there is a good discussion on gaf about how memoriable WWs art style is.
where should nintendo go?
if you have other choices like a Midna spinoff or somthing discuss.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I guess that I'd prefer a cel-shaded game with a steampunk artsty|e.
Oh, and they should bring back some/all of the gameplay mechanics from Majora's Mask...and sailing (thus combining my two favourite Zelda games).
They should explore a brand new world, in cel shaded graphics. The game should follow the story of the Link from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, and should center around the exploration of a new land that is necessary because...
Hyrule was forever buried beneath the sea at the end of Wind Waker.
With a new land to explore, Aonuma and company would really be free to go nuts with new mechanics and fresh mythology; sort of a"down the rabbit hole" type of story, maintaining the mystic wonder of Majora's Mask, but fusing it with the epic sense of purpose from OoT and TP.
it should die, that series has been going on too long
*end ridiculously bad answer*

lol it was a joke
Just like Metal gear right?
honestly i think it needs a big change. i realized during TP that the formula has gotten stale for me. it just didnt do it anymorecliff122316
Agreed. The next zelda game could be the same old style, and i would be ok with it if they just revamped the formula. It's not bad right now, it could just be better.
I would love to see Zelda: Galaxy! Just like Mario Galaxy, nintendo would be free to do anything! They could randomly switch universes and go from ultra realism to uber cartoonish.
Actually, I think that is a terrible idea.
I say... keep link the same, but change the story and make Vatti the main villian! :D

This. Although I would also really like a Four Swords game on the DS. I really wish Nintendo added Wi-fi support on the DS for mp GBA games.

Agreed. And your sig makes me laugh everytime I see it. :lol:My idea...keep the cell shaded look...but make it steam punk
OOT to WW: it went from mideval to the high seas. the next step in my opinion should be from the pirates age to steam punk.
I even made concept art
I think just the fact that it has Zelda in its name will see copies fly off the shelves upon release here in the states. Zelda has more problems it will be facing going into future iterations. Some of these I experienced first hand with Phantom Hourglass.
The base concept of Zelda, those revolving around exploration and immersion, are what make the series so endearing and classic. These are concepts that game developers overall are trying to return to. The mechanics of Zelda past this, however, are aging with each iteration of the series we see. Especially when we put it up against noteworthy contenders (Okami).Zelda, like a few other Nintendo franchises, are in need of fresh air from a gameplay perspective. Stylistically, the game can do no wrong.
What has always carried this game has been gameplay, and what helped really gloss up the name of Zelda as a series was Ocarina of Time. The fresh gameplay innovations introduced in that title have been reused since, but back then that was really amazing stuff. I would love to see them try somethin new like they did back then. Heck, having the Wii-mote I expect to see it very soon.
I wouldn't mind a game where Link is mentioned, but is NOT the lead character. I think that would be neat. Also, BIGGER CITIES! Think Rabanastre from FFXIIMechaDragon92There were 2 of those on the CDI. Zelda was the main character.
I would like voice acting for everyone except link.
I don't care about graphics style, but design wise, lets drop the strange trippy characters/creatures.
Also, lets drop the dark dimension story elements. TP did not feel like Zelda. It was too surreal and strange.
majora's mask 2!! Writing that makes me kind of depressed because I know it's not going to happen :(
I think they should take the cel-shaded graphics from WW and wolf link from Tp. Then combine it into one massive game, 60 hours without the side quests. Then add in a deeper storyline. It would be cool to see wolf link in cel-shaded graphics
This whole series either needs to stick with what Wind Waker did, or move in a different direction. If they come out with another one of those Ocarina of Time remakes (Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess) it's gonna flop. Those kinda Zelda games are getting stale now, and are bound to start getting the same reception JRPG games are getting now, it's been done once, leave it alone, don't try and do it three more times.
What I'd like it see in the next Zelda game? Different story, different art style, different gameplay, basically something new, and something that although has deep meanings that an older audience can enjoy, looks and feels like it is made for them, instead of opposite. I'd like to see something with faster gameplay, ala a hack n' slash, with more mature characters, a deeper story, not just stop Ganon from once again attempting to take over the land of Hyrule, or said spinoff.
Basically, let someone else develop the game, look at how Nintendo struck gold when they let Retro Studios design and develope Metroid. Give it a different take, a different twist to it, just please not the same thing over and over again.
For the "It should die" remarks, why kill one of the greatest franchises in gaming? You my friend are a hater...
Back to topic I think the LoZ franchise is in need of a change, although I don't mind the old style and could probally play those forever I think for the sake of everyone else, not just the hardcore fans a change such as RE4 from past RE's is in order. That said I don't think we the fans know what we want or could possibly guess what Nintendo will do with the franchise, if anyone can re-invent a franchise it's definetely Nintendo though.
Cel Shaded but TP-like characters and such. So a darker WW with a grown up link.Wesliitook the words right out of my mouth
I think Zelda was going amazingly well til Twilight Princess. A great game but stuck in the past really. You(or at least I...) can see the line of evolution from Link to the Past to Ocarina to Majora to Windwaker. Then TP is basically back to Ocarina formula. Again, it's great but leave the imitations to your competitors Nintendo! Windwaker especially blew me away because of the vast ocean and tons of islands to explore, and of course the art styIe.
For the next Zelda, I'd love the emphasis to be on more cities, more lands, more exploration. Like... Assassin's Creed! Lol.
