Where do you see Android and Ios in 5 years ?
what do you think both operating systems will be capable of ?
who will have the bigger share of smartphones ?
and what do you expect from gaming on them in 5 years ?

With physical controls, hopefully.charizard1605That would be nice but sadly I don't think they will go that route
Windows Phone is already outdoing on a worldwide basis, apparently. It's still trailing behind the other two, but it's already begun overtaking iOS in a lot of European, Latin American, and Asian markets. Android remains the king, though.5 years is a long ass time in tech. Â May have even moved on from those two. Â But android will probably still be out doing iOS, and WP may actaully start being honest competition for iOS

I think it has a ton of untapped potential. Phones will only get more powerful, but I would expect something along the lines of the Nvidia Shield that just happens to use Android to really push it in a way that mainstream gamers would enjoy--something akin to a Vita but equipped with Android. Hell, even Apple might get in on it now that Jobs isn't over there holding them back from expanding into the gaming realm.Â

It's hard to say who will win out in terms of gaming: Android or iOS. While I like the open source nature of Android, the rampant piracy and diverse array of phones could really hamper it, whereas iOS doesn't have such problems to such a large degree.Â
Only three companies will make Androids in 5 years: Samsung, HTC and Motorolla iOS will be what it will always be, a solid niche with a die hard fanbase bordering on cult. Android can do amazing things once fragmentation is solved. iOS needs brilliant and innovative minds. Android 55 percent, but split between Samsung, HTC and Motorola. Apple will have no such problem, and will not suffer from cannibalization. Gaming bubble will burst on smartphones, and handhelds could experience a renaissance.hiphops_savior
HTC has not been doing so well. And Google will probably continue "making" phones

If it was for only 3 companies would making androids in 5 years HTC probably wouldnt be one of them and probably neither motorola
LG thanks to Nexus line is doing decently ( turning up a small profit unlike HTC, motorola ) , Sony started getting its act together on smartphones thanks to some great mid-range phones and chinese companies like Huwaei ZTE and lenovo thanks to a strong chinese market are experiencing huge growth and are already above traditional companies like HTC,Sony and Motorola http://www.androidcentral.com/idc-samsung-still-largest-smartphone-manufacturer-lg-and-lenovo-see-huge-growth
And Samsung of course is dominating sales but no one knows if they continue to do so in 5 years but they seem to be in a secure place thanks to Galaxy and Note series as well to have a huge line-up for every one and a global presence and been able to manufacture phones on their own using mostly their own parts ( such as memory chips )

Motorola isn't going anywhere. They may not be currently turning a profit, but I'm sure Google will be in it for the long run. They'll likely want to continue making their "Own" Android Experiences and I can see them dropping the third party Nexus support in favor of giving the line to Motorola as well.As gaming devices?
Still pathetically far behind getting a aging port from nearly a decade old and phone gamers suddenly thinking they're relevant again.
Jonwh18
Android and iOS devices are far more relevent to gaming then the 3ds and vita.

On Android and iOS, you have You got Gameloft, Epic, Madfinger, Square, Firemonkey, Phosphor games just to name a few. I don't see a lot of AAA studios lining up to make unique games for handheld gaming platforms.

Monster Hunter 4 just sold 4 million in Japan, and Pokemon X and Y is getting major buzz.[QUOTE="g0ddyX"]This is the kind of thread I love reading so I can see g0ddy's stupid posts. It's okay, G0ddy's stupid posts are thread agnostic. He has this weird Nintendo obsession/fetish, where he will somehow find a way to bring them up even when the thread literally has nothing to do with them. Its expanding.

5 Years time, iOS and Android will have Nintendo/Sega games on them also.
Well, they have some sega games already.

Maybe in 5 years Android will finally be as smooth and responsive as iOS is right nowm3Boarder32Lol. It sounds like either you haven't used an Android phone in three years, or that your experience is limited to entry level Huawei phones at best,

Android now is silky smooth, and at least with the release of iOS 7, actually more stable and smooth. Although iOS still has the better battery life, so that's something, I suppose.
Android still the unstable mess it is now, but with more super duper cores, and ios still showing better performance, usability, with a much better app selection. Dropping android was the best decision I ever made in regards to mobile devices.
