I say they are equal. Some things the PS3 does better and vice versa.

The PS3 is starting to pull ahead when speaking of pure graphics. The 360 definitely has its share of beauties, but I think it's fair to say Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, and GT5 Prologue look better than almost anything on the market.

they are both much the same. I'd get the ps3 as it is better value, don't even consider the arcade as you'll end up paying more than a pro once you buy all the bits you will want down the track for it.

I bought an arcade, and a 20 gig harddirve for $20 straight from MS during some deal or another, its enough to install a couple games, and gives me full access to what I use the 360 for, which is single player games, and I don't even hook mine up to the internet.

^^^That. It comes down to things like which controller you like more, the games, and whether or not you want bluray right now.
I hate to admit it, being a die-hard Lemming and all, but there's no way that anyone can say (with a straight face) that PS3/360 graphics are on par... I have all of 360's biggest titles, and after playing Killzone 2 and now Uncharted 2, I can honestly say that there is nothing on xbox360 that can compare at this time... maybe Alan Wake will be close, maybe Splinter Cell Conviction... maybe Halo: Reach will become the next bench-mark, but for right now, if graphics are your thing, PS3 has left xbox360 in its dust... play Uncharted 2 on a decent quality HD monitor, in 720p and you'll see exactly what I mean... God, I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's true...
Graphically right now PS3 has the best looking console game. On multiplats 360 seems to be a tiny little bit better looking than PS3 (You wouldn't notice if you just play them). Really what you get should be based on what games you want to play.

Die hard lemming huh, thats interesting considering it looks like you own all 3 consoles. Anyways, when people say they're equal they're meaning capable of producing the same stuff.
They are similiar in graphics capabilities but the PS3 has been pulling ahead a bit with their exclusives. Like others have stated not much on the 360 can compare to games like Uncharted 2. Overall right now the PS3 Slim is a better value than the Elite from a purely technical standpoint (built-in wifi and Blu Ray). What it comes down to though is what system has the most games you want to play.

Gears2 and halo3 will probably give you the most bang for your buck.

Yeah, I have all three and out of every, say, hundred hours I spend gaming on them I use my xbox360 for roughly 99 of those hours and the other 2 consoles? Well, I'm sure you're getting the picture and all...
I would say Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead 2. Most people like Halo (I don't but most do) so you'll probably get your monies worth. Left 4 Dead 2 is my personal choice since I have something like 275 hours in L4D1 (on the PC mind you but I would probably have gotten over 100 on the 360 anyway) and L4D2 looks like it will be adding a lot.

Normally, one game alone isn't worth that kind of investment, but Uncharted 2 most certainly is... No one game is worth buying a console for the whole library is what you need to look at.
