activision has now reared its ugly head into becoming the most hated in the gaming industry. that CEO's comments about rasing prices charging outrageous amounts and virtually showing no care in gamers has dethroned ea from the most hated
the hate for microsoft is soooo overated, that im pretty sure 90% of the people just doing for the hell of it. every single company on the planet, milks us, in ontario where I live they are thinking of charging us to watch local channels. that have always been free. that is worse than what ever microsoft has ever done.
In Capitalism, they are no "good" companies. They don't want to be friends, they want your money. So stop saying crap like this, because they are all bad, and after the same thing.tehsystemwariorlol? THings aren't only black or white lol. Just because they are all bad doesn't mean someone can't be "worse". Your arguement is terrible.
Microsoft because they charge 100$ or more for accessories like Wi-Fi and Harddrives, something that people could actually use for their 360 and most likely want, but they're so ridiculously overpriced.
All Activision does is milk the hell out of their franchises, only noobs buy stuff like Guitar Hero every year, but lots of people want a bigger hardrive for their 360 but they can't buy any hardrive like you can for PS3 because Microsoft is Apple-like with their hardware.

Agree with this. It's not all black and white. Companies care about profits because they want to remain in good business obviously, but some companies DO care about their fan support, that support is what backs them up when they go into hard financial times.
Companies do good things for the fans lots of times. Sony still pumps out new IPs a lot this-gen, even though they don't have to and could go the Nintendo route if they wanted.

There are companies in this capitalist society that actually play by the rules and compete in a good way. Microsoft is the epitome of how a company can take advantage of the system using shoddy practices to monopolize the market.
So true. Maybe in the early 90s when things were a little more cut-throat, but these days? What do they do which is so terrible or so different from anybody else? Nothing. They've got so much money and market share now they dont even need to do stuff like that. If anything, microsoft has become one of the more boring, tamer companies.the hate for microsoft is soooo overated, that im pretty sure 90% of the people just doing for the hell of it.

Sony because they failed in making ps3 backward capable which is unforgivable.......money hungry sons of ..........
The reason they charge top dollar for accessories and dont allow third parties to make them for less is because last gen they lost billions on the xbox because it was sold at a loss. They have to make money somehow, and that's a good way for them to do it. It sucks that you have to pay more - everyone wants to pay as little as possible - but it's silly to act like that is in any way an evil or unfair business move.Microsoft because they charge 100$ or more for accessories like Wi-Fi and Harddrives, something that people could actually use for their 360 and most likely want, but they're so ridiculously overpriced.

I hate their monopolistic tendencies, whereever they put their hands they just take control of it 100% so they can do whatever they want, it's the OS market and rushing out bad OS's that millions of people are "forced" to buy.
They do the same thing with xbox live, it's a closed off platform, so they can charge for everything, they won't even add in a simple web browser so they can go on adding features like twitter to try to justify it. In other words their making a monumental profit off live and are not giving the consumer the fair return in features.
They do the same with accesories, limit to stuff made by them so they can charge whatever they want and you don't have a choice. I blame them for the rapid growth of DLC and microtransactions, it's like they had this planned since last gen and it's only going to get worse. Some companies have one eye on profit and another on their fanbase or innovation, or on a vision they have or whatever, MS has both their eyes on profit, their just suits in the industry.
And for the record I've always felt this away about MS, how their handling the 360 just confirmed it.

There's no browser on the 360 because of viruses targeted at microsoft products from people who irrationally believe they are evil. :|[QUOTE="RedruM_I"][QUOTE="delta3074"]i am assuming you can prove MS uses shoddy practices, because i would call putting rootkits on music cd's a shoddy practicedelta3074Microsoft has it's history of shoddy prcatices most much worse than the rootkit cd fiasco. I'm not defending the rootkit cd thing and it's one of the reasons I stopped buying music cds altogether but Microsoft has put more limitations to the computer software industry than any other company. Besides the rootkit cd was not intended to monopolize the market but to protect their product (although in a bad way). Microsoft's practices are aimed at monopolizing the market, directly targeting their competition, directly trying to make others products fail (or simply buying them off), directly limiting the users' freedom of choice and decision and making their standards the only choice available. That's how the Micorosft monopoly works and so I think that is far worse than the rootkit thing.i know MS are BAD sometimes, but so are most companys, you guys take this too personally, no offence, but do the things these company's do have a direct bearing on your standard of life?, have you been directly affected by the things they do? at the end of the day you choose to buy there products, or you don't, the choice is yours and yours alone
That's exactly why I'm so critical of Microsoft. They influence what I do directly. I have worked with computers for almost 9 years now and I can see their negative influence on the market. It's difficult to make choices in a market so monopolized by Microsoft. And the monopoliy comes not from their products being the best option or for their overall quality but because they directly try to hinder the efforts of others who try to release better options. If they didn't do such things then I wouldn't have any problem with their company, I could work with the tools and software I like, forget about Microsoft and they can run their business as they please. But once they start messing with my freedom of choice and trying to keep people dependent on Microsoft protocols and software then I'm pissed because in my opinion Microsoft's products quality leaves a lot to be desired and they shouldn't be messing around with what other people are working on.
I have managed to almost completely avoid anything Microsoft right now but sometimes it becomes so difficult just because of they trying to be as closed and as monopolizing as possible.
By the way, many software companies out there are the exact opposite. They try to work on and support standard protocols, services and software that will help making the software industry a much more dynamic and thriving enterprise. The computer market for them should be a niche for developers to make things as open and as standard as possible so that users can choose which things are best and they could bring them together as a whole in easier, more confortable ways and with, overall, much better quality. But since Microsoft practically controls the market and they don{t want such a freedom then they set on themselves to block many of these efforts with those shoddy practices I was talkking about.

If you're going to pick MS for over-charging on accessories, you need to include Apple, also. Apple are the kings of over-priced....everything.[QUOTE="RedruM_I"][QUOTE="delta3074"]i know MS are BAD sometimes, but so are most companys, you guys take this too personally, no offence, but do the things these company's do have a direct bearing on your standard of life?, have you been directly affected by the things they do? at the end of the day you choose to buy there products, or you don't, the choice is yours and yours alonedelta3074That's exactly why I'm so critical of Microsoft. Activision no contest. Had RROD stuck one of Activisions products, would we be getting a free 3 year warranty? I think not. At least MS arent milking their games to hell and back like Activision are, nor are they trying to raise the RRPs or charge disgusting amounts for DLC.Nidget..... Warranty doesnt make up for 360's terrible hardware failure (Rrod)
and Charge disgustingly for DLC? thats MS... >.> Milking? *looks at HALO*

Says the guy called Ratchet fan :| Please, theres been 4 Halo games in 9 years, that is NOT milking. Milking is what activision is doing to Guitar Hero with 50 different iterations every damn year. It doesn't matter what they do, they're always going to be the "evil" company; even though other companies do the same exact thing. You think Sony are better? Remember the first two PS consoles? Both were riddled with problems. Sony had to get SUED before they would even admit there was a problem. When they finally admitted it, did they extend their warranty, like MS did? No way. After making so many excuses, they finally fixed the problem, but what look at what it took for it to happen? At least MS were man enough to admit there was a problem, it was their fault, and did a lot to get the issue resolved, and they did. If you honestly think Sony are better, it's nothing more than your blind loyalty to a company that doesn't care about you any more than MS does. At least MS has shown, even just a little bit, that they do.

Microsoft have affected me in bigger ways than Sony ever did. I can still choose between buying Samsung or any other non-Sony product without worrying that Sony is doing everything they can for that product to fail. It could be a trend to hate Microsoft but I have real reasons since it affects me directly.
Microsoft:
1. They over Charge you for everything (OS, 360 add-ons, Live). So does Apple.
2. They give you half-assed products (Vista, Red Ring). Playstation 2?
3. They pay off other companies for stuff more then any other (paying for timed exclusives). Bad for you, but good for 360 users. Seriously, how can MS caring about their users enough to pay a lot of money for content for their users first be a bad thing?
4. They are way to cocky. Have you seen a lot of the crap Sony talks?
