Thread title says it all. I cant explain why but i become pretty bored of PC gaming after just a couple of hours (sometimes less), there are exceptions though; RTS games, Point and Click adventures and CITY BUILDING games keep me hooked for hours straight.

So.....where the hell are my sequels to games like Caesar, Pharaoh, Master of Olynmpus: Zeus, etc?

I know Impressions Games made a couple of 3D ones but they where souless, BRING BACK 2D!!!!!

PS: Sim City (post 3000) SUCKS!!!

(^Zeus: Master of Olympus)

So pretty:cry:

Thanks I might just look into this game. I'm getting blocked by the site that is hosting the pics. I'm in the UK maybe that's why.

Why? At first I was really frustrated with the game after finally getting hte hang of 3000. Once I got the hang of it I loved it, especially the variety to the game.

hmmm, Googled it, found this:

eh, i really hate these games in 3D. And the realistic approach kills all the charm.

It looks...dull

But i'l give it a try when its out.

I will not deny, that's looks beautiful. But I've hardly even heard of these games and I'm a gaming nut, maybe that's part of the problem. I'll play the Zeus demo and report back.

Its been a while but i remember not really liking the look of the game, and the gameplay isnt as intuitive and polished as Impression Game's entries. These kind of games literaly suck hours of my life so stuff like music, art, gameplay and variety are 1000 times more important, SC4 wasnt bad but it felt like it was made in an assembly line. No charm =/

I like Anno but its really a hybrid game. RTS+CB

But yeah, Anno is the closest thing to a 3D city Building game i actually enjoyed.

For me it never gets old. Excellent replay value.

I'm surprised almost nobody here knows or played Impressions City Building games.

To me they where some of the best things to grace PC gaming.

These are more then wort the (dirt-cheap) price they cost now.

Didn't you get the memo? All devs world wide have signed an agreement to only make four types of games in the future: First Person Shooters, Real Time Strategy, annual Sports titles, and shovel ware games. Sorry.

augh how do i quote lol, can i only do it through quick quote now? but btw the game we can see is called zeus. that's all. it's REALLY old but very fun. tile based city builder, just like sim city only in ancient greece and you can actually win. no 3 trillion dollar deficits in that.

edit: but if you want a reasonably new citybuilding ish game try 1701 ad. colonization game that does technically have war, but it's not hard to play without war. although the queen's navy is stupid. they send like 4 wimpy ships and by then you have 20 fleets of 1st rates.

I really wish I hadn't lost that disc. :(

Your Vista is 64-bit ?

Here (from Gamefaqs):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are having further problems in trying to play the game (Zeus or its' expansion "Poseidon"), you may attempt two ways to do so. One is thru the compatibility option & another is thru running the program as an administrator. By default on the first created user account, you should have the administrator privilege. It varies depending on who had the system first.

To use the compatibility option: right click on the program's icon, select Properties, then click on the tab "Compatibility", checkmark: Run this program in compatibility mode for.
You have the options with the Zeus game to play it in Windows 95. 98, ME, and 2000. Unofficially you can say for it to run on Windows XP if you are using Vista. If you want administrator permission to run the program, checkmark the "Run this program as an Administrator". Click Apply then Ok. Restart the system for good measure on the system knowing you want it to stay this way next time & after all. After the system comes back up, enjoy the game after you run it. =)

I just miss general empire building like Age of Empires 2 style. Total War is as close as I can get. I hate new RTS cause it's just tactics and no base building.
