i have each console but now my son wants one of his own, i dont want to just stick him with the wii, would the ps3 or 360 be the best choice for him, hes 7 years old and can easily use both control pads. i was thinking the 360 for viva pinata, banjo kazooie but also i like the look of eye pets for him on ps3. what console should i buy him.

Most of the families around where I live have a real weakness for Buzz! Which I guess would make it the PS3/2...

Ratchet and clank 1 and 2 eye pet, he would love G-Force, Little Big Planet, Where the Wild Things Are, Kung Fu Panda, and all the Lego games Indiana Jones, Star Wars etc.

I would also go with LittleBigPlanet and the Ratchet and Clank games. And ModNation Racers is coming up.

You should ask him which younger games interest him, but I'd say 360 if he's more inclined to try ones that you mentioned (Viva Pinata, Banjo, and if you have internet for that console then XBLA games). Natal might be something he could be interested in as well.

PS3, and like people have said, for LBP and R&C series. There are also the multiplat games for kids, too.

Still, the Wii is the best for that purpose.

honestly, stick him with a ps2 for now, and try to keep him entertained with it untill fall 2010, by then you can see whether ps3's gem/sphere/wand or what ever they are going to call it or 360's project natal will be any good, because if anything, the kids love the motion control things

Smart kids love Halo, Gears and COD series. If he's noobish and not too bright you might want to stick him the Wii or PS3.

It looks like you should buy a xbox 360. But it is a good choice. Buy him the lego starwars game and lego indiana jones. Lego harry potter should come out soon. Did you get him guitar hero or rock band. Young kids really enjoy those games. Also you should get him the maw he should love it.

Go for more games for kids every time! Either will do, but 360 is cheaper, and are you really going to set him up with a gold account? Might as well go arcade 360

lul. Now let's see if anyone can resist the impulse to flame this guy.

Wait until 2010, if Natal or Sony's Wand things are anything good.

@cainetao11 he already has an account on my xbox sometimes he takes a fancy to playing online and i upgrade him. problem is hes getting older and his time on computers is limiting mine so i need to get him his own and i cant figure out which. i guess going the ps3 route would solve the monthly payment issue. and i kinda want him too have the option to download games as well so if i pick the 360 it will be one with a hard drive

I have a 3 year old and he plays my 360 the most, he loves Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Viva Pinata Party Animals, 'splosion man, and a few other Xbox Live games. Although he also likes LBP but got bored of it fairly fast. But thats just my son, yours could be different

Nintendo DS :D

Oh right consoles...my bad :P

Well the 360 with games like Lego Batman and Pure coming packed in. Also games like Viva Pinata and Banjo are available for retail not to mention games like splosion man, trials HD on XBLA

Edit: Also with Natal launching next year with it's games and motion control, I am sure he would enjoy it

I would think maybe a 360 arcade. It's a good start and he'll add more if he's interested.

You might also want to look into PSN/XBLA games. The Pixeljunk games on PSN as well as games by ThatGameCompany are probably great for kids

so far we've got this ps3 (more expensive) eyepet, pixeljunk, ratchet 360(less expensive) banjo, arcade games, scene it ,viva pinata just to mention again we have a wii and i dont play it often as its in the living room so he pretty much can play that anytime he wants so no need to buy another one
