Which exclusive on your platform of choice disappointed you

...and why? And to what extent?

I personally was disappointed in Forza Horizon 2 as even though the world was bigger and less restrictive, it was also less varied setting-wise. I also believe obligatory Road Trips later on started becoming obnoxious and prevented you from having fun the way you wanted. Moreover, the perk system was a missed opportunity.

What is your take?

The Order 1886 because I thought it'd be good and it was a suckfest

mario world dissapointed me. the gaalxy games were always going to be difficult to follow up but something just felt off with mario world. it felt...flat...for lack of a better term.

Um i can't say any exclusive game for the Xbox One disappointed me because the ones that were bad, I had no expectations for. Forza Horizon 2 was fantastic though. I disagree with you there. Oh wait, just thought of one. The MCC, the multiplayer being broken at the beginning was just terrible. I ended up liking it though.

Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS was a major disappointment

@Salt_The_Fries: WOW you were disappointed in Forza Horizon 2, I think you should hand in your video game driving license, because you clearly don't deserve one after that comment.

The only exclusive that was a bit of a disappointment for me was Forza 5 and that was only because it lacked some content from being rushed to make it available for the launch of the XB1, and not because it was a bad game.

Halo 5, though I haven't played it yet because it has no splitscreen, that's why it's a disappointment

I've been pretty much happy with the PS4 exclusives.

Have they been godlike and the next thing that will make your gitlfriend scream with delight? No.

But they've been fun.

I've had more letdowns with various multiplats.

Halo 5

No splitscreen, limited coop, still no Firefight, micro transactions, disconnected story.

The Order: 1886 when I rent it on PS4 and that's the only exclusive game I can think of now.

Partially agree, I think the reason for the uninspired combat was because DnD 4E with it's samey classes was the direct inspiration for the system. That and the fact that Obsidian wanted some mainstream appeal despite the fact that is was being funded by hardcore fans.

Infamous second son. too much focus on tech that they forgot or ran out of ideas to make proper side stuff so they just recycled missions in each area. Even main missions were not that good. Sucker punch are stuck in place when it comes to Missions design now. Thank goodness the gameplay can carry it but still if Infamous 3 is not a huge step in the right direction and they don't try to put some effort in side stuff, I'm not going to be pleased and pass it again. Maybe I'm just bored of infamous and I want a new IP.

You're a major disappointment

I suppose The Order, was looking forward to it until reviews hit, got it really cheap recently, and am glad I waited, not the worst thing ever, but not quite what I had wanted out of it.

Lego city undercover U. I got it because it looked crazy fun, riding t-rex's and gliding around on chickens and stuff. I realized pretty quickly the lego games have terrible gameplay, and the gamepad gimmicks just made it worse. I'll give lego games one more shot, with Lego Marvel on the Ps4 (the open world one) because the amount of playable characters and content looks insane, and flying around looks pretty good.

Yeah Mario Kart 7 was great. In ways it feels more balanced than MK8.

Halo 5... not a bad game, but the campaign was underwhelming compared to previous Halos.

Totally agree here, The game looked amazing, I still think it is the most impressive thing on PS4. You can really tell, the game was rushed, it was too short with no new ideas. The first light was superb though. The battle arena was super cool idea and super fun.

Nothing so far, but i haven't played that many exclusives to be bumbed about.

Might get bumbed by Infamous Second Son from what some users say, but i need to play it.

Total War: Rome 2 was biggest disappointment of 2013 for me. They re-released it after one year and fixed a lot of issues, changed game design, refined AI etc but on launch it was unplayable. Even after after re-release, it's still one of the weaker entries in the franchise. It's not bad but it's not excellent either.

I still liked Pillars of Eternity but I was a bit disappointed as well, especially after coming from Divinity Original Sin. Pillars has better writing and more responsive menus but other than that everything is better in Original Sin. On one hand Original Sin tried to innovate the genre by bringing it in 21st century, Pillars went full retro. But then again they didn't have budget of Original Sin, where devs also spent their own money and had in-house RPG engine. I hope with bigger budget they'll be able to do more in Pillars 2.

I'll go with Pillars. I really like the game, and I still need to finish it, but my interest fell off about half way.

Disappointed this gen, no.

I played some games I didn't like but I couldn't say I was particularly looking forward to them either. So there was no disappointment really, just tried, didn't like, no sweat.

Maybe some 3DS games, I tried getting into the Etrian Odyssey games unsuccessfully. However, loved the elements of the game though when it came to Persona Q.

Last gen however, different story.

I actually found Bloodborne to be a bit of a disappointment. There was nothing wrong with it as such, it just didn't captivate me in the way the Souls games do, and it lacks the depth and replay ability that they also offer. Really good game, just not what I anticipated.

So you were disappointed in Forza 5, Horizon2 .....and Forza 6 ... ? Halo 5 was kind of awkward in a sense...I don't really know what to say about it... It has too many contrasts..It's story was definitely a letdown.

Dead Rising 3 ? I didn't play it... but was that a letdown. Sunset Overdrive ? Was that a letdown..?

While I do agree most of MS's exclusives were kind of average to barely decent...But. You being letdown by Forza 6 for example....? Why ?

Halo 5 disappointed me some what, it's still good but eh, dunno, I was expecting much more campaign wise.

I love Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, but I was disappointed with how short it is, the lack of co-op and a survival mode, and the unlockable costume selection.

@acp_45: Annual release like Forza is one of those "played one, you played them all". It's boring and it's the same shit over and over again. The only reason I even gave F6 a try was because it was given to me. An hour of that was enough for me to return it and never look back. Same gameplay, no story, lack purpose especially when the game isn't even fun. I'm a huge fan of Mario Kart so it's not like I hate racers. Games should be fun or at the very least immersive telling a story.

Hmm the games that massively disappointed me this gen were Tomb Raider 2013, GTA V, and MGSV so far...can't really say an exclusive disappointed me. In fact The Order 1886, a game I expected to be terrible and that I'd just enjoy for the graphics turned out to be a great game (love the shooting in this).

So to answer the thread, I have yet to be disappointed by an exclusive of my preferred platform. Infamous SS, The Order, Bloodborne (only one I had massive hype for) all delivered for me.

That said, I only played games that personally looked interesting to me outside of Tomb Raider 2013 and GTA V which turned out to be failures because I listened to fan hype which proved to be an error.

I just remembered there is one. Killzone Shaow Fall! After the rather amazing Killzone 2 I did have hope for Shadow Fall to blow my socks off but it was a just a bunch of missed opportunity and failed vision.

Fighter Within and Kinect Sports really let me down, I had such high hopes.

Ps4: Infamous: Second Son. I didn't expect it to be brilliant, but it was a special kind of bland.

Xbox One: Sunset Overdrive: Mission design was weak and hiding upgrades in a dead multiplayer sucks.

WiiU: Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario World. Proof I've grown tired of them. And the single reason why I didn't get Smash.

Not so much a platform of choice but instead currently the only one I bother to use. But at any rate, Rare Replay is a lousy package in hindsight.

Nothing really. The PS4 exclusives get ragged on so hard that I go in with low expectations. However I will say that watch Dogs was garbage and MGS5 wasn't quite the "10" I was expecting.

The only exclusive I've played recently that I've detested is KZ:SF. The other games were worth a single playthrough but I only managed to get halfway through SF before just giving up. The game was terrible.
