I'd agree with Valve and CD Projekt Red.
Valve because of what we all want them to release, and CD Projekt Red because of their success with The Witcher, and how that has made them a "premiere" RPG developer.
As for me personally I a bit excited to see how Epic and id treat next generation.
I know id came out, and said they made a big mistake in underestimating the advancements made in the PC hardware space shortly after the 360 launched, and how they feel they let down their PC fans by giving them console ports expecting them to be on par with the standards of the PC.
Epic, while they had the success of Gears, also seems to have had a change of heart. I think they have now realized that GeoW1 bombed on the PC because it was attached to GFWL when it had a subscription fee, and they're currently planning a PC exclusive right now.
I'd love to see both of them go back to being PC-first developers because they both have a unique take on shooters, and aren't content with making generic clones of other games.

Agreed on Epic. They had arguably, one of the best franchises of gen, but so much has changed in such a short time.I think Quake 4, and UT3 suffered by not being developed with only the PC audience in mind. That's what I hope both devs correct next gen.
But as far as I know the basic, generic unit in UDK (Unreal Development Kit) is called the UT4_Peon, or something like that. Let's hope UT4 is in the works :P
I'd want to say that, "yeah UT4 is in the works" but with all the turnover and the change in focus as you listed, I'm not so sure epic is terribly easy to read these days.
