Which Company is worse, Microsoft or Activision

They are one of the richest companies yet they put down ensemble studios. They are selfish bastards.

While Sony is loosing millions yet they have like 12 companies to sustain and let the people keep their jobs. Enough said.

I hate their monopolistic tendencies, whereever they put their hands they just take control of it 100% so they can do whatever they want, it's the OS market and rushing out bad OS's that millions of people are "forced" to buy.

They do the same thing with xbox live, it's a closed off platform, so they can charge for everything, they won't even add in a simple web browser so they can go on adding features like twitter to try to justify it. In other words their making a monumental profit off live and are not giving the consumer the fair return in features.

They do the same with accesories, limit to stuff made by them so they can charge whatever they want and you don't have a choice. I blame them for the rapid growth of DLC and microtransactions, it's like they had this planned since last gen and it's only going to get worse. Some companies have one eye on profit and another on their fanbase or innovation, or on a vision they have or whatever, MS has both their eyes on profit, their just suits in the industry.

And for the record I've always felt this away about MS, how their handling the 360 just confirmed it.

Microsoft, Imagine how far computer software and operating systems would have come had they not stagnated the market by monopolising it. They along with actvision have shrouded the gaming industry's future in a haze of dlc, pay to play, peripheral addon - milkathon which is not in any of our best interests.

I agree with you, I prefer capitalism.

Activision by a county mile. They did something I never thought could happen: ruin Blizzard. Not only that, they have milked the Call od Duty franchise into the ground (10 games in 7 years.... really?) as well as Guitar/Band/DJ/Generic Plastic Instrument Hero. They charge way too much for DLC, and are seriously screwing gamers in general over.

Microsoft isn't nearly as bad. Do they have a monopoly on OS? Mostly. Do I like it? Nope. But it is extremely easy to program for Windows, which is why it's so popular.That said, Microsoft Word is an abomination. And you can buy a Mac if you hate Microsoft so much. No one's making you run Windows if you don't want to.

As for Microsoft milkage... yeah, they may milk Halo, but not game-wise. 4 games and an x-pac in 9 years is hardly milking, and Bungie makes great games. Do they slap a Halo brand on a lot of stuff? Yes, sir. But the toys, action figues, books, models, etc are generally high quality stuff. Not all of it is, but most is. And they haven't gotten two developers to spit out carbon copy Halo games every year yet, so that's a plus.

The 360 RROD problem was a major one, but I've gone through 3 360s. Eery time I replaced it, they gave me a new warranty and the customer service people I talked to were great. Should it have happened? Nope. But at least they fixed it for me for free. That said, console failures simply shouldn't happen. My N64 still works as well as they day I bought it.

Though they did kill Ensemble Studios, as others have pointed out. That still makes me want to cry. :cry:

I'm kinda suprised Sony and Nintendo didn't make the poll. I would've voted for Nintendo.

I voted Acitivision. But Square-Enix takes the cake.

Bobby Kotick is the right answer. Activision could be cleansed of its sin with him out of the picture.

At least Microsoft replaced my first two 360s when they got the RROD. (BSOD is still scarier, imo).

No they aren't. It wouldn't matter if Sony and Apple used dead puppies to club babies to death, it has no bearing on a discussion about MS's and Activision's respective popularity.
