I'm really wondering if there ever was a DLC or a series of DLCs which really enhanced a game's longevity in any substantial way, I'm especially talking about single player oriented games like Mordor but it can be any game. Has any DLC postponed your decision to sell / trade in any game?

Your picks?

GTA 4 and the Fallout games come to mind. And Rock Band for sure.

DLC doesn't effect me.

If I want the game, I can always pick up the eventual GOTY release on sale later. I got The Last of Us Remastered brand new at retail for PS4 which comes with all the DLC for $18 a few weeks ago. It's the GOTY version of that game. I got the game remastered plus all DLC for the price of what others pay for standalone DLC.

Same for Bethesda titles or any other DLC titles. I just wait the year and pick the game up again with all DLC...IF I even want the DLC. Usually I don't.

The New Vegas expansions

I've never given the slightest **** about any other DLC, to be quite honest.

Well, besides the Dragonborn expansion for Skyrim. Just because it was cool to go back to Morrowind.

Yeah, this so much. Just compare Team Fortress 2 at launch to Team Fortress 2 today. So much content has been added it's ludicrous.

Also Left 4 Dead 2 had like 5 campaigns at the start, and now it has over twice as much.

I would also add Red Orchestra 2 and Company of Heroes 2 DLC, because for me personally those prolonged the games a lot.

As for singleplayer DLC, I think Rockstar and Bethesda do a great job at extending the enjoyment. GTA IV and Dishonored DLC were really great.

Payday 2 DLC.

Fire Emblem DLC

Elder Scrolls DLC (Mods mostly)

Fallout 3 DLC (without a doubt.)

Left 4 Dead...really it's the Mods that kept this series alive.

Street Fighter IV and it's not even close. They have dropped so much DLC for that game--I still have the Disc for it and they just keep adding and adding.

Other than that I'll say that Battlefields 4's DLC is dope as well.

Don't Starve's. RoG added tons more to the game and Don't Starve Together will make it something else entirely.

Expansions used to be fantastic value and were like playing the same game again with a completely different feel. The TES games were great for that up to Skyrim by which time Bethesda had sold out a long time ago.

DLC isn't the same. Give me money for a nice hat or a different costume or a couple of hours gameplay (if you're really lucky). How about no, **** off.

Valve's DLC for games like TF2. Of course there are tons of PC games with 3rd party mods and dlc too, but in-house I can only really think of Valve.

I haven't played much else where the DLC was so substantial to the longevity. Most stuff is just small add-ons.

+1 for mentioning worthy updates for hats and tweaks.

TES DLC and Fallout DLC comes to mind.

Probably the best example of them all in recent times would be WOW expansions. That game literally survives off "DLC"/expansions.

Nope. And even if it did it definitely wont have anything to do with longevity..... If I wanted to Experience any game for a longer time Id just replay it :p. Usually because I buy replayable games... mostly.
