun. I love Dante's Inferno because it's a GOW rip off. I see a lot of people complaining about it being a rip off like it's a bad thing. It's not. It's a rip off of one of the best hack and slash games of all time.I agree that is it very difficult for a developer to be innovative, but that's why when something like LBP or even Kz2's cover system comes along, that is why it's called innovative. There's hardly anything left.
I don't have too much of a problem with Dante's Inferno. I played the demo and it is a 'good' rip off of God of War, but it isn't worth it to me since GoW3 comes this March
